You get what you pay for and it's cheap.
Pros:

We liked the look of the outside of the b&b.

Cons:

No hot water. No heating. One of the single beds had collapsed in the middle, so my son just sank into a cocoon.

Pros:

Truly disgusting – avoid at all costs.
We booked the Pinegrove Hotel Carlisle last minute for a family stay and were horrified from the moment we arrived. The entire hotel reeks — a sickening mix of stale curry, damp, and general filth that hits you as soon as you walk in and never lets up.

The room was appalling. Extremely dated, dirty, and clearly neglected. The carpets were thick with years of embedded dust and grime, and the bedding was so unpleasant that we had to sleep on a coat just to avoid the pillows. That alone should tell you everything.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, there were mouse traps placed in the room. Not hidden discreetly — actually in the room. The idea of needing pest control equipment in a guest bedroom is alarming and completely unacceptable, especially when staying with family.

This hotel isn’t just tired — it feels unhygienic and borderline uninhabitable. It desperately needs a full refurbishment and a professional deep clean. We only stayed because we had no other option and will never return. Save yourself the stress and book literally anywhere else.

Funkar för en natt om man inte har stora krav
Pros:

Vänligt bemötande i frukostsalen. Läget. Att hundar tillåts - fri parkering

Cons:

Dyrt att betala 30 pund för hundarna när hotellet var ganska enkelt och slitet

Disappointing drop in standards from previous stay and will not stay again.
Pros:

Convenient location (we had stayed before the change of owners) and pet friendly.

Cons:

Since our last stay there has clearly been cost cutting going on. Fruit juice at breakfast was watered down. Breakfast menu had items on it that were no longer available. Staff were sullen and unkempt.
