Limpeza dos quartos podia ser mais profunda, mas ainda assim era bastante boa (apenas ficavam algumas areias, formigas nos cantos)

Amazing family time at Royal Son Bou
Pros:

We absolutely loved our experience at the hotel. Everyone is amazingly friendly. The whole place is immaculately clean. We couldn’t be happier to spend a few days with our young children there. A special thank you to our great waiter Pepe and the manager at the reception who kindly gave us an upgrade which made our stay even more comfortable and memorable.

Amazing family paradise !
Pros:

This place is absolutely heaven for families - every little thing from reception having a child bench to the ice cream counter to the activities to even having a children’s sink in the room separate to the adult sink - we cannot of think of a better resort to come each year to enjoy the pool and sea - the Kikoland staff are amazing and work tireless and they are the jewel in the crown of this resort - our daughter has built amazing bond with a few of them over the past 2 years . We met families who have been coming here for past 10 years and we really understand why and we will probably do the same

Lovely family holiday
Pros:

We are just back from a fabulous five night stay at the Royal Son Bou. We took our seven year old granddaughter who had the most amazing time. This was our second visit and I have no hesitation in recommending the Son Bou to anyone travelling with children.

Our accommodation was spotlessly clean and housekeeping is carried out daily to a very high standard.

We were all inclusive and the food was excellent. There is a choice of two restaurants. They can both be very busy but at no time did I ever see anyone queuing for a table. There are so many dishes to choose from with lots of healthy options available if you’re on a restricted diet. There are also two supermarkets opposite the hotel for anyone on half board. One in particular is very well stocked and the prices seem very reasonable.

The pools are fabulous, our granddaughter loved them! Lots of pool activities at various times if you’re partial to pool aerobics or volley ball. The second pool is quieter, more shallow and suited to young children ….. though our seven year old loved the galleon and the slides!

The kids club has had a refurb since last year. There are lots of supervised activities for children but now there is also a fantastic splash park. Our granddaughter was there every day, she loved it! Who knew getting drenched could be such fun!

It’s a short walk to the beach. The sand has rocks and the waves can be fierce but again, our granddaughter loved it. There’s a tunnel access directly from the hotel so no roads to cross.

All in all, this was a fabulous stay. The one slight negative was a large hotel over the road which plays incredibly loud music until 10.30pm each evening. If your accommodation has a sea view, you will notice it the most. It’s probably not ideal if you have a baby, but otherwise, not a deal breaker. I’ve no doubt there are options in quieter areas if you contact the hotel directly.

And last but not least, I’d like to give a big shout out to all the staff at this hotel. Not once did we encounter anyone who didn’t acknowledge us. Most spoke excellent English and were incredibly polite, helpful and efficient. Without a doubt, they are the jewel in Son Bou’s Crown!

Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Fantastic family holiday
Pros:

Fantastic hotel for families.
Lovely spacious room, really appreciated having a fridge. Large bathroom. We had a sea view which was lovely.
The pool was nice and warm in late June.
It's a short walk to the beach. The sea was also lovely and warm for swimming
But, the main reason that I booked was the food and it did not disappoint. Lots of choice. My son who is less adventurous was happy with the pizza and Bolognese but loved trying all the different deserts.
The supermarkets near by were not so expensive as I thought they might be and son we used them for lunch as we were half board.
The shop assistant in the hotel was very friendly and will inflate any Floatie you want to buy. Hotel shop price very good.
Very happy overall.

Per gaudir-ho en familia
Pros:

Great to be back!
Pros:

This was our second visit to the royal son Bou after 15 years when we travelled with our four children, the eldest being 16 and the youngest 20 months old. We returned with three of our children, our daughter in law and two grandchildren. I can honestly say the hotel has kept its amazing reputation. Everywhere is kept immaculately clean, the staff work tirelessly. Our rooms were cleaned every day, the beds were made and towels changed. We were always accommodated in the restaurant, being a party of 7 they always found us a table and nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of variety with the food, dessert night was incredible. The house wine was pretty descent and my husband enjoyed the beer. Around the pool we always found sunbeds, there is a strict no sunbed saving rule and people kept to it. All in all we had a fantastic holiday.

Well fed, entertained and part of the family from day one
Pros:

RSB really is a special place, with families put right at the front of every detail!

When you arrive, reception will talk you through the two restaurants, and explain beach/pool towel system (for us, these were changeable on Tues, Thursday and Saturday with the lifeguard or at reception), before giving you the key cards to your room. There's water and lemon water available if you're waiting, and porters are available to help with bags, as due to the apartment set up of the hotel, you are likely to have to navigate some stairs to get to your room. We were on the top floor and they didn't pose a problem with a 10 and 6 year old, but I would feel for anyone with mobility issues or prams - might be best to request a ground floor room if this is you!
We arrived late but luckily the restaurant was still open. Even if it wasn't, they will prepare a cold plate up for you in your room for late arrivals which is a lovely touch.

