Fantastisch verblijf gehad.

Rat in the room and chaotic response from staff – extremely stressful experience

Our stay here turned into an extremely unpleasant and stressful experience.

During the night there was a rat inside our room, running around and climbing onto surfaces and belongings. It even ran directly across my clothes and suitcase, contaminating our personal items.

When we informed the staff, their response made the situation even worse. Staff members came into the room chasing the rat around with a brush, attempting to hit it while it ran around the room and under the bed. At one point they were even trying to catch it using a rubber glove, while insisting it was “only a mouse.” The rat was still clearly hiding under the bed while they were claiming it was gone, which made the whole situation feel chaotic and uncomfortable.

We eventually had to insist on being moved to another room ourselves, as this was not offered immediately.

Another major concern is that all the rooms with sliding doors have roughly an inch gap at the top, which creates an obvious entry point for animals during the night. The rat also seemed completely unfazed by people being in the room, which gave the impression that this may not be an unusual occurrence.

The night was also made worse by very loud roosters starting around 2:30–3:00am, meaning we got almost no sleep.

Because of the situation we checked out first thing the next morning and moved to another hotel immediately.

Although the hotel eventually signed and stamped a document confirming we were entitled to a full refund due to the rat in the room, we still had to go through a long and frustrating process to actually get the refund processed.

This experience caused significant stress, forced us to relocate, and disrupted part of our trip. Based on what we experienced, I would strongly advise travellers to think carefully before booking here.

Pros:

Had an amazing stay here. The hotel area is very green and lovely kept. Very nice pool as well. Staff is super nice and ready to help with anything. Especially Iayu and Dewa.
Location is not super central. Has pros and cons. To the center of Ubud it is 10 min by scooter.

Bardzo dobrze wyposażone apartamenty. Przemiła i zyczliwa obsługa. Sniadania mozna powiedziec no limit, mozna zamowic z karty wszystko co jest dostepne. Polecam!

İlgi alaka temizlik özen her şey mevcuttu. Aksam yemeği yeme fırsatımız oldu oldukca lezzetli özenli tabakları vardı. Yağmurlu havada havuza girmek cok keyifliydi. Doğası, sessizliği, atmosferi mükemmeldi. Dost canlısı personellerini ve kedilerini cok sevdik.

Классное соотношение цены завтраков и ужинов. Советую брать номер с завтраком. Отель расположен на тихой улице, но сразу с нее выезд на очень оживленную и шумную, просьо надо быть готовым. Персонал вежлив и внимателен. Территория отель шикарна. Сет завтрак очень сытный

Cons:

В первую ночь нам очень сильно мешал спать петух, но мы попросили поменять комнату и проблема решилась. Не советуем жить в номере 202.

Pros:

This was my second time staying at Merak Village, and it was just as wonderful as the first. The location in Ubud is perfect—close to the center and very accessible. The staff were incredibly kind and went above and beyond to fulfill all our requests. The food was delicious and the overall vibe of the hotel was beautiful.

A special thanks to Dewa, who took great care of us. He was extremely helpful with organizing tours and recommending the best places to visit. We truly appreciate his hospitality. We will definitely be coming back again!

Excellent Service, Facilities, and Overall Experience
Pros:

This was the best hotel stay I’ve ever experienced while travelling. This is actually the second review I’m writing for this hotel, and I’m sure I will be back again.

The staff were exceptionally kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They were always helpful, and any special requests I had were met with politeness and care. The space was consistently clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere felt warm and peaceful. The location is safe and convenient, close to the centre but away from the busy areas, making it quiet.

I enjoyed the food (excellent quality and delicious) as well as the activities organised by the hotel. The Saturday evening all-you-can-eat dinner with live music was fantastic. I also joined activities such as offering-making and a cooking class, which gave me beautiful memories and a deeper appreciation of Balinese culture. I highly recommend participating in these experiences if you stay here.

A special thank you to Ayu, Tata, Dewa, Yoga, and Made for being so welcoming and for making my stay especially memorable.

If I could list every single staff member, I absolutely would, the whole team made this experience lovely.

Outstanding experience throughout, I would happily recommend this hotel and stay here again.

Pros:

В номере чисто. Смена полотенец/белья каждый день. Еда вкусная. Обслуживание отличное.

Cons:

Небольшой минус петухи, но мы спим крепко, нас не особо беспокоили. Кто спит чутко - это минус. Они довольно громкие.
