While "amazing" is an overused term these days, we were truly amazed at how nice this hotel is. We arrived on a very hot and muggy day in September after a long trip to Kyoto, and were blown away by the reception from the staff, the luxury of the lobby, the spaciousness of our room, and just the overall ambiance of this property. The included breakfast was delicious and a nice way to start each day. We visited other parts of Japan and stayed at other nice hotels on our trip, but the Garrya was the highlight for sure.
A great hotel. It is modern, comfortable, clean, quiet, and in a great location. The service is among the best we have had anywhere, better than hotels that cost twice as much. Every member of the staff that we encountered was amazing. The restaurant and restaurant staff is also terrific.

The location was great, the service impeccable, and the room was by far the best place we stayed the entire trip to Japan. I would definitely recommend this place and their traditional Japanese breakfast was DELICIOUS!!!

This was the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. I almost did not want to leave for the days I stayed here. I did spend one long night here just to enjoy it and recover from all the walking around Kyoto I was doing. The breakfast that was included was some of the best I have ever had. I highly recommend!
An amazing hotel with a fantastic restaurant. The staff was also fantastic. However, it would have been nice to have some more basic dining choices as every meal looked like a photo from a magazine. The food was great but sometimes a guy just wants a simple omelet for breakfast without the other 8 options that come with it. Maybe that's just me. Yes I'd recommend this place. However the location is a bit out of the way.

Amazing everything was perfect
Excellent boutique hotel, hotel staff are all outstanding. Breakfast was included and very well done every day. Front desk were always prepared to assist with any request. Would definitely stay there again when back in Kyoto.

This hotel was an absolute treat. The staff were as friendly and accommodating as you will find anywhere in the world and the on site restaurant was world class. The garden view and central location were also major drawcards.
Quaint hotel, exception service. Outstanding rooms. Great breakfast. A gem in a busy city. 28 rooms, but worth the price, great experience, wasn't there much but loved coming back to the hotel. Very representative of the Japanese culture.
Amazing hotel - a tranquil oasis in busy Kyoto. Location is brilliant, one minute walk to subway which gets you everywhere you need to go. Right across from the road from Nijo Castle where the Shogun era began and eventually ended, incredible history and stunning gardens. The decor of the hotel is immaculate, the staff are outstanding and nothing was too much trouble - highly recommend.
Such a charming, peaceful and beauitful boutique hotel with exceptional customer service. The breakfast each morning was delicious and the rooms were very comfortable. We will hopefully stay here again if we are lucky enough to return to Kyoto!
Great place
The Garrya Nijo Castle is an impeccable hotel with a top-notch staff. The hotel is hidden away in a quiet neighborhood, just a short taxi or subway ride from the highly-trafficked tourist areas. In fact, you wouldn't know it was there if you weren't looking for it. With just 24 rooms, each guest is treated with the utmost attention and care. The check-in process was perhaps the most thorough and welcoming I have ever experienced at a hotel. The rooms are generous in size—even by Western standards, spotlessly clean, and full of quality amenities. Unlike Tokyo's convoluted subway system, Kyoto's is easy to navigate and a stop is conveniently located just a few strides from the hotel. All in all, I highly recommend this property and couldn't be more pleased with the experience.
