Wonderful stay during hard times
Pros:

We visited the Grand Mercure during a very special time and we were very happy we could stay here and feel safe. The rooms were very cozy and big which helped us a lot mentally. The roomservice was working very well and was really delicious. The cleaning staff was supportive and created a clean atmosphere. The front office staff helped us with our bookings of the flights and I would especially like to thank Dashi for all of her support.

It was a good hotel for a short stay en route to London.
Pros:

The location was good for the airport. The room was large and clean. Breakfast was adequate, we didn't have dinner at the hotel as it was Ramadan and there was a limited service. The rooftop pool was quiet and relaxing, just right for a day in the sun. The shuttles to the Mall of the Emirates only run on weekends, the shuttles to Festival Mall run every evening at 5.20pm. The airport shuttle was useful and prompt. Mohammad at reception was very helpful when we arrived early after a long flight from N.Z.

Cons:

The room didn't have an enclosed shower, it was a 'wet room' with a stand alone shower fitment and bath. The service at the coffee bar could be sketchy at times, especially later in the evening when there was nobody in attendance.

The check-in process was very welcoming and smooth. The room was upgraded, clean and spacious.

Cons:

There are not enough electric outlets in the living room or the bedroom. I ended up having to charge my laptop at the kitchen counter. The toilet was flushing periodically for some reason, but the noise was not too loud so I left it alone. 1 of the lights in the bedroom could not turn completely off and was flickering when I needed to go to sleep no matter which switch I tried. I called the reception 4 times in a span of 2 hours and every time they said a technician will come to check but no one came. Eventually, they told me the building was experiencing a power outage and the staff was busy. I could give them the benefit of the doubt, but they could have informed me the first time and save me some trouble.
