Casa de Vista Alta

Loved the cabins in nature that forced you to leave “hustle and bustle” of daily life behind. Scenic mountain and nature views breathtaking. Bird watchers paradise. On site restaurant had delicious meals. Would definitely recommend as a place to stay in Mindo

Lovely view, family friendly atmosphere. More like staying in someone’s house. The food was excellent. If you wanted choices, taxis were readily available and inexpensive. We hiked to the terribita and did some of the waterfall trails. Highly recommend if it is your style. My only wish would have been for better, faster coffee!

Not worth the money they charge for a room .

the casa is up a road away from the town so you have to get a taxi to anywhere except the tarabita to the waterfalls. The environment is lush and beautiful. The room of the cabin was spacious and clean and comfortable. The first night I stayed there was an accident which knocked out power to Mindo for most of the day, I think the water heater was electric and thus there was no hot water. The staff were very nice and helpful. I did not take meals at the casa so can’t comment on the food.

We had a magical stay at Casa Vista Alta. We stayed in the cabin, which is a bit of a distance from the lodge. I wouldn’t recommend it for folks that had mobility issues. However, the cabin was immersed in nature and conveyed a sense of serenity and Connection with the amazing jungle. The staff were kind the food delicious and I highly recommend this lodge.

As a solo traveler, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay than Casa de Alta. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome—they were friendly, accommodating, and always ready to help.

My room was cozy and comfortable, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. And the breakfast? Absolutely amazing! Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared—it was the best way to start my day. The morning view was just as incredible, with hummingbirds constantly fluttering around, making for a magical experience in the heart of the cloud forest.

The peaceful atmosphere and warm hospitality made my stay truly special. If you’re looking for a relaxing, welcoming spot in Mindo, I highly recommend Casa de Alta. I’ll definitely be back!

En la app refleja el precio a pagar en la propiedad es de 140, pero me cobraron más el IVA y eso no decía al momento de hacer la reserva y sobre la habitación la parte de la terraza estaba cerrada, y en las fotos muestra que si está abierto el paso

We had a lovely stay at Casa de Vista Alta in Mindo. It's a gorgeous property in a stunning location, high up on a hill, surrounded by a bird-filled cloud forest. The views from the veranda (and balconies) are spectacular.
The staff at the Casa were very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed hanging out with the Casa's dog, Kyova.
We spent one night in a room in the main house and the other night in a cabin. Breakfast was very tasty. We also ate dinner once at the main house -- tasty trout on the spacious veranda.
We greatly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning.

Very nice experience!

The pros for this property are endless! The property and surrounding area are breathtaking. The staff go above and beyond to ensure a happy stay. A breakfast of fruit, fresh juice, coffee, eggs, bread and jam using high quality, local ingredients. We felt safe in Mindo and the property is located in between the town and the excursions. We opted for dinner and a bird watching tour, i highly recommend both!

Absolutely lovely. Owned and operated by a local family. The staff is very kind and helpful. The views of wildlife are exceptional. We were very comfortable. We didn’t want to leave! Note that the road to the hotel is not paved. The local drivers are used to it. If arriving from Quito, get out at the Mindo town square and take a taxi $4-5 to the hotel. People there seem honest and hardworking.

This property is in a nice location, nature's paradise, lots of trees and birds around, I was delighted to see toucans and hummingbirds everyday(stayed for 4 nights) it's safe and quiet, staff is good, breakfast is free and it's quite good, there are also decent lunch and dinner options if u don't want to to go to town. Taxi ride is $4 if u want to go to town and Esther who is the caretaker will call for a taxi for u. She is very helpful with answering ur questions. Overall it's a good place, my only suggestion would be to have screen doors/windows so u can leave glass door/window open for airflow and not have mosquitoes/insects come in.

Horrible service. This place costs much more than the other hotels in town. The first night was fine. On the second night, when we came back from town, there was no power. No one informed us. We called the hotel and they said they’re workin it. We didn’t have power all that evening/night and the day after through checkout. After that initial phone call to the hotel, they stopped answering our texts and calls. We didn’t know what was happening. No one checked on us, no one brought us a flashlight. Within 30min our phones shut down cause we couldn’t charge them and we didn’t even have a flashlight in them. Couldn’t use our computers. It was pitch dark. We couldn’t do anything in the room, had to shower in the dark, search for our stuff in the dark. Couldn’t even use the jacuzzi we paid extra for. The most frustrating thing is that no one cared no one checked how we were doing. No one apologized the day after. We couldn’t go to the reception because it was a 10 min walk through complete darkness. We could have paid $100 less and stayed in a a room with light in town. Since then they have been ignoring our calls for refund for that horrible night. One of the worst experiences I had in a vacation. I do not recommend.

Wonderful breakfast, helpful staff, quaint and clean facilities.

It was a wonderful experience-everyone was extremely customer oriented and helpful at all times. Maibe is an asset to the business.
