It was nice, the drinks were very pleasant, I liked the Boilermaker option on the happy hour

What a wonderful experience. We loved the vibe of the hotel. Jazzy, calm, and relaxing. Very much not like the typical hotel chains.

KEX is a very clean, no frills hotel/hostel in Portland with a fantastic lobby and bar. The food was inventive, fresh and tasty. Good cocktails, and even better service....just enough attention to get what I wanted and plenty of space to just enjoy the scene.

I tried to store my valuables in my assigned security drawer, but it was blocked by another set of bunks. I didn't even deal with this nonsense in the military, which should say something to these people. Get it together, kids.

The staff were very inconsistent with my stay. I had a one bedroom and in a day was moved to a bunk room of four for no reason. So I went from 314 to 313 and had to pay fee after fee. Even though I was still the same resident from Tues through friday. They are not consistent, made me move rooms and made it apparent I’d have to leave my luggage with them before checkin. This had not occurred since I stayed at the hotel.

I got there and had to pay an incidentals fee that was higher than I was told it would be when I booked, then the blue haired gentlemen that was at the front desk said “you won’t find any place without a deposit”, I said yes but I’m rooming with 16 other people. He seemed bothered during our whole interaction. Then in the middle of the night I was woken up to a flash light in my face saying that I was in the wrong bunk. Okay, so you wake me up to say that and that’s it. There were empty bunks everywhere, I found this interaction to be so rude. I must have read the bunk card wrong, the blue hair gentleman told me that I couldn’t get a bottom bunk and the room would be full, so I got a top bunk only to be woken up to be told I made a mistake.

The staff was extremely rude and pretentious, not helpful and I would never go back.

I liked the staff. I wish it was consistent with my extending of my stay. It was different at the end from the beginning.

Rooms were fine but bathrooms down the hall was more uncomfortable than expected. The doors were very heavy and locked behind you. Bathrooms were single stall and only 3 for an entire floor. No place to put toiletries. No robes. If you forgot your towel you were out of luck. Not super comfortable.

We loved KEX Portland! Such a unique spot with beautiful retro decor. The front desk guy Jermaine was awesome, so friendly and helpful. Walkable to restaurants and breweries. Would def stay again!

I love staying here, it's affordable and the beds are comfy. I omly wish the bathroom had a fan (to vent out steam and smells), and some of the bunks didn't have their storage drawer blocked off.

This was my second stay at KEX, why look further? It's entire vibe is chill and inviting. Love meeting friends for dinner/drinks downstairs. Every room type to suit a variety of stays/price points. I look forward to my next stay.

Arrived today, excited for my reservation today and was told that I was banned from their hotel because I was smoking cigarettes in the room the last time I stayed there (few nights ago) They said they had documentation of the evidence and there was ashes in the bed, cigs in the toilet, and evidence in other spots.

I would have totally understood the ban, except I DO NOT SMOKE CIGARETTES. I don’t know what kind of of tom foolery you have going on, but this ruined a big part of my 40th birthday celebration.

I will be getting my attorney on this and make things right. I can’t believe this happened. Maybe one of your employees smoked during their break or something, but as I stated before, I DO NOT SMOKE.
They also didn’t call or email me, so I show up to this.

You made a mistake and will have reprocussions. Ooooh boy you’re going to be paying. I will happily take every dollar you have and find much joy in it.
