I liked the location of the accommodation; it is in a quiet, well lit side street I felt safe to walk even at night, also due to the many small businesses still open until after 10pm. The place is located in the middle of the island, as such one can go north and south easily even by public transport. When one walks out to the main road, the bus stop is right there. No. 17 and 19 are the free-of-charge buses to the north and south part of the island. The King Kong Supermarket is one or two bus stops' away. The closest beach is at the other side of the main street walking down to it on a side street. The main street itself is very active, with lot of shops, etc. there on a very long stretch.
I liked that the accommodation had a kitchen.
I liked the floor plan of the place with the kitchen, dining area and bathroom downstairs and the bedroom upstairs on the mezzanine. Albeit the stairs are indeed very steep so the place is only for people with strong legs.
I didn't mind that the place didn't have a couch for watching TV or that the TV wasn't in the bedroom, unlike a previous reviewer, because I don't watch TV. I was happy with the large dining table and chairs.
The management was too casual: although I arrived around 7-8pm (and they knew that I would come only in the evening because they had asked and I replied), they didn't give me a clean accommodation: the bottom of the toilet had the poo in it from the last person, the bedlinen was not changed, etc. etc. So even though I was tired due to flying from Saigon, I had to wait for a young man called in by the manager to clean the toilet and change the bedlinen. The music played was also loud so I asked the manager that they use ear phones. Everyone's taste of music is different and honestly I would have gone mad there. But luckily enough he let the music stop.
The next day a woman announced that she was the cleaner and whether I wanted my room to be cleaned. I declined and said that I would clean it myself. (I am a seasoned traveller, had plenty of time on the island and having experienced the general state of my apartment I opted for taking things into my own hands.) I went to the King Kong Mart, bought the necessary cleaning stuff and cleaned it myself. OMG, the vynil (PVC) floor downstairs and upstairs was so dirty. But it was easy to broom and mop.
The kitchen drawers didn't close. Those need repair.
The lock to my room didn't work so I took my money everywhere. Luckily enough the island is a safe place.
I had a very pleasant stay. The apartment is minimalist, just like in the photos. The kitchen is well-equipped, allowing me to prepare all my meals, fast and stable internet Wi-Fi for remote work and comfortable bed. There's a spacious outdoor patio with a nice view of nature. It's also possible to walk to the beach, and having a scooter makes everything even easier. They offer free apartment cleaning once a week and the host was super helpful, even assisting me in buying a large jug of potable water, which was quite economical. Although most neighbors didn’t speak English, they were always friendly and welcoming. I felt at home and would definitely stay here again.
We liked the cats, and gekos outside. The hosts were very helpful too. Th wifi was pretty solid for working, there was also a washing machine and drying machine (next to the aparment). The owners helped us with scooter rental.
The bungalows were quite dirty when we arrived, with a lot of dust, and odd smell upstairs in one of the bungalows (we booked 2 in total). In both bungalows there were rests of the food found in the sink. And in one of the apartments we had issues with water (water was dripping all the time in the sink). On top of that one of the bungalows got flooded at night as one of the water pipes broke randomly in the bathroom so we had to wake up in the middle of the night, stop the water supply and get rid of the water that filled the 1st floor of the apartment. The owners apologized and fixed the issues the next day.
