It was well placed with regard to getting to places.
Small working class neighborhood but short walk to tram, Galata tower, nice restaurants. Very charming boutique hotel.
Everything was great, from the strong A/C to the friendly staff.

Beauty balcony view of Galata Tower, just minutes walk away. Located in what is a now a Syrian neighborhood. You can find economical, genuine Syrian food just steps away but “NO” alcoholic drinks, for those one must go back up towards the Tower area. Want to thank Mehmed for his willingness to help.
Appreciated luggage storage and help from Mehmet in booking a taxi to the airport. We stayed twice in between overnight tour with Crowded Hose tours to Gallipoli and Troy. Was great to take overnight luggage only and know the rest was safe in Istanbul. The Galata and Tophane area is convenient area to stay. T1 tram and Bosporus boats close by. Uphill walk to the Galata Tower with 360 views and history.
Family room with balcony was in better condition than without. Little things like toilet button, but both have very tight space on bathroom. No door on second bedroom with twin bed. Good kitchen set up if you want to cook, but plenty of places to eat out close by. Supermarket and convenience stores also close.
We had a traditional Turkish breakfast delivered at 8 on our last day, but made own breakfast other days. Used service to wash clothes based on weight of laundry bag with same day return handy when traveling.
We were helped by staff at night when needed assistance with room key working, an iron etc but wanted to call out Mehmet who during the day gave us extra extra support.

We recently stayed at Selvese Suites in Istanbul for two days, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing.
To start with, the flush in the bathroom was broken, which is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that advertises itself as a “suite.” Even worse, they completely misrepresented the sleeping arrangements — they advertised sofas as actual beds, and we ended up having to sleep on uncomfortable sofas instead of proper beds.
There were no comforters provided, no drinking water available in the room, and we had to explicitly ask for these basic necessities. The entire place felt hastily thrown together in a “Frankenstein” way, with odd combinations of furniture and design that made the space feel cramped and far smaller than advertised.
Overall, we felt misled and very uncomfortable during our stay. I would not recommend Selvese Suites to anyone looking for a comfortable or honest accommodation experience in Istanbul.
Also, they bring breakfast in your room with limited items, another false advertisement.
Location staff and attention
We couldn’t stay due to a cat allergy and the hotel refused to make any efforts to refund any part of a 9 day reservation that was not used
Great location very clean friendly staff and very helpfull
We stayed at Selvese Hotel and unfortunately had a major issue with the bathroom. There was a noticeable gap between the shower and the floor, which caused water to flood out every time someone used it. With four of us sharing one bathroom, it became completely unusable for the rest of the day after just one shower — a serious inconvenience.
We raised the issue with management hoping for a solution, but were only offered a mop, which didn’t solve the underlying problem. It was disappointing that nothing more was done to address the situation during our stay.
Aside from that, the hotel itself was fine. The location was convenient and within walking distance to most tourist spots, which we appreciated. But unfortunately, the bathroom issue really affected the quality of our experience.
I really enjoyed staying at this property. Before I even arrived the staff responded promptly to all my inquiries. Their communication with guests has been the best I have experienced in all my years of staying at hotels. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. The room was clean, comfortable and we (my family) had our own spaces. We stayed in a 2 bedroom type apartment. I would stay here again.
Hotellet ligger super centralt ift. restauranter, butikker og natteliv, samt i gå afstand til andre områder. Der er et lille køkken og bad med alt hvad man behøver.
