Nice but not exceptional.
Pros:

Booked via a Virgin Experience. Car park a reasonable walk from the hotel spa reception, wouldn’t want to do it in the rain!! Check in really good. Changing facilities and lockers good. It was very busy on the day of our stay, no loungers available in the pool spa area, many weren’t occupied but ‘reserved’ by towels draped over!! The pool and spa area didn’t feel so relaxing due to the number of people on the day. The spa facilities are generally ok but need of some TLC maintenance, with missing tiles and flaking paint. No ad hoc treatment slots available so didn’t see the treatment rooms. Our room in The Willow block was very clean and nicely decorated, basin tap leaking though. Restaurant served excellent food and with excellent service; we had lunch dinner and breakfast. Bar pricing for gin and a tonic and for coffee’s were pretty reasonable, but thought the wine, Prosecco, cocktails and other spirits were a bit over priced. Room service was a £15 charge! Bucket of ice and glasses for the room was a £15 charge! The staff in all areas were all exceptional!! Probably won’t return again, prefer something a little less commercialised and with more character.

In need of some TLC
Pros:

The check in guy at reception for our overnight stay was friendly, & efficient. Our room was clean & overlooked the pond. Lovely view. The shower head leaked badly so my husband took it apart & fixed it.

Unfortunately, & this is my fourth visit (first overnight), the Spa reception always seem abrupt & a bit impatient. Possibly because every time they appear to be training someone new.

The Bubble spa needs some TLC. It looks a little tired.
The lights in the steps, all bar 1, are not working & at least one of the headrests is loose or partially 'off'.

The base area around the spa rooms walls are in need of resealing (external).

The pool staff were constantly mopping & changing the towels 👍
The ladies changing rooms were clean.

We had an evening meal booked. Seating service was ok, after being asked to wait, and her not returning. We waited for 5 min, a queue had formed, someonelse returned to seat us. The redeeming factor was our lovely waitress, Mandy.

The food was good not Michelin star by any means, and not hot enough.

Bed was comfy & extra pillows, although the room was a bit hot.

Breakfast was ok. Hot, but it wasn't, food has to be served at the buffet point by a staff member - sadly we had a miserable lady.

Quality ok. Fruit, yoghurt etc good. Cut your own bread had no serviette to hold the bread whilst cutting & personally I didn't want it after the man before me had his hands all over it!

Bar staff friendly, pink prosecco tasty, just about half a glass. We bought a packet of dry roasted peanuts, they were going soft, the packet date had 3 days left: maybe something to be aware of.

Enjoyed our little break, just left a bit disappointed 😞

Pros:

From the moment we checked in, till the moment we checked out we loved every minute. Sam the spa manager was so lovely & made sure as newbies we knew exactly what to do & where to go. Danielle my massage therapist was first class. I have never felt so relaxed in my life & will 100% be back!

Sad return!
Pros:

Stayed here while on business, before they went into administration and stayed here again recently. All I can say is I think there heading towards administration again. Be very careful when booking, the place is tired, staff seem uninterested. The first time I stayed the reception had 5 staff, now only have 1 when I checked in. I had a massage, and now wonder if the therapist was qualified to the level they should be, was no where near the level of my previous stay. Overall was bad visit and won’t be returning.

Not worth the money.
Pros:

Nice spa but very busy. Avoid on the weekend unless you want extremely busy facilities. It’s not a relaxing spa break if the jacuzzi, sauna etc are overrun and cramped with guests

Cons:

Too many people. Dinner setting wasn’t cosy. Breakfast full of dirty tables that weren’t cleared in time. Orders took ages at dinner. Understaffed?

Do not let negative reviews put you off!
Pros:

I booked an overnight spa break here for the first time & from reading all the negative reviews prior to arrival, I was a little worried how our experience would be considering we were staying Saturday-Sunday when its busiest.
Me & my partner had an amazing time and couldn’t fault anything at all - Do not let these reviews put you off! We couldn’t understand how people were so negative- We either got lucky or people are just extremely picky!

Room was lovely for a standard double, no complaints. Make sure you bring a water bottle, there are several water stations for refills. Food was excellent quality, yes some dishes are on the smaller side so I recommend to order a side with the main & we left the restaurant feeling full. Staff were very friendly. The dinner service can be on the slower side but it’s expected if the room is full of people & it’s nice to not rush anyway.
You have the bar area for chill time or upstairs are the relaxation zones, I imagine in the warmer weather they have outside seating also.
I thought the spa area was lovely, people saying it needs updating I didn’t think this at all. Yes it is on the busy side & there isn’t always loungers free but being able to use the facilities was more important, there was loads of pool space & were able to use all the rooms (steam, salt room etc) & the jacuzzi, you may just have to wait a few mins in the pool for a space to be free in areas but wasn’t hassle at all & we still left feeling relaxed. Were able to use all spa facilities multiple times & didn’t feel rushed even on a Saturday. The loungers do end up freeing up.
Treatment rooms are fab & also used the free gym where it wasn’t too busy & facilities were great.

We would recommend Lifehouse to others & had a great time.

A mixed experience
Pros:

Four of us stayed at Lifehouse Spa for a 2 night midweek break for a girls treat.

