Hotel Gartenstadt

About 3 km from the centre of Dortmund and only half a dozen stops by the U-Bahn (U47), you'll find Grill-house Gartenstadt in Lübkestraße 10.
Well, what a discovery! If you love your meat, this is the place to come!
The “steak sommelier”, Martin Hesterberg had his own steak academy and is well-known in the region. Martin imports the finest cuts of meat from around the world, from Ireland, Japan, the US and of course, black Angus beef from Australia. I left it to him to suggest something and he lovingly prepared a magnificent dish of the tenderest steak: beef medallion with skirt steak; baby asparagus and gratin potatoes with a rich jus. It was to die for!
I’d never had skirt steak before but it will be my go-to steak from now on! Melt-in-the-mouth tenderness; full of flavour; cooked as it should be: seared on the outside, beautifully rare inside; no condiments required.
Entré morsels of beef tartare with popcorn and wild mushrooms in cream and a perfect espresso and Venezuelan liqueur afterwards.
Give yourself a treat! As I said, if you love your meat, this is how it should be prepared and savoured. A superb, memorable meal!

I had to book a hotel in Dortmund for a night. the choice was good enough due to the position and price. It's easy to reach the hotel and leave your car in its parking place. Then we can take the tramway and get into the center in 15min.
the hotel is small, the rooms are large enough some of them with large balcony. the upper rooms have small bathrooms, very inconvenient for tall people. the breakfast was decent. only one young lady takes care of the guests and that one speaks a poor English language.
i recommend the hotel for business trips.
