Exceptional service, 100/100
The Mercer Hotel in Barcelona was my home for 4 nights while I was visiting my 20 year old son who is studying in Barcelona this semester. The property is beautiful but what really makes this hotel stand out is the staff. Each person encountered was friendly, helpful and just lovely. I was escorted to cabs and even walked to my next hotel without touching my luggage (a convention in town made me move hotels bc Mercer did not have space my last night). My 20 year old daughter joined me for the weekend and came home very late (morning!) after clubbing with her twin brother and the staff were kind to her. Most importantly we both felt very safe around the hotel at all hours. Breakfast is scrumptious. My only complaint is that the room was quite dark but it is built in Roman ruins and the cost of being in a beautiful historic building is that light is not plentiful.
From the very first moment, the welcome was warm, elegant and genuinely thoughtful. The staff made us feel special right away, and that feeling stayed throughout our entire stay. A huge thank you to the whole team for their kindness and professionalism.
The location is simply incredible. Right in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, yet peaceful and refined — it doesn’t get better than this. Everything is within walking distance, and stepping out of the hotel feels like walking into history.
The hotel itself is stunning. The décor perfectly blends historic architecture with modern sophistication. Every detail feels intentional, refined and timeless.
Our room was perfect. Beautifully designed, extremely comfortable, and the beds were outstanding — we slept incredibly well every night.
A special thank you to the concierge team for their exceptional attention and care in helping organize my proposal to my girlfriend. Their thoughtful touch made the moment even more magical and truly unforgettable. It meant a lot to us.
If you’re looking for a romantic, elegant and perfectly located hotel in Barcelona, the Mercer is simply the best choice. We can’t wait to come back.
Exceptional staff in every way. Great location in the gothic area with easy walking access to everything. My only wish is they had a gym inside of the building. Aside from that this experience was exceptional and I will stay there again.
A very lovely and chic five star boutique hotel in a historic building on a quiet, mostly pedestrian street in the Gothic Quarter with exceptionally attentive and helpful staff. Rooms are very quiet, with plenty of space and super comfortable beds. Great walk in shower (both rain shower and hand-held options) with lots of hot water, bath products by Italian luxury firm Etro and plenty of large, fluffy towels.
We ate twice at the hotel tapas bar and really enjoyed the food/drinks and especially the excellent service and banter from server Antoine. There is also a gastronomic restaurant that looks beautiful and serves a breakfast buffet though we did not eat there. The rooftop bar was closed during January during our stay but Antoine gallantly brought us drinks and snacks there so we could enjoy the sunset view.
Concierge service is highly accommodating. Carla helped arrange a terrific private car service to help us navigate both Figueres (for the not-to-be-missed Dali Museum) and Girona (for the amazing medieval historic center) all in one day.
The location is excellent and we walked to many great bars, restaurants, shops and historic churches in the Gothic Quarter and El Born neighborhoods. There is also a large food market just a few minutes walk from the hotel (Mercat de la Boqueria, open Monday through Saturday until 8:30 PM) - well worth a visit to peruse the amazing selection of local meats/cheeses/produce and enjoy freshly prepared tapas and drinks at the bar/restaurants in the festive atmosphere. For sights further afield we easily caught taxis on the nearby commercial street.
One thing to be aware of is that the street the hotel is on (like almost all streets in the Gothic Quarter) is very narrow and not all vehicles can or are willing to manage it. However, our taxi from the airport was able to deliver us right to the front door, and the hotel arranged a taxi for our return that also picked us up at the front door. And as mentioned, taxis can easily be hailed from a nearby commercial street and when returning to the hotel, taxis will drop you a block or two away - only quick walk back to the hotel.
This was our second visit to the Mercer and will definitely stay there again on our next visit(s).
The hotel was lovely and charming. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. Our flight home was canceled due to winter storm Fern . The staff couldn’t do enough for us to help make our situation better. I appreciated it.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Mercer Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The hotel itself is stunning — beautifully designed with a perfect balance of modern comfort and historic charm. Our room was spacious, quiet, and thoughtfully appointed, making it the ideal retreat after a day of exploring the city.
It was a pleasant experience. Rooms were comfortable, staff were very friendly and professional, location was perfect.
It was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.
Definitely 10/10
The stay was very pleasant. The hotel is located in the heart of the town, and its restaurants are also excellent. The staff were attentive to our needs. Our room was clean, spacious and well‑heated.
The hotel itself is beautiful. It's a sophisticated mix of modern elegance and Gothic quarter style. The staff is excellent and we're extremely helpful when we needed help due to my son having injured his leg.
Localização e cortesia da equipe.
Nada.
Certainly the best hotel in Barcelona, and one of the best hotel experiences in the world. First class service, rooms, maintenance, food and drink. The location in the gothic quarter is perfect: quiet, accessible, easily walkable to many restaurants and attractions. An amazing experience overall.
I did a trip with my aunt through Lisbon, Madrid, and Barcelona, and Mercer Hotel Barcelona was my favorite hotel of the entire trip.
The environment is calm, quiet, and very intentional. I don’t enjoy hotels that feel flashy, overcrowded, or overwhelming, and Mercer was the complete opposite. The lighting is dim and warm, the energy is relaxed, and everything feels thoughtfully designed. It fits perfectly into its location in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, tucked away on small streets and blended into the historic surroundings.
The hotel has a beautiful lobby, a small bar and restaurant, a Michelin-star restaurant on site, and a stunning library where I worked both nights. The rooftop is also lovely, with a pool and a peaceful atmosphere (too cold to use in January, but still worth seeing).
The rooms were extremely comfortable, with mostly hard floors and just a small rug — ideal if you don’t like fully carpeted rooms. The staff was kind and helpful without being overbearing.
There’s no gym, but the area is so walkable that it wasn’t an issue at all. I would absolutely stay here again.
Small boutique hotel ,very quiet despite location in very touristy part of Barcelona. Room elegantly designed. Outstanding breakfast (restaurant was closed during our stay). Welcome with a bottle of cava reserva.