On arrival the grounds are beautiful and very well kept. The hotel also was modern and clean. When we checked in we were asked for a £50 deposit for each room to ensure we returned our robes at the end of the stay (which you need to physically take back to reception with you at checkout).

The rooms are clean and modern with lovely shower rooms. If you are a light sleeper make sure you are not allocated room 45. The lift is right against your room and you can not only hear the mechanics but the voice announcing the floor is so loud.

I asked to be moved at 11pm on our first night, having to get dressed and packed after settling down in my PJs for a good sleep. The night receptionist was very pleasant and did his best but the reallocated room had an issue with it’s lock and so twice back and forward to reception then he managed to get me another room which was much quieter.

The first day we were all able to charge to our rooms but on the second I was unable to and so went to reception to ask if there had been a problem with my room change. Nope, this is how groups work. We paid security deposits for all the rooms on one card and so the deposits were all allocated to one room and ONLY that room can charge to it, you need a signed wallet to check your signature so that means only one of your group can charge to the room. If that had been explained we would have provided separate security deposits.

The guest relation manager caught me at reception being aware of the issues the previous night and offered 10% off one room for one night, I actually found that quite insulting, I hadn’t asked for a discount and so the proactive offer should have been a good gesture but they hand out vouchers for 10% off your next stay anyway and so to only apply to one room for one night felt like it was not compensation at all and less than they are willing to offer for nothing.

The spa treatments were excellent, we all throughly enjoyed our treatments and they are well priced. We went to the pool briefly but it was really busy, felt crowded like a cruise ship on a sea day and was not clean. We spent most of our downtime in their bar area which was lovely. The food in the restaurant was excellent. A real highlight of the stay. The service throughout the resort was really mixed from friendly attentive service to ignoring us or not having a booking we had only made a couple of hours before.

So a mixed visit with some excellent experience - the treatments and food and some unsatisfactory experiences leading to an average rating.

Not worth the money
Pros:

Peaceful and beautiful location.
Staff very friendly and helpful

Cons:

Spa pool chairs were not clean and not enough for all customers.
Very dingy and jacuzzi head rests broken.
Just not a very relaxing atmosphere or spa that you would want to spend much time in.
Expensive for the facilities provided.

Waste of your money
Pros:

So for my birthday my family booked for a relaxing day at the spar. Six of us in total, we got a call to ask if we could push lunch back till 3pm so we agreed but we were still asked to arrive by 8am. We left home at 6.30 am , on arrival the staff were very friendly and we were given gowns. Off we went to the pool, the steam room was broken , sauna was packed as was the loungers the pool area was like a public baths.
so me personally spent most of the day walking around the reception and waiting for my treatments which was lovely.for 5 hours we wasn’t offered a complementary tea or biscuit which would have been nice., as it was them that pushed back lunch .
We had lunch which was not too bad, after talking to the girls who also had the same experience , but as it was my birthday didn’t want to complain .
we decided enough was enough and that for £1200 there was only so much sitting in a bar we could take ( only seats available) so decided to shower and go home.
My daughter in law and myself tried to shower where we both got 3rd degree burns ( you couldn’t turn the showers down as they were broken) on both our showers,I left the shampoo in my hair and decided to shower once I got home.
my daughter went into a different one and when she looked up the ceiling and walls were covered in mould. We complained to reception and was told to email, which we did the very next day…. Not a email back no apology nothing. Everyone works so hard for their money and to have this experience is a absolute disgrace £1200 what a waste of their money which I’m so sad about , they all have extremely stressful jobs and was so looking forward to a relaxing day, what a joke that was . I looked like a in patient walking about in a white gown looking for a seat I really didn’t want to sit in a bar all day.please I really wouldn’t book here and look for another spar. They didn’t even have the decency to call or email back.

It was a beautiful place, but it was far too busy and overwhelming.
Pros:

The gardens were truly breathtaking, and the room was impeccably clean. Its minimalistic charm was especially soothing. Your staff are incredibly caring and attentive, particularly the restaurant team, who worked tirelessly and always with a warm smile, ready to assist whenever needed.

Cons:

There was no water in the room, and I couldn't reach anyone on the phone, so I had to call reception with my own device. To be told there was a water station. We waited around for beds by the swimming pool, which was difficult for my husband, who has MS. We were informed that we had to wait 20 minutes for a bed, as that was the limit given to others. My husband couldn’t use the jacuzzi because it was too busy, and the other facilities were also crowded. This understandably affected our experience. We are a foster family, and this was my husband’s 50th birthday—rarely do we get the chance to go away, and we had hoped for a more relaxing time.

Sadly don't think I will be going back
Pros:

I've stayed here many times and the staff are always very friendly and attentive. The staff are great. The bedroom was ok. Surprised with the size of the bed. Assumed as it was a signature room that it would be a king size bed but it was just a regular double bed.

Cons:

I understand it might be for environmental reasons but not having a fridge in the rooms is insane and super inconvenient. We just wanted cool water. During the summer I can't imagine how rubbish that will be. The shower was awful, the temperature is either scorching hot or really cold and there was no in between. I would also expect a coffee machine in the rooms. Most decent hotels have them especially if it's an upgrade from the totally regular rooms if you're paying for a better room there should at least be a coffee machine.
