The historic nature of the structure was nice and the view was excellent. The staff was wonderful and friendly. While the area was busy with people, this was due to the dramatic position of the hotel with its views.
Perfect location, crazy view on murals and ocean.
Stairs to the room on the top floor are difficult. Breakfast was simple, but tasty.
Breakfast was great on day 1 Sunday but poor on Monday - room not ready wait for everything had to ask for plates cutlery etc
It’s very noisy at weekends - Friday and Saturday - local youngsters gather just below hotel playing music till 5.30 AM - but the location is perfect
Our room was gorgeous. Clean, and bright, spacious. From the moment we entered, I wanted to stay an extra night - and so that is what we did! Our room had a gorgeous balcony with an absolutely spectacular view of Valparaiso. We enjoyed sitting there and taking in both the sunrise and the sunset.
There is nothing I did not like. The location is perfect for getting out and walking around Valparaiso. Many great restaurants right in the vicinity. And then .. return to our balcony for the gorgeous view at sunset.
Great location, charming room, friendly and helpful staff, clean, good breakfast
The room is in needed of a minor renovation. Some paint was coming off the windows and certain fixtures in the bathroom have seen better days (towel hangers came off or were slightly broken). There was no house keeping during our two night stay.
Great location. Very pretty house and room.
Small balcony, with no chairs to sit on.
Top floor was 45 steps up steep stairs and many stairs outside hotel too.
Bar and restaurant closed on Sunday.
Hotel claim that they have parking while they don't have it. Moreover the hotel is in pedestrian zone so you can't even drive there let alone parking. They promised to arrange spot on parking of other hotel upfront and then just railroaded me so I had to go find the owner and arrange everything by myself. It took an hour to solve this problem. Hotel staff completely ignored my problems.
I am not really one to complain too much, as I am in general pretty laid back. But I have to say that I did not particularly enjoy my stay here, for a number of reasons.
I will try to give fair reviews for a number of components of our stay here:
The room - it was OK, pretty standard if not a bit small, with all of the general things you need. We opted for the jacuzzi bathtub, which was nice, but the window did face straight onto a rooftop bar, which made me question whether I was flashing everyone. The rest of the views from the room were great.
Parking: Located about 10 minutes walk uphill, which I think is pretty normal for these places where there is limited space in the crowded centers. Also charges around 15,000 CLP per day.
The location - very nice location, very central sort of halfway up the hill and in a pretty busy place that was easy to get anywhere. However, if you are looking for a place to be able to sleep then I definitely would not recommend. The music from surrounding bars/street dancers etc goes on pretty late, and by that I mean we were woken up regularly throughout the early hours of the morning until ~5am. Not joking, one day there was like a breakdancing session at 2am, and the next day there seemed to be some kind of Chilean freestyle rap battle outside our window from 4- 5am in the morning.
Breakfast - pretty standard as advertised. We got a bread roll each with a slice of ham and cheese, a bowl of some grapes and orange slices, optional scrambled eggs, a slice of lemon cake, a coffee and a glass of juice.
Price: pretty reasonable for the area. However, we were pretty disappointed that we were charged in chilean pesos, which resulted in an additional ~$60 tax charge, despite being a non-Chilean national (therefore exempt from this tax). Initially our Monzo cards were declined in dollars - we think because they put it incorrectly as a credit card rather than a debit card, despite advising it was debit.
