Location
Room was clean & beautiful, but it smelled of mildew. Shower was huge & pretty, but the glass wasn’t long enough to keep water from spraying out.
Stunning, high-end hotel in Iowa City, finally! My college roommate and I came back for homecoming 20+ years after graduating and stayed at the Chauncey. We were in room 804, which is on the highest floor in the middle of the building and has an amazing view of the city and the Old Capitol Building. The room was very spacious - two queen beds, a full kitchen, huge bathroom and shower, and an amazing balcony where we spent a lot of time gazing out at all the college kids and the sunsets! It's absolutely worth it to get a room with a balcony! The staff was extremely kind to me and my 2 dogs who came with us. Loved that the fridge has it's own ice maker. The building also has concrete walls and floors so you don't hear anything or anyone. And there is a trendy coffee shop on floor 2 with plenty of seating for lounging, working, etc. Will definitely be back!
Because it was homecoming, the rates were majorly hiked for the area. We paid over $600 per night for 3 nights. Only other complaint is that there was no full-length mirror in the room and the AC unit is a bit loud when it turns on. Small things - STAY HERE - you won't be disappointed.
Proximity to events
Bathroom was a little dirty and the vent didn’t work. A little over priced due to the game.
Location, restaurant and movie theater in location, this was nice.

Beautiful view

Very clean
Unfortunately, we arrived at the hotel around 4:15 PM and there was no room available yet, but we were able to get a room at 5 o’clock, which was one hour later than the time our reservation indicated rooms would be available. Seems that housekeeping staff is slow down or insufficient in number.
When we booked this back in May I had asked for an early check in and contacted the property many times to ensure this. Out of the entire hotel they could not find one queen room for me until 2:45 when check in was at 3:00. Very disappointed I have stayed here many times and would hope with the ask months ago we could have checked in early since we had been driving since 4:00 AM. The front desk lady Vicky I believe was rude and not helpful AT ALL. Then after we checked in we had to listen to a dog barking for hours......
Super petit déjeuné, super vue, super lit et super confortable, rien à redire
Pas de machine à laver
