Fantastic, 10/10, would stay again!
Pros:

Everything about this hotel was great - great staff, location, room, amenities and there’s even a vending machine in the hotel!

Cons:

The only thing I noticed was that in 2 places in our room, it was dusty. This was in the toilet where the toilet paper sits and on the shelf on top of the fridge. However, this is a small thing and did not negatively affect our stay. We would definitely stay again!

Quiet, lovely hotel with views and decent size rooms (for Tokyo)
Pros:

I have stayed in many hotels in Tokyo, and this is one I would definitely return to. The train station is 2 mins away (across the street), and the subway is a 10-minute very pleasant walk. You have a view of the river on one side, and the Rokugikan (Sumo Wrestling Arena) on the other. For a first-timer, it may be better to stay at a hotel on a more 'touristy' train stop - as this hotel will require station transfers to get to where you're going (for everywhere except Akihabara).
I stayed in a double non-smoking by myself, on the Rokugikan side for two short stays (NOT the river side), and it was amazing to watch the sumo wrestlers doing laps around the arena early in the morning. Skip the breakfast - it's very mediocre unless you need that time to look out at the river and gather yourself together. Staff are amazing, they held my luggage for free twice (I was traveling around Japan), booked a taxi to Haneda for my return flight to the US, no problems.
Let me also tell you that there is a NESPRESSO machine in every room, and they give you four capsules daily. Since it's still hard to find espresso (not coffee) in Tokyo unless you go to a Starbucks (no thank you) or seek out a fancy café, I very much appreciated the ability to make my own espresso daily.
I was initially hesitant abou the location, but won over. Also, the newly reopened (April 2026) Tokyo Edo Museum is right outside your door, and well worth a visit, which is what I did to kill time because my return flight was very late in the evening.

Cons:

The breakfast buffet is a bit lackluster - not many items, and I don't think they had in-room dining service, but this is Tokyo, you can get delicious food day or night anywhere. Just a caution if you expect a hotel with room service.

My wife and I had a great time in Tokyo staying at the Gate Hotel Ryogoku.
Pros:

It was in a good location, in a quieter area but very close to the station to get around. The room was large too.

Cons:

We didn’t find anything we did not like about the property

Let down by the major road on the riverside. Will not book again.
Pros:

Very clean

Cons:

We had a room with a river view, but there is a major road between you and the river; you either have a traffic jam or the noise of vehicles passing over a joint so bump bump! We asked to be moved from level 3 level with the road and moved to level 8 the noise was a little better. It’s not city noise but heavy road traffic.
