horrible experience with cold water and bad desk service.
Beautiful location overlooking the 4th lake.
Staff were very polite and helpful, shout out to Thomas upstairs and Rebecca at the restaurant.
It’s an old building that needs some love but everything else made up for it.
The property is in need of general maintenance. It needs a new coat of paint inside and out. The dust and spiderwebs have accumulated between the plumbing and the ceiling. The spindles on the stairs dangle from the railing . This old house has settled so much, that there was a 2in slope from ons side of the room to the other.
The only issue is that the dining room was badly under staffed we never got the cocktails we ordered and we finally went to Screaming Eagle for cocktails and a pizza
Great place to stay, nice people. great location, but our room was never cleaned. trash never emptied even after asking. they said they would but never did (4 days)
never changed towels either. it was like we were not there. conventional breakfast was later and later every day. the last day of our stay they were just setting it out at 9:30. for the price we paid I would have expected more
Place was lovely, old, atmospheric, basic, everything was wood, the lakeside setting and loons in chorus were all good. No A/C, no TV, no problem for me!
We booked at the Woods Inn for a small outside wedding and reception. We couldn't have asked for more. Stacy and her staff did an excellent job coordinating and arranging everything. The service was outstanding and the staff was efficient and friendly. The food and drinks were to die for, and the prices were affordable and fair
We would HIGHLY recommend The Woods Inn for any event, small or large. We are so very, very happy we chose them for our special day.
Its a beautiful 19th century hotel. It's quaint & mountain rustic. I would stay here again
the shower door would not close, and the jacuzzi did not work!! highlight of booking the room. over all a cute place with minor issues..
We have visited the Woods Inn three times over the past 8 years. Our first visit, in early October 2018, was fabulous. We loved the ambiance, the place was spotless and well cared for, and the Overlook restaurant was a gourmet feast. They also served a nice breakfast daily (if memory serves, it was a buffet, but with real food).
Our second trip was a bit later in October 2022 and we learned that they were under new ownership. The Overlook restaurant was closed for the season, though we were not informed of that when we made reservations and they no longer served breakfast. It was a challenge to find a nice restaurant in the area on short notice and it was impossible to find a gluten free breakfast anywhere closer than Old Forge.
Since the owners were new, we decided to give it one more try, during the summer season. We just went mid-week, the last full week of August 2025 and we're never going back. The place is clearly falling into disrepair in a variety of ways small and large. While their Overlook restaurant was nominally open (though not mid-week on either of the 2 nights we were there. However, we wouldn't have chosen to eat there anyway: the current menu resembles a tavern menu (sandwiches, fried things, etc.; I suspect it's the same menu for their tavern, just served in a slightly fancier room with views). They now have a "continental breakfast" consisting only of prepacked muffins and bagels (inedible for those who can't eat gluten). It's still hard to find breakfast (especially not gluten free) without driving to Old Forge. [While we did find one place in Inlet that served wonderful breakfast paninis, including GF ones, unfortunately they're closing after Labor Day and trying to sell the business.]
Considering what it costs to stay for a night and how it has gone downhill, we won't be returning.
We have stayed at the Inn many times. It has gone down hill. The porches are filthy, unstable and falling apart. The room was dirty and just overall unkept. It is a beautiful old building but definitely needs some TLC. I hope the owners are able to get some much needed work done to the structure and some improved housekeeping. We also missed the fine dining. Menu was just not the same.
Great location !
The bar tender/waitress was excellent!! Enjoyable to talk to!!
The bed was very comfortable. The bar was great and food also really good. So convenient. The staff was so great, down to earth. The best part though was just sitting outside on the water especially for sunset....incredible. So relaxing. It was also great that the paddle board rentals were right next door as well.
Loved this place
Beautiful old inn that has an ideal location on the waterfront. The place was clean and tidy but definitely is a bit tired . The outside could use a good power washing and better maintenance. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Room was pleasant but bed uncomfortable.
The staff was very helpful, but the overall condition of the hotel and dining room needs some serious updating.
Very hot in our room.
The location within Inlet is fantastic - walking distance to everything (i.e., coffee house and bakery). Also, its situation on the lake is lovely for evening drinks or just seating on the shore.
The cleanliness of the rooms wasn't ideal - floor was dirty, a couple of dead cockroaches, and the 2nd day we had no hot water.
Service wise, the people were lovely. A few issues with the keys (which were new), but ultimately worked out and again with a smile. Dinner on the first night was tough as only one server and a full house, so we opted out as were told 30+ minutes for dinner service. So not that the staff there weren't nice - they were! Just not enough for the occupancy.
Hence a mixed review - positives and negatives. Price would lean it towards the negative.
This cozy little gem is a wonderful place!
