I have no idea who gave this hotel a 5* rating! Maybe when it was newly refurbished back in the 80's but it is without a doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and wouldn't give it a 1*
I was supposed to stay for a few weeks but could only manage 1 night, absolutely disgusting room that had not been cleaned properly in a long time. The first room was very dated and had hairs in the bed, the second room was equally as filthy with dirty carpets, bogeys on the door frames, a grimey bath, dead ants and a bed sheet with cigarette burns in it. If it wasn't so late in the evening I would of left for another hotel straight away.
Loved the building, the history and the gardens. The staff is incredibly helpful and lovely. Slightly far away from the centre.
Excellent établissement, personnel aux petits soin.
Restaurant excellent !
Propreté irréprochable !
J’ai tout apprécié
I appreciate you all for everything!
The hotel is historic and full of detail.
My room wasn’t ready as I arrived at 10am, so they leant me a “spare room” just to shower and recover. It turned out to be the North African campaign room, attached to Eisenhower bedroom where the invasion of southern Europe in WW2 was planned. Amazing.
Advice, upgrade to the sea view room.
Très bel hôtel. Cadre magnifique. Jardin botanique superbe. Belle piscine.
Very historic and beautiful
It is a famous lokation with a wonderful garden. Unfortunately the pool was closed and the staff is sometimes inconvient if you have special requests.
Beautiful hotel centrally located with incredible heritage but unfortunately not well maintained. The pool area was run down, the service very average (forgot to refill water, room not clean at arrival etc) but room with beautiful views and staff very friendly
My recent stay at Hotel El Djazair was satisfactory, though there were a few areas that could be improved. The hotel's location is one of its key strengths, as it is centrally situated and provides easy access to major attractions and transport options in the city.
The room I stayed in was adequately sized, though somewhat dated. The furniture and decor seemed worn, and while the room was generally clean, there were a few areas that could have used more attention. The bed was comfortable enough, but the heating system in the room was not particularly effective, which made the overall comfort level lower than expected.
Service from the staff was polite but could have been more attentive. At times, it seemed that the front desk staff were not as responsive as they could have been, especially when dealing with specific requests.
Breakfast was decent, but the selection was limited compared to other similar establishments, and it lacked variety. I also encountered issues with the Wi-Fi, as it was slow and inconsistent throughout my stay. Additionally, some of the advertised amenities, such as the gym and pool, were either unavailable or in need of repair.
While Hotel El Djazair offers good value in terms of location, it does fall short in some areas such as maintenance and service. It is an acceptable choice for a short stay, but those seeking modern amenities and higher standards of service might want to consider other options.
The El Djazaïr hotel is a unique place in Algiers, with a special atmosphere. It's not the most luxurious or modern, and the service can sometimes be rough. But its Moorish-style architecture, ceramic decor, and garden make for a charming stay. On a practical level, breakfast is particularly varied, and the restaurant is a good option for dinner. The most negative point is the very late noise when there's a wedding... or when the tennis court is cleaned too early. You'll need multi-plugs to charge electronic devices from the room's only socket. Very good price for the value and atmosphere if you don't feel lost elsewhere than in an international chain hotel.
If you're fasting don't go to this hotel otherwise they will refuse to serve you dinner as it happened to me I arrived at the hotel a couple minutes before time to break My fast and I asked about the restaurant and their menu and I got told I can't eat anything until 9pm which is the time their restaurant opens.
