Nothing
A fabulous hotel. The staff were great, very friendly and efficient. Our room was scrupulously clean and the hospitality tray was very welcome. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner and loved it. In fact our Silverstone experience was enhanced because of the staff and the restaurant.
However - our room layout!!!! It’s terrible. The bathroom is part of the bedroom! Not good at all. Just a note - the hook for the towel is on the wrong side of the shower door!
Saying all that we would definitely stay here again even though the megastore below the hotel doesn’t have any merchandise for our British drivers - only for Lando.
We stayed at Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone as a large family group with my wife, our three young children, my wife’s parents and her sister, and it genuinely couldn’t have gone better.
What stood out straight away was how well the team handled a group of our size. Before we even arrived, Alice at the front desk was incredibly helpful via Hilton’s messaging service and arranged for all of our rooms to be together, including a connecting door which made a huge difference with the kids. It took all the stress out of the stay before we’d even checked in. When we arrived, Emily on reception was exactly what you want, warm, welcoming, professional and naturally friendly.
The evening restaurant team were excellent. Ellis, who was overseeing things, has a great presence about him. Very personable, very capable and clearly someone who leads from the front. Nothing felt like too much trouble. Adam was brilliant with the children and has a natural humour that just puts everyone at ease. At one point I found out he’s a Millwall fan which, as a Palace fan, could have been a problem, but in fairness to him he was far nicer than some I’ve met so we kept things friendly. Beth was working alongside him and the two of them were a great team. She has a genuine warmth and a great smile which really adds to the experience.
Breakfast was just as good. May, or Mai I think, Filipino with the Guns N’ Roses tattoos, was fantastic. Full of personality, very funny and delivering great service throughout. Robert, the breakfast restaurant manager, was also excellent. Very well spoken, very welcoming and clearly very experienced. I overheard him dealing with a tricky situation and he handled it calmly and professionally which says a lot.
Food across the stay was very strong. Breakfast was exactly what you’d expect from a Hilton, good quality with plenty of choice. Dinner was a highlight as well. The pork belly bites were outstanding and I had steak twice, once blue and once rare, both cooked perfectly which is something a lot of places struggle to get right.
The setting is what really makes this hotel unique. Being right next to the track means there is always something to see. We stayed during a classic car event and could watch everything from our balcony which was a brilliant experience. You can also view from the restaurant terrace. Over our stay we saw everything from classic cars to Formula 3 and track day cars including Lamborghinis, Skyline R35s, Lotus track cars, Caterhams, various Porsche 911s, Ariel Atoms, tuned M5s, R8s, AC Cobras, classic Minis, a 60s Mustang and more. It is one of those places where you constantly find yourself watching what comes past next.
It is also right next to the Silverstone Museum which is well worth a visit. There is a huge amount to see including a vintage Rover, Le Mans cars and a fantastic collection of Formula 1 cars from across the decades, including some of the very early ones. There is even a car you can sit in for a photo which the kids loved. The museum also covers the history of the site, from its World War II origins through to the local history behind the circuit and how the corners got their names, which was surprisingly fascinating.
A final mention to the General Manager, David Hughes. It is clear he has built a strong, engaged team and that really shows throughout the hotel.
Overall, a brilliant stay. The team, the food and the unique location all combine to make this somewhere we would happily return to and recommend to others.
Good location, fantastic view of the track
Exceptional iconic location for any fan of motor racing. Thoughtfully designed hotel. Nice room, comfortable bed.
Was an amazing hotel
Nothing to improve!
Accommodation was comfortable and spacious with a good amount for storage. I also liked the separate toilet and shower. Very comfortable bed.
Breakfast was not so good. The porridge was cold and the apples were tasteless. The cooked food wasn't very warm either. It's a shame as everything else was excellent.
Room was comfy decorated good
Location obviously was perfect
Food was not worth the price
Breakfast was terrible nothing was hot . Had to keep asking chef for things as they had run out . Filled quickly I have to agree
Location, room and facilities
Breakfast could have been better. Food was not very hot and lack of gluten and dairy free hot food options.
