The Hardiman is a lovely historic hotel next to the Galway rail station. Our room was large, beautiful and well-equipped. Breakfast was generous. We did have to move rooms, however, when our first room overlooked the train station and we could hear the beeping of the bus gate every time it opened (every several minutes). We were upgraded to a lovely suite, so no complaints. If you are noise-sensitive, note that when you make your room selection.
It was a lovely place. You could see the grandness of it. Loved the lobby and bar areas. The jr. suite we were in was grand. The ceilings were so tall, the windows were stunning. The marble bathroom was very neat. The tub was amazing, so deep. There were parts of the hotel that needs some refresh, like the hallways to the room, or parts of the bathroom, but overall it was a great place.
Conveniently located near the train. Very inviting flower boxes and lovely entrance. The hotel is smartly furrnished, very clean and tidy. Staff is attentive and helpful; quite professional. Rooms and bath were spacious with ample room for personal belongings, comfortable bed and lovely seating area.
The breakfast offers a vast variety of food choices including a personal order available and is served in an elegant dining setting. The wait staff was attentive, immedistely serving a pot of coffee and/or tea with fresh toast to the table.
Check in and check out were fast and seamless. All in all, a stellar experience . With no hesitation I would recommend to my friends.
In addition to dining for lunch and dinner in the hotel, sa plethora of dining options are a short walk as well as a shopping center.
Great dinner party in McNeills.
Basement bar in Eyre Sq. Worth a visit.
This was an amazing stay from the spotless room to the fantastic staff. Breakfast was beautiful and well made . The front desk staff had great recommendations as well as being welcoming and going above and beyond. Thank you to Bradley for the special surprise on the new of our engagement .
The staff were fantastic. Very friendly and particularly helpful.
There was a wet, musty smell in the hall and lift.
The property was gorgeous. The rooms were large and comfortable. We ate at the Oyster Bar and MacNeills and both were delicious. It was right on Eyre Square, close to all city center attractions
Not a thing
We booked 4 rooms > one ( room215) was very nice , spacious had a great bathroom , two rooms were adequate. furniture old and bathrooms need re vamping and in room 201 the toilet had not been flushed and there was urine in the toilet bowl. The next day there was no water nor toilet rolls supplied. but the biggest disappointment was room 214. It was tiny, the bathroom was sooo old fashioned. ,the shower a throw back to the 60 s. It was hard to believe it was in the same hotel as room 215, it was also charged at the same rate as the other rooms.
Breakfast was very disappointing, the bread tasted like it had been left out overnight. the bacon was chewy and tasteless. I left feeling hungry .
some of the staff were lovely with smiles and great attitude, lets not talk about the grumpy men in the basement bar, if you dont want to serve customers , why work there
We complained about 214 but were told the hotel was full and the guests could not be moved. we complained to management as we were leaving on Sunday and they were very sorry, but not as sorry as me, having spent quite a lot of money for poor quality service. we were offered nothing as recompense except 40 euros off another stay. i will never be back. the free glass of fizz on arrival didnt happen, I saw no evidence of anyone being offered a glass of anything.
We left behind a bottle of champagne in the fridge in room 215 our mistake, but when our friends asked to retrieve it, it was gone !!!!!!
The hotel is trading on its past, it is great location and nice interiors and bedrooms, but there is a general lack of high quality attention to detail and management oversight.
When we arrived for breakfast at 7am there was only one staff member and it was slow to get attention and service. The breakfast buffet was ok but below average for this category of hotel, it needed a real uplift. It was generally very average.
I think for the cost of the hotel it was poor value
The location of this Hotel is perfect, especially if taking the train or even the bus from other locations in Ireland. This is our 2nd time for staying at this hotel and each time was a wonderful experience. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The Irish Breakfast that is included is always delicious and served very quickly, especially if you are ordering something off the menu. We had a huge room which worked out perfectly as we had a table and 4 chairs and could play cards each night with the couple that we traveled with after we were done exploring Galway. The hotel is always clean and little noise at all in our room. Again the atmosphere of this hotel is perfect and the ambiance of an older hotel is perfect.
Great location, good breakfast, oyster bar is nice, room was good, MacNeils pub I would recommend giving it a miss, not the best, but staff were very friendly
Convenient, clean . Great reception staff
nothing to note
great location but not a 4 star hotel - small rooms in need of a renovation, breakfast included which was convenient and well executed
