Terrible decision.
Pros:

Roaches and a nasty mildew smell… no linen change/house keeping or extra toilet paper given when asked.

Cons:

Upon arrival (over a 350 mile drive) the office was closed (during office hours)and had to contact customer service for booking after multiple failed phone calls to the property 5 hours after someone finally showed up to assist.

InTown Suites Marketing Plan: Roaches, Broken Things and Rude Service
Pros:

What I responded to their request for comment with.

It had been 17 years since I stayed at an Intown Suites and I should’ve known better.

The room has cockroaches. I have had to buy Fantastic to spray on them to kill them without tracking their eggs back home. I have had to buy Febreze because, despite the property being non-smoking, the room has clearly been smoked in.

Nowhere when you book does it say that this property office is closed from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on a daily basis. When I arrived to check in at 2 p.m. I was told that “the office is closed and I can’t check you in until 3:30 p.m.” by an African-American woman.

She was fairly brusque about it and, initially, I chalked it up to maybe just having a bad day. When the time came to check-in I asked her if they would have an upgraded room available and the cost. She checked and said that while the person in front of me had just gotten the last one they had starting that day they had one coming available the next day and that she would work to get that set that evening and reach out. If I did not hear from her she said to come back at 3:30 p.m. the next day to get it switched.

This was not left to doubt. This was presented as “we have this, we will get this taken care of”. I am in town in part to work. I rearranged my day to be in the area of the hotel at that time, costing me money.

Upon coming back at that time the following day, I was told that ”Oh the person extended their room and I never told you that we would have one.”

This is clearly not how it was presented, otherwise I would not have made plans accordingly. I don’t appreciate being lied to, especially when the other reason for my stay in Charleston is to go to the places that I and my late wife did when we lived here 15 years ago. I was coming from her Celebration of Life in Myrtle Beach and keeping a promise I made.

Also when I came back that day, I mentioned to them that I had seen a roach in my room. I mentioned this after they told me they would not have the room for me that they told me they would. I was going to let it go because I was going to be in an upgraded room.

I was told by them, “Well, the exterminator was just here today. If you had let us know, we could’ve done something about it.” I asked them if they were going to expedite taking care of it and they said it won’t be done during your stay.

With the amount of cockroaches I have seen in the room, no food has been brought in, I have kept as little as possible in the room and nothing unsealed because of this. I bring everything else out with me to keep it away from the roaches.

This is not what you pay for at any hotel, no matter the price. In fact, with the number of roaches, it is a health issue that I’m sure Charleston County would be interested in hearing about, particularly seeing how progressive they are with things like the environment and safety.

Additionally, there is no cover to the light in the bathroom where you have exposed bulbs near water.

Given this egregious state of the property and the way I have been treated by particularly one staff member throughout the process I would like half of my room rate refunded.

I will be checking out before the property opens at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 12. I informed this individual of this and they said that I would be able to just leave the key in the room. That is what I will do as I am traveling and need to get an early start.

I need to make sure that this goes down as being checked out before the checkout time so that there are no charges for any extra day. I will call the front desk number to try to verify this, but I am fairly certain that I will not get hold of anyone. On the day that I was supposed to come back to get into the other room I tried to call three times. Not only didn’t they pick up, one time I let it ring itself out, more than 20 rings and then it disconnected.

The entire experience has been extremely poor and I look forward to your prompt response in handling this matter.

Bad
Pros:

Nothing

Cons:

Holes in walls and cigarettes burns everywhere. The pullout sofa was broken, asked several times for it to be replaced. Housekeeping doesn't knock before entering. No security due to the back door being propped open. The evaluator was down for 2 weeks. Roaches everywhere. The only good thing about this hotel was the 3rd shift clerk.

Bad never will happen again at any of intown Suites
Pros:

I was willing to work with management in getting my money back. So i decided to have my bank file a dispute. That room 112 had such an awful order.. Due to the fact it was not moped sanitized and the bath tub needed to be clean, yes. I took some pictures for you to review. Management at the hotel decided to argue with me, which i confronted her, the fact is I was a customer not an employee. What a difference a day make. The manager was not herself. What's up and her intent to tell me to leave her ptoperty. I did and called.911 to investigate. Didn't serve breakfast at this location. Your motel manager allowed resident to smoke drugs in the rooms. I was told we dont do that here, lied to by manager. Well if you don't live on property, you don't know. You have a roach infested motel which Management observed. If you

Cons:

Lied to about the drugs. The unwanted visitors, roaches. Manager attitude. What ever was going on in her personal life, don't take it out on the customers

Pros:

If you run out of clean towels you have to pay for more and you have to pay for pots and pans. They had to bring us a new refrigerator because the one we had was broken. Emergency exit alarm kept going off. No maintenance on weekends. Wi-Fi sucked, tv stopped working at 3am. Staff wasn’t very helpful

Checked Out and Still In It!
Pros:

Nothing!

I was checked out without permission and my room rented to someone else. I came back from being gone one day and still had it booked through the weekend and someone else was in it.

It wasn't half bad
Pros:

The bed was comfortable and I enjoyed the living room area as well. Most of all I enjoyed the bathroom, it was very spacious and the mirror was very unique.

Cons:

I was experiencing a roach problem and it was also very noisy. Sometimes the room would get muggy but luckily the windows can open so that helped.

Pros:

I recommend you only stay in the front of the building. All other areas seemed loud and unsafe at night.
No weekly housekeeping as stated on the website and reservation forms. Stated the housekeeper was on medical leave and no arrangements were made for coverage.
Repeatedly asked, over 5 weeks, for the kitchen faucet to be fixed, but property managers made excuses every time. So that was unusable.
They have no consistent management on site - substitute managers passed the buck.
The on-site maintenance guys were the only people who showed much energy to help. But they had limited resources.
