Our room was clean and comfortable and big for a twin room, with two double beds. It was quiet at night, although we stayed mid-week so it may be busier at the weekend.
Breakfast was included in the price and was nice, with a good choice and staff were friendly and helpful.
I drove into Skegness each day but there was a bus that came onto the site regularly if needed.
We didn’t eat in the restaurant as it seemed a little overpriced.
I had asked for a walk-in shower, for my elderly mum, but the shower was over the bath so mum couldn’t use it.
The location was convenient and the male member of staff was friendly and polite. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of our stay.
We checked out a day early because we felt so uncomfortable. The room was very dirty with cobwebs throughout, especially around the windows, and there was visible dust and dirt. The bathroom was unhygienic with mould, a stained toilet seat and a dirty, wet bath mat. The room only had two plug sockets, neither near the beds, and the electrics appeared faulty as the lamps repeatedly tripped. My phone, which normally charges in around an hour, took the entire night to charge.
Check in was also very concerning. We were initially told there was no booking, then another receptionist found it and said someone had already checked us in before we had even arrived. No apology was offered.
The younger female receptionist, in particular, was rude and made us feel unwelcome. Later, both receptionists appeared to be talking about my husband while looking directly at him, which made us feel uncomfortable. We also felt like we were an inconvenience whenever we asked for anything, even ordering a drink.
At breakfast, the member of staff did not greet us, smile or make us feel welcome, yet we observed her being much warmer and friendlier towards other guests. We left feeling that we were treated differently because of our ethnicity. This was upsetting, especially as we were travelling with our children, who also felt uncomfortable. I will be raising this experience formally.
