I’ve visited this spa a few times in the past and always had a positive experience, which makes this recent visit quite disappointing.
Unfortunately, the overall condition of the facilities now feels noticeably run down. Areas that were once clean and relaxing appear poorly maintained, and the general upkeep doesn’t match the ticket cost. Small details—like missing headrests on the jacuzzi, multiple tiles missing from the sauna seats, a lukewarm pool, and lack of attention to cleanliness particularly in the changing area —really took away from what should have been a calming experience.
It’s a shame, as this place has great potential and I’ve seen it at its best before. With some investment in maintenance and attention to detail, it could easily return to being a top-quality spa.
I do hope improvements are made, as I’d love to be able to recommend it again in the future.
Very clean, smells amazing. Rooms are comfortable. Staff are lovely.
Nothing to dislike
Very good service
There are 2 EV charging stations but none working.
Location amazing
The spa was good not great
Rooms had nice beds and views
Food expensive but nice
Staff though mainly polite were standoffish particularly the evening barmen was not engaging and said barman was bothered and rude
Got big brother style message regarding invoice on switched off TV but not in email as informed.chill out room had no doors so could hear conversations from corridor. Some spa items and a pathway were in need of repair .
Staff very good room clean
Room bed poorly mended place looking a bit dated i first went 15 years ago and its still the same. food was great but find it unexceptionable to wait 50 min between starter and main course but the main thing that really got me was the notes everywhere you may be charged extra for this for that really!! it just felt they was on your case all the time for money. Thats not what its about in my eyes i will not be returning sadly until i hear things have changed
Room was spacious and comfy - although very hot (no air con)
Staff were friendly and helpful - could use a little more info on where breakfast was and a bit more about the facilities etc but helpful friendly faces
Facilities were great - slightly overcrowded at times but still great
Everywhere was spotless clean
Lots of parking and a lovely quiet location
Sauna, steam and salt room were clean and working well
Doors on the rooms were so loud when closed - as a spa hotel these need to be soft close, people are coming to chill out
Rooms were so hot - cant open the windows due to wildlife
Peaceful location! We had one of the best rooms overlooking the gardens.
The man at reception that greeted us was fab, the ladies in the bar also fab, the housekeepers were polite in passing and the spa staff were great.
I found a hair and numerous stains on our bed/bed sheets! When reported to reception the lady act completely unbothered and like I inconvenienced her
Visited for Sunday lunch. Absolutely superb - beautifully presented, cooked wonderfully, delicious and worth every penny. Great resource here and when we visited, under utilised - nothing was too much trouble for the friendly helpful staff. Recommend wholeheartedly. Will visit again soon.
Fantastic food, good facilities, great staff and some of the best grounds I've ever seen
Reception staff and restaurant staff
Urgent attention is needed in both steam room’s tiles hanging off ceiling and broken tiles on seating area building needs cleaning outside side looks dirty and tired
I had mixed feelings about my stay at Lifehouse Spa in Frinton. There were some genuinely lovely moments, but quite a few things let it down.
The biggest disappointment was the pool area. It’s quite small and felt overcrowded most of the time. A lot of loungers were “reserved” with towels, but no one was actually using them, which made it frustrating to find a place to sit. The atmosphere didn’t feel relaxing at all. On top of that, the chlorine smell was very strong. It actually stung the eyes, which made it hard to stay in there for long. The whole space also felt a bit dated and worn, which added to that slightly unwelcoming feel.
Check-in wasn’t the best experience either. Our room was due to be ready at 2pm, and we went to the desk about 10 minutes early just to see if we could collect our luggage. The receptionist was quite rigid and made us wait until exactly 2pm, repeating that the room “was not ready until 2.” It felt unnecessarily inflexible.
The room itself was clean enough, but there were a few maintenance issues. The patio door didn’t close properly and needed a bit of effort to secure. The bath didn’t drain properly either, so showering meant standing in a few inches of water, which isn’t ideal.
Dinner, though, was a real highlight. Jess, who served us, was excellent. She was attentive, warm, and genuinely made an effort. It stood out because the rest of the service throughout the stay felt quite disengaged.
Breakfast the next morning summed things up a bit. We arrived at 7:10am, and it still wasn’t open. Staff were chatting out the back and told us they had “lost track of time.” It didn’t feel particularly organised or guest-focused.
One thing that also felt out of place was the presence of Reform UK buses in the car park. It gave the impression of a political statement being made, which didn’t sit comfortably in what’s meant to be a relaxing spa environment.
On a positive note, the gardens are absolutely beautiful. Easily the best part of the whole place. If you go, spend time there. They’re peaceful, well kept, and genuinely lovely.
Overall, there’s potential here, but it didn’t quite deliver the relaxing spa experience we were hoping for.
Feels very secluded
