Il Santavenere

We have traveled extensively and been to many beautiful spots. This hotel is 5 stars all the way. Incredible attentive service. Gorgeous views... Beach and pool... Tennis and bocce. This place had it all. Definitely in our top 5 places in the world

Santavenere is a fabulously elegant property. The grounds were beyond compare. And the service was also impeccable.

Our only issue was the availability of food after breakfast. The hotel has a pool restaurant that we used twice. Once for lunch and once for dinner. Neither experiences was acceptable. We were the only guests both time. The restaurant at the hotel is highly rated but does not start serving until 8pm. We don’t eat that late. What added to the problem was the surrounding area which also did not have viable food options that we found.

This was the ONLY issue we had with the property. Beyond this, Santaverne is a 5 Star property

Il Santavenere is definitely a 10/10 experience. From the moment you arrive you are in a true oasis - just what you want from a break by the sea. The staff are all (and I mean all) friendly, personable and helpful. The rooms are luxurious, including the beds and washrooms, without being overly showy. The views overlooking the sea are stunning. Maratea itself is definitely a nice little town and Il Santavenere is a hidden gem in Basilicata. We're already planning our next trip back and can't wait to be there again!

This place is a paradise in both location & facilities. Old world service in an establishment that offers guests luxury, privacy and fabulous amenity. The surrounding area is gorgeous

Extremely personal service. We arrived in mid afternoon and sat for a light lunch. A waiter was posted near our table the entire time to immediately get us whatever we required. Incredible views from the room.

Amazing property. Good service. But very noisy ( dog barking. Tiles on the room corridor) . Real problem at the restaurants ( 5 dishes missing on the menu. Bad service. One waitress only speak English. Very unhelpful)

The hotel has a great location, wonderful sea views, wonderful park, the external parts are very beautiful and elegant, The breakfast terrace is just great. Unfortunately our deluxe sea view double room was very humid, our clothes smelled with humidity, this is neither good nor healthy, for lack of information we didn't know, until our last day there, that there were other similar rooms on the top floor, we would have preferred one of them, also we had to change room the very first day because the door of the shower was broken, we took a shower and the bathroom was flooded with water, a broken, actually missing, shower door in a 5stars L hotel is not really acceptable. But mainly the unhealthy humidity was a problem. We had pleasant experience with some of the staff, Enzo at the main restaurant was great and also Francesco and Domenico at the beach, Francesco helped with many useful info. On the other hand the service at the beach restaurant wasn't good, once I ordered a dish and I got a different one..and there were only 2 tables to serve, service often slow and no coffee at all!! Also at the reception we had mixed experiences and above all we didn't get the 10%off food promised by expedia.

The hotel is situated on a beautiful extremely large piece of property on the sea, fantastic views.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
The bathroom amenities were a bit lacking and the pillows were awful.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Ate in a local pizzeria which was fantastic

Our stay was lovely staff very helpful and friendly.
The room amenities we a less than normal, no toiletries to speak of. No water provided except in mini bar.
Overall good but not a 5 star as advertised

Wow, this place transports you into yesteryear in the best possible way. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay memorable and we’ll hope to be back soon time soon.

This hotel is an absolute delight, we had a sea view room and the view was breathtaking. The room was spotless with a really big comfy bed. The grounds are outstanding and the beach was such a tranquil and peaceful place with the clearest water! The only downside is that the restaurant and lunch bar, are very pricey

We had driven over 350kms and wondering about the hotel given this was our first visit. The facilities, scenery, service from all the staff were fantastic. An incredible experience all round. The rugged, unspoiled coastline around Maratea is spectacular with the glistening clear blue sea. A very special place, well worth a visit.
