Honestly, this hotel feels like it's trying very hard to be a five-star resort, but it falls well short. The interior and design may deserve the rating, but the service certainly does not.
The bartenders were unprofessional, management was dismissive, and the list of issues goes on. What disappointed me the most was how they seemed determined to avoid taking responsibility or responding constructively to feedback. Instead of listening to guests and trying to improve, every concern was met with excuses or indifference.
For me, a five-star hotel is defined by its service, not just its appearance. Unfortunately, the service here was, at best, three-star quality.
We recently stayed at Aubamar Palma Resort, and while there are some positives, the overall experience unfortunately didn’t live up to the expectations of a five-star resort.
Our first impression came at check-in. Three receptionists welcomed us and explained where our room was located (Tower, room 10607). Without us asking, they pointed out that we had booked the smallest room (18 m²) and that the other accommodation options were much larger. While this may have been factually correct, it felt like an unnecessary and unprofessional way to welcome guests who had just arrived.
During our stay, we had lunch at the hotel several times. Service consistently felt understaffed, with waiting times of 15–20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. The staff were clearly doing their best, but with only two servers looking after more than 50 guests, the responsibility lies with management rather than the employees. Several guests had to walk over to the waiters themselves just to get assistance.
The food was another disappointment. Dishes lacked seasoning, the pasta was bland and uninspiring, and one day the gyozas I ordered were still frozen in the middle. On multiple occasions, we also ordered items that were listed on the menu or cocktail list, only to be told they were unavailable.
Lunch for two regularly cost around €50, which in itself is perfectly reasonable if the quality matches the price. Unfortunately, it rarely did. Instead, we often left feeling that we hadn’t received value for money and, quite frankly, felt ripped off considering what was served.
We also used the fitness facilities in the Tower every single day, and they were far below what we would expect from a five-star hotel. The gym was clearly being used by many guests, yet it wasn’t kept clean, there were no disinfectant wipes or cleaning supplies available for guests to wipe down equipment, and I actually had to fetch paper towels from the public restrooms myself. In 2026, hygiene and well-maintained fitness facilities are not a luxury—they are a basic expectation, especially at a hotel that presents itself as a premium resort.
The breakfast buffet raised similar concerns. There was no hand sanitizer available anywhere before entering the buffet area. After everything the hospitality industry has learned over the past few years, this is difficult to understand and, in our opinion, below the standard expected of a five-star property.
The resort itself is located very close to the lively area where many German tourists go out at night. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, but it does influence the atmosphere. It never really felt like the boutique resort the hotel markets itself as. There were many families with children, while a DJ played by the pool every afternoon. It felt as though the hotel couldn’t quite decide what kind of experience it wanted to offer. There is plenty of potential, but the identity and execution don’t match the branding.
Finally, while we certainly met some friendly employees, many staff members appeared tired, disengaged, and lacking enthusiasm. Whether that’s due to workload or management is difficult to say, but it inevitably affects the guest experience.
We’ve stayed at many excellent hotels across different star categories, so our expectations are always based on the overall experience rather than the number of stars alone. Unfortunately, this stay simply didn’t feel like a genuine five-star experience. Aubamar has plenty of potential, but stronger management, better staffing, higher food quality, greater attention to hygiene, and a clearer identity would make a significant difference.
A 5-star hotel where staff tell my wife — an oncology patient — the water "isn't safe." Management's explanation: she was just trying to sell us water.
The upselling started the moment we stepped in: an upgrade to a larger room. What came after went much further.
At dinner, staff refused us tap water: "it's not safe and you shouldn't have drunk it." The same water they use for your coffee, your ice, your food. My wife's health is fragile — we were genuinely worried, and we complained in writing.
The Guest Experience Manager confirmed in writing that the water is perfectly potable and that staff gave "contradictory information."
In our meeting she went further — explaining, as if it were a justification, that the waitress said it because she wanted to sell us water. A €6 bottle, 500ml. Think about that: a fake health warning, told to a cancer patient, justified as a sales technique.
Two days earlier, the same waitress had seen my wife's medication bottle at dinner and removed every glass from our table, preventing her from using a glass for her medication — in front of the whole restaurant.
Under Spanish law (Article 18.3 of Law 7/2022), free non-bottled drinking water is mandatory in every bar and restaurant in Spain — this hotel's included. Ask for it. Watch what happens.
The compensation offered for all this? A salad or a snack. Or a bottle of wine. Then, mid-complaint-meeting, they tried to sell us a catamaran excursion.
We asked in writing for three things: an official communication to guests confirming that tap water is available on request at every facility — pool bar, rooftop bar, restaurants — so people can stop sneaking into the gym for a cup from the dispenser; a notice on their website; and fair compensation for what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday for my wife and me. They never replied.
We're pursuing the matter with the Balearic consumer authorities.
Tolles Frühstück, gute Lage, extrem freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal
Via Booking ist nicht ganz ersichtlich, welches Hotel man bekommt, da alle 3 Hotels in Aubamar umbenannt wurden.
Suites = Bali
Junior Suites = Bali Park
Junior Suites Deluxe = Aubamar
Wir konnten extrem einfach das Zimmer vor Ort umbuchen. Kleiner Aufpreis. Hat sich wirklich gelohnt.
Laura unserer Engel hat wie immer alles top organisiert. Danke
Unfortunately, this hotel is below any standard. The reservations department refused to allow a 2-year-old child to stay and informed us that the child would not be allowed in the room because "he wasn't included in the reservation," despite our willingness to pay extra for him. The hotel also refused to refund the stay and refused to allow a small child to stay. This is the first time this has happened to us. The reservations department is completely unwilling to resolve the issue, unwilling or unable to communicate by phone. I strongly advise against this place.
Alles

We felt welcome from the moment we made our reservation until the day we returned home. Although our booking was originally non-refundable and could not be modified, we were met with great flexibility, professional service, and the opportunity to upgrade our room at a very reasonable price without any change fees.
When we arrived late in the evening, a bottle of sparkling wine and food were waiting for us in our room, which made for a wonderful start to our stay. Throughout our holiday, it was easy to get assistance, both from the staff in person and via WhatsApp.
Our room, with its private terrace, hot tub, and beautiful views, made the stay even more special. The pool area was also fantastic, with comfortable sunbeds, plenty of fresh towels available, and always enough space for everyone.
We stayed on a half-board basis, and the food was one of the highlights of our holiday. The breakfast was always fresh, varied, and of excellent quality. Dinner was an exceptional experience. The à la carte menu was of impressively high quality, both in terms of taste and presentation. Every dish was beautifully presented and prepared with great attention to detail. Even after 18 days, we never felt the need to dine elsewhere.
Before arriving, we had read reviews mentioning noise from the surrounding party area and were a little concerned. However, we experienced no disturbance at all, whether in the hotel grounds, our room, or on our terrace.
To be completely honest, we did experience a few minor issues on some days with housekeeping and the replenishment of towels and amenities. We would also like to mention that the sofa bed, which is offered as a permanent sleeping solution in the room, was not particularly comfortable for extended use. This did affect our overall rating slightly. Nevertheless, these were minor issues compared to the otherwise outstanding standard of the hotel.
What truly makes this hotel special is its staff. A special thank you to Artemii and Eleonora for their fantastic assistance and follow-up, Rafik for always being attentive, welcoming, and helpful, Peter and Easy for the great drinks and enjoyable conversations at the bar, and Leidy for her contagious smile and positive attitude.
Thank you all for an amazing stay!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