We stayed on an all inclusive package which was excellent value (via Jet2), for one week which was the perfect amount of time before food and evening entertainment restarted its weekly cycle. Due to the heat, we didn't venture further than the resort apart from one morning at the beach! There is no shade at the beach, so if you can get a spot beside the lifeguard tower, you'll get a bit of coverage, or you can buy parasols at the hotel shop or supermarket over the road, or rent one from the bar a little way down the beach.
The beach is absolutely stunning and worth packing a snorkel to see the fishes in the crystal clear water.

We stayed in a one bedroom pool view apartment which offered a sofa bed set up in the lounge space, small kitchenette, excellent family sized bathroom with bath and shower, and large bedroom with lots of storage. There is a safe which locked with a key which we didn't use - assume you'd need to ask for the key at reception.
The room was spotlessly clean, and whilst there were a few dated issues such as small rust marks on the fridge, it caused no issue to us whatsoever. We had no issue with ants or mosquitoes at all (mentioned in other reviews).
The balcony space is lovely and features a table and chairs, plus a good sized drying rack.
The mattresses were comfortable, and pillows would depend on preference but there is a pillow menu so you can try different options if you need them. The air con unit in our room struggled a bit, and I would say the room was typically around 21-24 degrees but you definitely noticed if it was turned off. I'd echo other reviews and recommend popping to your room after housekeeping have been in to make sure the key card which powers the room is pushed in fully. Our unit was very loud when on setting 3, so we left it on this in the day, and pushed it down to 2 at night which made it much quieter. Our ceiling fan in the room was also quite loud so we didn't keep this on at night.

The food was excellent throughout our stay, with so much variety at each meal. Breakfast and dinner has a different theme each day over a one week period, and there really is something for everyone with fussy eaters able to get some decent food, right through to the more adventurous. Staff in the restaurant can't do enough for you, and work so hard to cook what you want, how you like it. Spills and dropped plates or glasses are dealt with subtly and so quickly, with safety taken very seriously.

Royal Club offered a few bits for our kids to do, but Kikoland was a huge highlight. The RSB app is great for seeing what the restaurant themes are, but I'd recommend it even more for the daily activity schedules. The entertainment teams are so inclusive, taking time to learn the children's names, spot those who aren't engaging and try really hard to get them to join in. Equally, they read the situation really well and don't force anyone to do anything. My daughter (6) bought in to the staff so much and couldn't stop chatting with them. She was genuinely sad to leave her friends! I would 100% suggest if nothing else, your children go to the foam party /water fight afternoon. All the kids (and parents) had the most amazing time, and I couldn't stop laughing!

The bar has an excellent range of drinks, and the all inclusive menu is pretty comprehensive. I was slightly gutted mojitos and frozen daiquiris weren't included but you can't have it all (and you could pay for these if you wanted to). There are alcohol free beer options, plenty of wines and sangria, plus soft drinks, excellent coffee and decent cocktail ranges. I found some cocktails tasted a bit synthetic from one of the juice mixes but by working my way through the menu, quickly realised my favourites ;)
Make sure you try at least one iced coffee for a morning treat... (ask for an iced latte if a more typical iced coffee if your thing though)

The pools kept our active kids very entertained and I was worried the little slides might not be enough for our 10 year old, but they were fine for a change of scene from the main pool (not that he needed it). There's often activities in the main pool, but still plenty of space for swimming and splashing and playing. Key highlights for us were the magic carpet, inflatable slide, water basket and the aqua dancing.
If you forget your inflatables, there's a good range at the hotel shop and over the road at the supermarket at reasonable prices (and also good if you need more suncream!)

You'll be kept well fed, entertained and feel part of the family from day one. Have a great time!

A Memorable Family Holiday at Royal Son Bou
Pros:

Location - ideal, we booked the holiday via jet2 and they looked after the whole experience very well.
Hotel is located just 20 mins drive from Mahon airport.

Atmosphere - this was our first trip to royal sun bau and I can gladly say it was a lovely trip for the entire family. My two kids loved the experienced and we will be visiting this lovely place again soon.

From check in to check out, the whole experience was lovely.
Very friendly and engaging staff, good selection of food and welcoming locals.

Rooms - rooms were okay, comfortable but it does feel a bit dated but to be honest with the hot weather, you are either at the bar or in the pool so the rooms are more like just to change or sleep.
Given the price of the package, I think rooms can do with some work plus it comes down to personal preferences too.

