Conveniently situated for where I was travelling to following day. The pub restaurant opposite was good and the prices were excellent.
Waited at reception a long time before someone finally came to book us in. Said it could have been done at the adjacent pub/restaurant opposite a few steps away. If that was the case a sign on the reception desk should have informed us of that.
The food was excellent with some not found in other Greene King locations I have stayed at.
Seating area for food by the door to the outside had a lot of traffic and with a cooling breeze looked uncomfortable for the group there.
Clean , comfortable friendly staff.
Nothing not to like
Initial impressions were hopeful and we had a welcome reception by the staff and they kindly offered to help with the luggage. The rooms are quaintly set around a courtyard up a flight of stairs and all the doors open directly onto this. It did feel a bit strange not to have a room door opening up to a hotel corridor.
The room itself was oaky, clean and the twin of a generous size.
Returning back from a meal out our room was extremely warm - and not from the weather I hasten to add. The radiator was on and when the reception staff came to look at it they managed to turn it down but not off. As even they agreed it was too hot to stay there a new room was organised. This was a double however and much smaller. Even worse was the noise from the room next door. From 11 pm - 4 am! We complained to the night staff twice who did come and talk to the guests but this made no difference. Furthermore, breakfast was poor. Just the cereal packets with no extras for the continual choice, some pastries and fruit. The milk pot was broken and the hot water for the tea already empty and this was soon after 8 am.
Everything.
Toilet difficult to flush.
