This beautiful hotel is very grand and is still very classy. It is showing its age however, but we still had a wonderful experience, with my husband celebrating his birthday at dinner where the staff made his night very special. The staff are excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay.
I had a fantastic suite with all the amenities and comforts. Delicious dinner. Wonderful staff.
The stay was a shitshow, and nor the reception or the general manager felt need to apologize, let alone offer any compensation.
They claim to have an airport transfer. They don’t.
Then they tried to cheat me out of the room I’d booked & paid for: I was left alone to find a dirty, crumbling room without even the number on the door at the edge of the estate, with no phone to contact the reception, so I had to walk back there. They had nerve to claim it was the right room. When I clearly pointed out it wasn’t, she asked me ”if I wanted to see the room I had booked”?!
I was promised my luggage would be moved there. It wasn’t- had to do it myself, too.
New room had a phone, but no information about services they supposedly provide or even as to even what was the number to the reception, so again I had to walk back to the reception to sort out all the new issues. The room had no minibar they advertized, TV was a couple of grainy channels impossible to watch. Wi-fi didn’t work half the time.
To my surprise restaurant wasn’t open for lunch, so had to go hungry. Hotel also advertizes its restaurant as some kind of culinary haven, but for dinners there was a crap buffet (chicken wings are their idea of high end cuisine), wherr food either ran out or was inedible: meat grossly overcooked and tough.
Serving staff was unprofessional.
Pool was small, dirty & equipped with just 2 sun loungers.
Don’t waste your time or money on staying here!
Management needs to seriously apply quality assurance processes. Especially on cleanliness of rooms and restuarant service. A mere ordering of drinks from some waitress, in a quarter full dinning place, took about 20 minutes. Covid lockdown restrictrictions -vely affected some hospitality businesses. But this doesnt mean quality service should be below 3-star level. Except my concerns, my stay was good with magnificent views!
It is a beautiful place with precious history and stories. The view is spectacular. It is however sad that the place is neglected and I understand it is due to the covid pandemic hitting the industry hard. I really hope things pick up and that the old lady can get back her former sparkle and grandeur.
wonderful
Coach House is filled with nostalgia and has a fantastic setting. We had two rooms. One was quite dated and the other more modern. Both were excellent value though. Staff were extremely helpful, especially Thomas and Annah in the restaurant.
Rooms are spacious and clean, but the key card did not work and took many attempts before the door opened.
The buffet breakfast on the Sunday was cold and this was disappointing as the a la carte breakfast on the Saturday was excellent.
Beautiful location with great views on the nearby mountains, forests and fruit plantations with a nice little spa. WIFI available only around the restaurant area. Nice team...
Hotel from a different era. This is a great old hotel. It certainly has seen better days but there is an old world charm about the place. The hotel was built many years ago and has been updated and renovated along the way. It’s been a while since the last renovation but the rooms are very nice and spacious.
The rate we got included breakfast and what an outstanding value! The breakfast spread alone would have cost about what we paid for room including breakfast in the USA.
The rooms are fairly well maintained. The bed was comfortable and the room is very quiet. We booked the suites and having a fireplace in the room with a log fire made the room even more appealing. The views are amazing! Had dinner at the restaurant and again outstanding value.
Very much enjoyed this visit.
Expedia price good value for money.
But the overall experience would be improved with attention to the "little things". E.G tables not properly cleared, dirty cutlery and crockery left from previous diners. Buffet breakfast adequate but an on demand egg service would improve service.
The Staff is friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent though the rooms cleanliness are disappointing. The carpets are extremely dirty, the spider webs are visible in corners. The towels has holes in.
I had an incredible time celebrating my birthday. The views are amazing, the food delicious. I was just a bit disappointed that I was allocated a room that I had not booked for (standard twin room instead of the king suite) but after communicating with reservations I was given the correct room. My husband and I had an excellent stay
This hotel has seen better days. While the rooms are huge and well appointed they are very dated and need refreshing. The staff all seemed attentive enough, but our dinner experience was not great and it then took almost 30 min to get the bill. Spa is large but seems to lack staff and certainly needs a receptionist. Again, the decor, etc could be updated. But the treatment I had (pedi) was excellent.
The oddest thing of all though was the DJ above the pool blaring hard core techno throughout the day while the guests are trying to enjoy the relaxing surroundings - We only lasted 10 min and then retreated to our room to nurse our bleeding ear drums.
Lovely views though...
sadly the standards have dropped since last we were there...generally rooms and interior need a
facelift especially the bathrooms and could be cleaner...more training for the staff
We had a wonderful weekend. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The place is very comfortable, relaxing. There’s a Spa, heated pool, small gym and a nice cozy restaurant. Some maintenance needs to be done on the property like getting a fresh coat of paint and we had a lot of ants next to the room but nothing to hinder our stay.
We have been there 30 years ago and now again - the place is a bit run down but the people very friendly and good service
Amazing
The lady at reception is such a darling she treated us like family
The restaurant omg
The room was very clean
Everythng was on point
We enjoyed our stay and were made to feel very welcome but the evening meal of roast crispy pork we had was very disappointing as the pork was not crispy and rather tough. The presentation and the vegetables were very good
I know the Coach House from the days it was in it's heyday, now, it's sad to see such an iconic place being so badly run and managed that it's going to resort to a no-go place if something isn't done asap!
Just very sad to see this happening, really, it used to be so amazing, now, I don't know...