For eg, there is no brush in the room so if you spill anything you gotta look for a housekeeping staff or call reception which is not bad but it’s not very practical at times.
Secondly, with the hot climate and surrounding palm trees etc; you will find ants in the rooms; so if you have fear of ants then I would suggest that you either buy some repellents with you or keep your room in perfect condition which is not possible all the time.
Other thing we noticed was there is no drying rack beside the sink once you have cleaned any plates and the layout is not ideal as you are just putting the clean plates on top of the cooker/electric burner.

Rooms comes with living room space which has got a wooden table and 4 chair. Balcony in front, decent size - we opted for the sea view so it was great at night times to look out but some people go for the pool view so it’s a personal preference.
Big bathroom, ideal for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) and master bedroom has got 2 single beds aligned together to make a double bed with sufficient storage in place with functioning ac and fan.
There are two tvs in the room as well but we never tried them out as we spent most of days out in the pool, kids clubs activities etc.

Outside you have got one big pool and small pool.
Two restaurants on site with their unique themes ; my suggestion would be to download the royal sun bay app so it will keep you right with activities, food theme etc.
for the evening, there is kids activities and then shows for both kids and adults to enjoy. Staff are really friendly and always willing to help ; even though you are useless at communicating in Spanish as 95% of the staff can communicate with English which is a real bonus for us or Atleast in our case.

There is also a 24 hr doctor available on site as well if any immediate medical attention is required
Reception staff work on 24/7, so there is always someone available to help.

Noise levels - it’s within limits
It’s a great mix of family entertainment and also to
Know the culture.
For us, we didn’t find the noise thing an issue.

Value - it really depends on you.
If you book directly with royal sun bau then you can eligible for 5% discount, it’s not a lot
But something better than nothing and as previously mentioned; before reaching to royal sun bau, download the app.

In our case, our holiday was booked via jet2 holidays so they were fantastic from checking in to check out, they are available all the way, you will see them in the airport, they will guide you to boarding, baggage, passport assistance (if it’s your first time) ; transit and the same when you are returning.
As a package for the 5 day holiday it was a wee bit on the pricer side as ours was half board but if you are able to bag a bargain ie get all inclusive then it’s really worth as end of the day, a holiday is all about an experience and on this occasion it was a great experience for our family and I’m sure we will return again in the future.

Personally, even though the ants scenario or few basic things here and there, we felt the experience was great thus leaving an excellent review but I know it may not be the same for everyone.

A great return to the Royal Son Bou
Pros:

I returned a few days ago from our second lovely holiday here with my family. We stayed in the Hooky sea view room. Room was very clean and had everything we needed. The food was buffet style and very tasty, I ate fish and veg every day. My 5 year old son had everything he liked- they cater very well to children!.
The pool is fab and to be honest we spent most of our time here enjoying the sun and swimming. My favourite activity was pool aerobics and dancing, the staff made it so fun, extra points if you do it drunk.

The best thing about the resort is the staff, they are so welcoming and accommodating. I’m particularly grateful to Anabella for helping to organise a cake for my husbands birthday up in Los Olivos, It was so last minute that I asked and she still pulled it out of the bag for me, Fernando was also amazing here too, thank you.

Iker and Jorge were wonderful, they went the extra mile every day, were lovely with our son and with us. It was great to see them again. I hope that the hotel recognises and rewards staff like them.

The children’s activities are good at Kiko land, the splash pad is a nice addition. The children’s club staff work really hard putting on shows and running activities during the day in the boiling heat. They do such a great job.

We are booking 14 nights next summer. And looking forward to returning. I think this place is worth coming to, it’s very family oriented and caters well to that demographic. If you come here you won’t be disappointed.

Second visit didn't disappoint!
Pros:

Our second visit to the Royal Son Bou, and first as a family of 4.
We were here 30th June until 7th July and our boys are 3.5 years old and 9 months old.

We opted for a 2 bed Cuqui Royal apartment as this meant the baby was in our room in a travel cot and the toddler had his own room, rather than being on a sofa bed in the lounge. This meant neither child was ditsturbed by the other one and it felt like it gave us a bit more space for them to play as the living area wasn't doubling up as a bedroom! We were in apartment D411 which was a ground floor apartment. There was no view as such, however our balocony overlooked lots of flowers and a palm tree which actually made it really lovely, and very peaceful! The apartment was well equipped - fridge, microwave, hob, cutlery, crockery and high chair. There was a full bathroom off the main bedroom and a smaller shower room, with a perfect toddler sized sink. A cot and baby bath were provided, along with bed rails for our toddler. Check in was easy, we arrived around 1pm and our apartment was ready for us.

