Location was excellent. Staff lovely, so helpful
Staff were amazing!
Furnishings/carpet were a bit mismatched and tatty
The bedroom and the scenery
Food was a bit hit and miss, first night and first breakfast great. Second meals poor, the added hair in my breakfast didn't help
Amazing location, looks beautiful…on the outside
Looks can be deceiving! Inside was tired, dirty and in need of maintenance. The room was devoid of any character, freezing cold, and broken beds and faulty electrics caused us to request a refund and go to a Premier Inn! Very disappointing, made bearable only by the amazing understanding from the receptionist on duty that night!
The hotel is an attractive old castle with a great view towards Stirling, so is an interesting place to stay. The room was warm and comfortable.
The dinner menu was a little limited, but it was out of season.
Friendly staff, well stocked bar, charming building
floors creek, but that is expected in an older building.
Amazing staff- so friendly and accommodating. Clean and comfortable and well located

Staying in a castle! Room was lovely and enjoyed the view
The family feel the staff gave and the place was quirky and really warm and welcoming
Nothing
The room and bathroom was clean.
The food was fresh and tasty.
We were the first people in the restaurant and the waitress was slow to serve us. Waited for our plates to be cleared at the end of the meal and to be asked for drinks and dessert, but waitress never came back.
We had to go searching for her to settle our bill.
We were overcharged on our children’s meals, paying £17 per child on a small fish and chips each.
Music blaring from behind the restaurant bar spoiled the vibe - whilst i appreciated Olivia Rodrigo’s music, my 7 year old doesn’t need to listen to Vampire’s lyrics of “fame f*cker” being shouted at him whilst he eats his meal. Not sure the older patrons in the restaurant appreciated this either.
I appreciate it’s an old building but you literally couldn’t move in our room for the noisy creaky floorboards. It was torturous, particularly with other families moving about also. Our room was next to the main thoroughfare so we could hear everyone passing at all times of night.
Children were given a single duvet, 1 pillow and a click-clack sofa to share (7 and 9 year old boy/girl). Obviously we shared our bedding with them but it feels like they weren’t considered in our booking.
Roll top bath looked beautiful…. But plug stop doesnt fit so water drained out whilst trying to take a bath. Very disappointing.
Some of the furnishings are literally threadbare.
Check out was advertised at 11am. We had housekeeping knocking on our door at 10am sharp asking for the room key back. We were leaving anyway, but were tutted at when we had to do a couple of journeys from the room to the car with our luggage. Very rude.
I asked for a bottle of Prosecco to be ready in our room upon arrival as a new year treat (to be added to our bill). This didn’t happen.
Location and price
The staff were polite but under motivated and at times unprofessional.
Telling us how busy they were and annoyed
Food was ok , dining room is too big and could heer everyone’s conversations.
Our room was very big and spotlessly clean. .
The bathroom is also very big with plenty of hot water and clean fluffy towels.
The breakfast was good and freshly cooked to order. There was a good choice of cereals, toast and drinks.
The settees and chair are a little worse for wear and could do with replacing or recovering.
The restaurant wasn't open. We had to go out foe our evening meal.
