Wonderful Two day Get-A-Way
Pros:

I highly recommend Albergo Generale Cantore in Monte Amiata. Very quaint and comfortable, and the food was outstanding along with the service. I really enjoyed "Day Camping" in our hammocks in the forest, which was quite cool and very relaxing. Can't wait to return, especially in the winter for skiing.

A breath of fresh Mountain air in Monte Amiata
Pros:

Hotel location is beside a beautiful Beech Forest at 1500 metres Typical mountain lodge
Room was very comfortable with all amenities except air conditioning which is not necessary
Food was quite good the local red wine excellent
We spent 2 nights here and really enjoyed our time Wonderful for those who don't like hot beaches

cycling in the Maremma
Pros:

When I was planning our cycling trip, I decided that a small diversion from the Gran Tour della Maremma to stay here might be worthwhile (I was tempted by the descriptions of home made pasta, porcini etc). So we slogged up the 1,000m ascent from Arcidosso and arrived at the hotel at about 18:30 a little chilled from the final 150m descent.

We could hardly have been made more welcome. After a small recuperative beer we were able to put the bikes safely indoors and went to our rooms which were very comfortable.

The evening meal exceeded our expectations (two sorts of home made pasta) and we were unable to manage all that was offered. (One of the party was unwell after the day's exertions and they brought him tea and cake.)

Next day's breakfast was a good start for our next leg and we were sent of with a complimentary espresso.

The half board deal was a bargain
