Pros:

Pros:

Setting and look of the building was great. Meals onsite were good enough

Cons:

Very squeaky floors, not great to sleep with noisy guests above. Great old building though and understand it's all part of the character

Tolle Unterkunft auf einer Schottlandreise
Pros:

Es ist eine außergewöhnliche Unterkunft im Schloss. Zimmer und Ambiente sind authentisch stimmig. Serviceangebot Restaurant und Bar sind ebenfalls gut. Leider hört man die Straße bei offenem Fenster..

Cons:

Nichts, alles war gut.

Pros:

Great location for exploring Stirling and surrounding areas. Food was well cooked and presented. Friendly atmosphere in the bar and lounge

Cons:

Waitress on one night made it feel like Fawlty Towers. Chair in restaurant had wobbly leg her response was to tell my wife to grab another chair, she spilt red wine whilst pouring and placed glasses across the other side of the table. Cleared one plate after the main course and left one on the table. Spent more time on her mobile phone texting than focusing on her customers

Pros:

The hotel was in a good location, the building interesting the staff friendly. Parking was plentiful and the rooms good, the bed comfortable.

Cons:

Meals took a long time, we ordered breakfast at just after 8 am and by 8.30 it had not arrived, we had to leave without breakfast (which we had paid for) due to having an appointment. The room items, especially bathroom were very small (shampoo, soap etc.) and no bottled water in the room (it was a hot day). Dinner was the same but as we had no time pressure it didn't matter though I ordered coffee which they forgot and when reminded it was delivered without the milk I had requests.

Cons:

It’s so close to being a great place. I mean it’s a castle! Just needs some tlc - no soap dish in the shower, towel rack broken …and the room was so plain. Could ‘jazz’ it up with some old paintings from any garage sale.

Beautiful building and location let down by restaurant and service
Pros:

Beautiful building and surrounds. Rooms were comfortable although noisy floorboards from floor above.

Cons:

Booked for dinner only to arrive and be told that the restaurant is full and our booking didn’t matter. Told to wait in bar until table available. Waited another 15 minutes. Waitress was not friendly and actually was quite rude and abrupt and seemed put out because we were not happy about being doubled booked.
Food was average. Bruschetta was a piece of bread with tomato cherries cut in half and melted cheese. Not what I was expecting.
