I was comfortable beds and included breakfast was very nice.
The room was 129sq ft for three people. Very small but functional

It's a good hotel right near Ueno Station with breakfast included, which is incredibly difficult to find in Japan.
The cleanliness is excellent, and they offer everything from extra pillows to hair products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.
What I found quite unacceptable was the fact that in 2026, a hotel right next to Ueno Station has staff who don't speak a single word of English. It's well known that Japanese people often don't speak English, but at least the staff at a downtown hotel should speak it or at least understand something. There's also a sign at the reception that says "the staff doesn't speak English."
It's not 1945, so that could be improved.
Another thing I didn't like was that we stayed with them for four nights, and on the last morning we had an early train, so I asked for a takeaway breakfast, but it was nothing special—two ready-made pastries they usually serve, since we'd paid for it anyway. The guy at the front desk responded with a firm NO.
The last unpleasant thing is that the two guys at the front desk are rude.
So the hotel should hire more qualified, polite, and efficient staff.
An hotel in the heart of Ueno can't hire staff who don't speak a word of English in 2026! There's even a warning sign at the front desk stating that the staff doesn't speak English. It's tiring and annoying to use the translator every time. The staff isn't friendly, and breakfast is included. We asked for a packed breakfast for the last day because we had an early train, and the receptionist rudely gave us a firm NO. I paid for breakfast, and anywhere in the world, if I stay several nights in a hotel, or even just one night, if breakfast isn't available due to early flights or trains, they all offer a packed breakfast. So, a poor rating. They need English-speaking staff in 2026 and flexibility to meet their guests' needs.