The facilities are excellent for 2 young children. Both loved the kids pool and Kikoland - we never left them here as our 3 year old is too shy, but it was nice that he could enjoy everything there at his own pace and many of the staff made an effort to chat to him and include him. The splash pad is a great addition - he absolutely loved it!

We stayed half board and thought the food was very good and with plenty of options each meal time.

Staff in all areas were amazing with the kids - always saying hello and waving to them and generally making a fuss of them.

The hotel is spotless - the apartments are cleaned daily and communal areas swept and mopped. We saw people cleaning the sunbeds on a morning, cleaning windows on a afternoon, I don't think the cleaning team ever stop!

We contacted reception one morning as our baby had been sick on some of the bedding and within the hour someone was there changing all the beds. We also needed to see the doctor with our 3 year old and requested a room visit - he was there within 15 minutes, despite it being 8pm on a Sunday night.

There's not loads to do in the local area, but the beach is beautiful and great for kids, there's a few nice restaurants and handy shops - we particularly liked El Casoin for sandwiches and salads for lunch and Ben's Gelato (used to be JJ's) for ice cream.

All in all another great holiday and we are already considering a 3rd visit!

Just great for families
Pros:

This hotel is going to be difficult to beat for an enjoyable summer holiday with children.
The grounds are well kept and attractive, the facilities are excellent, the food is tasty and varied, the staff are helpful and genuinely seem to enjoy their work. The location is good for a few shops and restaurants/cafes and the stunning beach is just a short walk.
Jorge, Fernando and Iker were 3 staff in Los Olivios that we remembered for providing an excellent service. We preferred to eat dinner at La Basilica as it seemed a little quieter, and my daughter was fascinated by the robot!
We are vegetarian and still found the choice to be quite varied and we enjoyed the theme nights for healthy bowl and Italian the most. We really enjoyed having table service for coffees at breakfast too.
While our daughter didn’t want to be left at Kikoland as she is very shy, she loved going there with us for a break from the pool. The splash park is a great addition to this. She did play some games in the children’s pool with some of the Kikoland staff on our last day. Lucia (possibly) made a nice effort with her to join in.
The only negatives I could say were the rooms are a little dated in decor, but it didn’t bother us. The noise from other rooms also travelled but again, it wasn’t a big issue. There were more steps than I would have liked, with our youngest in a pushchair. I could only see one ramp around the large pool, so this wasn’t great.
There was a large knife in a drawer which was easily accessible by children in the mini kitchen of our room. Also I thought the mini disco and shows were on quite late for children but that said, my daughter really loved the Disney show!

A great 2nd visit… with a couple of niggles
Pros:

Returned this July for 10 days having had an outstanding visit in June last year. The food was as good as last year and restaurant staff work tirelessly to clear tables and help guests. We stayed on an all inclusive basis and felt food offered a good variety during our stay. We preferred La Basilica for breakfast as was next to Kikoland and Los Olivios for dinner. Lunch in either snack bar or at Los Olivios and also offered good variety. Drinks were good quality and table service during nightly entertainment and at dinner was a nice touch.
We stayed again in a one bed pool view apartment with sofa bed in lounge for children. This felt quite a small set up both years but as we were AI we didn’t need the cooking facilities. The view to pool was great.
Kikoland is without a doubt the standout of the hotel. My 11 year old took part in activities all day (football, table tennis, water polo, aqua dance etc) and loved the Royal Club in evening with friends where they played pool, table tennis and PS5/Nintendo, all whilst supervised by entertainment staff. Although my 6 year old was more hesitant with activities, we stayed with him in Kikoland and he loved the colouring in, soft play, bouncy castle and the foam party. Special mention to Serj, Claudia, Leonard, Anna, Edu, Sezar and Rosa who are a credit to the hotel (and many more whose names I didn’t get).
We had a 10 day break from start of July and the first week felt a lot more relaxing and calm. The last few days there was an influx of new guests and things felt a lot busier. Restaurants required a small wait at door to let tables finish and for staff reset tables (not a big issue as was done very quickly). Restaurants as a result felt much much busier when dining. This was not the case end of June last year or our first week in July.
Another niggle in final few days was the reserving of sunbeds. We had no issue at start of break returning from breakfast around 10 and securing pool side beds. However, at end of stay all beds were reserved, yet sat empty, some for long periods. The hotel states reserving is not tolerated and a note attached to each bed. This is as absolutely not enforced and I spoke to other guests sharing similar frustrations.
Final niggle was the sound proofing in apartments. Our bedroom backed onto another apartment and we had many wakeups due to crying, shouting and general noise through the wall. We didn’t experience this last year so we’re perhaps just unlucky with location.

Overall another great stay and we will consider returning next year, earlier than we did this year. It’s an outstanding hotel for families and one I think we will struggle to beat. Thanks to all at RSB!!
