Booked this with Lastminute in Feb based on pictures and reviews. Had email from TCH confirming twin room. Arrived at hotel Friday tired and hungry after bad early morning airport experience at Bristol. Told we had been moved to a sister hotel (with poor reviews) and offered a map to find our way there. Unacceptable service. Manager utterly useless. After 45 minutes offered us refund or complimentary taxi to sister hotel and booking to be honoured there, when I asked for the refund he denied offering this and refused to arrange for me to speak to his senior when he suggested he had been liaising with them. Seemed to find situation humourous and justified it with this ‘happens often recently’. There is more empathy in my toenail, the manager is better employed as a doorstop. AVOID THIS HOTEL YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED…
Was apprehensive as we were moved to the sister hotel across the sqaure, only to find newly refurbished, came in on the Saturday night to find a complementary tray of cakes and fruit plus a free drink in the hotel bar for having to move hotel, which we most appreciated.
I was traveling with a wheelchair user the facilities were excellent with a bright large bedroom and ample room in the bathroom
Our booking was transferred to the plaza hotel so this review is for that hotel which in the transfer email was meant to have been recently refurbished and recently opened. This was not the case, the hotel has been undergoing gradual refurbishment over 3 years and none of the bathrooms have been done.
Pros: Staff were very nice and rooms were for the most part clean, nice decor. Beds were very comfortable. Location to the tram service to take you into Dublin city was good, just a 10 minute walk. And then 45 minute tram to abbey street which puts you close to temple bar, about a 10 minute walk.
Cons:
Restaurant only serves breakfast, and the bar food is awful. You're better off going to the shopping centre for food just bear in mind nothing opens until after 9am, 11am on Sundays. There's also a McDonald's nearby.
Bathrooms haven't been refurbished so cracked bathroom tiles, bath was in poor condition.
There's a lot of noise from the road and pedestrians in the evening. I was kept awake by screaming drunk women at about 1230/1am. Not the hotel's fault, but again something to bear in mind if you decide to book here.
Check in was pretty bad, meant to be 3pm but was closer to 4pm. We had to check out early, 535am but noone about causing delays.
Overall despite really nice staff, a very expensive (£425 for 2 nights) but disappointing hotel. Would not recommend.
Did not check into this Hotel.....
The hotel is recently renovated and new. the staff was incredible and went out of their way to provide tips and directions. The hotel is a short 8-10 minute walk to the Luas through the mall. From there, you can get anywhere in Dublin without sitting in traffic. Great hotel and great experience.
Nice staff. Good breakfast
This hotel is really lovely. The staff went above
And beyond and helped us quickly with our needs. The hotel room
Is spacious. The dining table in the room
Is really a bonus. The location is about 20 minutes to city center and 30 minutes to the airport. Hotel is really clean and well stocked. This hotel is close to a grocery store and restaurants
Tallaght Cross Hotel is very nice place. It is beautiful and pleasant. There is a park not far from the hotel and sightly nature around. Very comfortable and cosy rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Easy to find, parking is included and convenient and rooms are spacious
Property is nice and central for visiting the Wicklow/Dublin area. Used it as a base for a couple of days travelling to Bray and Powerscourt. Free parking also. Near to a shopping centre with plenty of cafes etc.
Lovely clean hotel very comfortable mattress and pillows, nice reception area staff nice and welcoming, just a little hard to find, parking available, nice clean reception, shower excellent, menu for food not that good but walking distance to more restaurants
Located just a few minutes walk from the Square shopping centre in Tallaght, Dublin. Check in was smooth and easy. No stress. I had phoned a day in advance to see if I could check in early as I had a christening to attend and the receptionist couldn't have been more helpful. There was Free car parking and excellent customer service as I expected from this great hotel. Rooms were warm and bathroom perfect. I was glad of the Air-Con later in the night as I like to sleep in a cool room. I didn't have breakfast or eat in the restaurant as time was against me but I would definitely recommend the Tallaght Cross hotel and I would certainly stay here again. 10/10 for me on this occasion so I will definitely update when I stay again and I will certainly try breakfast next time.
Asked for quiet room - got one by the main dooe which was extremely noisy. Attitude of staff at reception was poor - like I was putting them out asking to change rooms.
Rooms have thin walls. You can hear whats happening in other rooms and all the doors bang incredibly loud.
Location is not good for town either. Its miles away from city centre.
We stayed here as I needed to be close to the Tallaght hospital for an appointment the next day.
On arrival the lady on reception was thoughtful. I’m disabled and she ensured we had an easily accessed room.
The room was clean and generally all in order. However, we had difficulty sleeping as the room was really hot. On inspection during the night we discovered the air conditioning was set at 28C. It really affected our sleep and in my case this has unfortunate consequences.
We were recommended a restaurant for dinner which turned out to not be very good. It would have been lovely to be given a list of different options.
Breakfast was ok but everyone at breakfast spoke Russian or maybe Ukrainian and we felt very out of place. Even one of these guests stood at our table and talked across us to the guests at the table beside as we ate our breakfast. This was uncomfortable.
Coffee at breakfast was excellent. Choice of food wasn’t great especially if you wanted a healthy breakfast which I did. We didn’t go hungry!
When we arrived in the dining room there was no available staff to seat us or help us with breakfast in any way which is unfortunate when you have a physical disability. Plus some staff interaction would have been nice.
Staff we met on the lift were courteous.
I certainly wouldn’t say we had a negative experience but we felt like foreigners in our own country and like we didn’t really exist. All in all a very impersonal and lonely experience.
My room was well furnished and quiet. The staff is friendly and prepared, they accepted the check-in after the allowed hours.
The breakfast needs to be improved slightly, at rush hour the coffee machines were almost all out of order.
Good basic hotel. great value for money. no frills. breakfast service was slow but quality of food good
The customer service was above and beyond . They get it !
Good
Great staff and very comfortable..
