Excellent hospitality
Pros:

Stayed for four nights and it was perfect. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. The staff is very warm and friendly and made us feel right at home. They served us incredibly plentiful, delicious and inventive vegan meals alongside traditional local dishes (always vegan). The structure is in the medieval part of town and it's super characteristic. The town itself is a jewel. It was an absolute pleasure and i'd recommend it highly. I cannot wait to return.

Una torre, un hotel, un personale sublime
Pros:

Our third visit to the Albergo!
Pros:

This is the third time we have stayed at the Albergo and we will be coming back again without a doubt!! It is one of our favourite places to stay in Italy. Antonio and Maria Antonietta are the best hosts, children are welcomed with open arms and after a long days hike a delicious hearty dinner awaits you. It’s worth coming in any season of the year.

quiet and relax walking along the trails of "Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo"
Pros:

Civitella Alfedena is a small town in the middle of Abruzzo Mountains: many trails start just from the center of the town: Val di Rose, Val Iannanghera, Camosciara and many other nearby. Beautyful mountains, Marsicano, Greco, Amaro, and valleys, Val Fondillo (along Sangro River). There are trails for everybody: real mountaineer, young people, families, etc. The Borgo Antico La Torre, a previous noble palace, keeps the flavour of mountains, with old black and white pictures of sheepers going, long ago, for "transumanza" with their flocks: two weeks from Civitella to Candela in Apulia along old trails, the "tratturi". Antonio, the owner, knows basically all the trails of the surrounding area, and can give valuable suggestions. Beautyful with snow, in spring, in autumn and winter.

Simple, sufficient, friendly and in a wonderful location
Pros:

The owner took us in at very short notice after a camping disaster. He is extremely helpful and friendly. The family room had everything we needed and was very clean, and breakfast was adequate - other meals were not on offer to us, presumably because we were the only guests. The situation was great - the town itself is picture-perfect, and the surrounding walks and wildlife (particularly large mammals - we saw loads of boar, deer and chamois and one wild wolf, but failed to see any bears despite two evenings at a well known viewing spot) are very good indeed. In the town there are enclosures with captive wolves and lynx.
The best thing was, even with open windows, the complete silence at night. This might not be the case in high season!

Genuine Abruzzo hospitality in a beautiful location.
Pros:

This hotel is friendly, genuine and packed with charm. Antonio is the most personable host, with tremendous local knowledge and was very generous with his time, making us feel like we were his personal guests. The room looked out on the tiny paved streets, and was perfect for us. The food is so authentic, and excellent value. My children absolutely loved it, and we felt so well looked after. The walking trails into the most outstanding countryside start virtually from the door. The "car park" is actually a very beautiful orchard and garden, and an unexpected highlight was enjoying ice cold beer and nibbles in the wonderful garden upon returning from a warm walk in the hills.
We also enjoyed short night walks watching the magic of the fireflies. I would return with great pleasure, and recommend this wonderful place to anyone. Molte grazie, Antonio!

Good in every way - except the beds!
Pros:

I'm very surprised that nobody has commented on the incredibly hard mattresses! I spent a week here with a group and everybody said the beds were far too hard. Also they are very narrow singles, and so when your body starts to ache after ten minutes on one side you can't just turn over, you have to shoogle around so as not to fall out. I was told the doubles are simply two of the narrow singles pushed together.

However, if you can sleep ok in a narrow, rock-hard bed then to be fair the rest of the place is great. Excellent en-suite shower room with lovely hot water and lots of pressure. (Also the tap water tastes fabulous, I was told it comes straight from a mountain stream.)

The set evening meal is rustic, simple and plentiful. Breakfasts are good, except that the bread is always stale! It's tasty artisan bread but it ain't ever today's, possibly not even yesterday's!

The building and the setting are stunning, and the village is gorgeous. We even saw four young wild wolves playing one evening in the huge wild breeding enclosure in the village!

Antonio was a genial and friendly host and the young local girl who waits at tables morning, noon and night was lovely.

Very friendly and tremendous value
Pros:

Good home made cuisine and nice well heated rooms. Family friendly hotel, situated in the center of the (upper) part of the old village. Perfect location for hiking in the Camosciara mountains: the sentieri start right around the corner. Highly recommended!
