This hotel is a must. Absolute 5-star hotel with professional and gracious staff. The food was not only great, the presentation was superb. And right in the middle of the Gothic quarter. Perfect location. Would not stay anywhere else. Thank you to everyone at this wonderful hotel.
Loved the area-gothic quarter- super clean and cool interior design/architecture
Nothing really except maybe the pillows being to thin
Overall perfect
Service on the roofterras, pool without water
Everything was top flight. Awesome.
Location was good.
Sadly, the swimming pool, the main reason for booking, was not available, it would have been great to be made aware re maintenance during that time period. Also telephone to reception did not work in my room unfortunately, meaning having to go up and down persistently. The people generally were nice and helpful, just with the price and 5 star aspect rating, the overall an experience was likely a 3.5 to a 4
I rented 5 rooms here for 2 nights last week and was surprised by the ranking it is given on here.
The ground floor where the reception, restaurant and bars are was often unattended but the reception staff were very nice.. This despite them trying to charge me for our stays even though we had already paid before arrival.
The rooms are a reasonable size but are quite basic and all come with an open plan bathroom but feels but budget in appearance and usability! The showers all have this ridiculous floor that is uneven and a trip hazard - i thought it was just my room but all rooms had it and when reported to reception they did nothing.
Most rooms views basically face onto a brick wall.
It sells itself as a hotel with a roof pool which we all wanted to attend, but upon arrival the pool area was taped off and empty.
Not sure i would return.
Servizio eccelente
La posizione del hotel
Exclusive boutique hotel located in Gothic quarter adjacent to the old Roman wall. Superb location and knowlegeable, personal staff. Modern architecture and great pillows and beds. Could have used more access to plugs and better lighting in bathroom area. Lovely hotel and would return again
La posizione e la particolarità della struttura
La colazione non ha soddisfatto le aspettative
The Mercer Barcelona is a lovely hotel in a great location.
The service was very attentive overall, breakfast delicious.
We would stay there again.
Caveat, if a gym is important to you during you stay, this is probably not the place for you. There is no gym on the property.

There were some positive aspects to this hotel, but their billing practices were so predatory that they overshadow everything else—and that’s what I’m focusing on here.
Do not book a nonrefundable room at this property.
I reserved four nights at approximately €500+ per night. Within a couple of hours, I realized I had mistakenly booked for July instead of June, when we actually needed the stay. I immediately called the hotel to correct the error. They informed me they had no availability in June. When I explained that I had caught the mistake within hours—and pointed out that they still had three months to rebook the July dates—I asked if a refund could be issued. The answer was an unequivocal no delivered with unnecessary coldness.
Faced with losing €2,000, my husband and I felt forced to plan an entirely separate four-day trip just to use the reservation. To make matters worse, when we rebooked for April, the hotel increased the rate by €200 per night.
At no point was there any gesture of goodwill—no partial accommodation, no flexibility, not even a small concession like complimentary breakfast. Even more disappointing was the tone of the staff throughout the process, which felt dismissive and unnecessarily harsh.
Proceed with extreme caution when booking here. Even if your travel plans seem certain, pay extra for a refundable option. This experience showed a clear lack of flexibility and customer consideration.
Staff amazing , Breakfast outstanding

Das Sternerestaurant ist etwas too much.
The Mercer Hotel, what an amazing hotel and the staff are lovely. Thank you for a wonderful short stay.
We stayed in a junior suite and it was very roomy.
The old building is beautiful and charming
The the room was very dark and the lights need some redesign. We could not open the shade over our french balcony ( we asked for assistance) so the room was always very dark.
We waited almost 2 hours for the food at the Bristo but the food was good.
