Magical stay combining immersion in nature with great design aesthetic and a sustainable approach to hospitality. We completely unplugged here, and I still dream of the shower overlooking the trees and ocean.
Walking distance to the ocean, stores, restaurants, and only a short cab or bus ride from Mazunte or Zipolite (if you want a bit more activity at night).
Truly every detail has been thought through here, including fantastic smelling organic bathroom products, beach towels and delicious breakfast.
There are quite a few stairs to climb and there's no AC, so you should consider this before your stay. We stayed in the suite on the upper floor, which got a good air breeze, but lower/smaller rooms might be hotter.
Mooie midden in de natuur en heerlijke regendouche
Muggen en geen airco
Everything was great! Check-in was very smooth, and Gabriela is an absolute doll. She was incredibly helpful, always available. She was also very accommodating and even arranged a scooter for us that we could pay her for directly, which made everything so easy.
The room was fantastic—incredible views, a very comfortable bed, and perfectly clean. We had breakfast included, which was a nice touch, and the location is unbeatable with the beach and restaurants just a 3-minute walk away.
Just a few notes for future guests: the access requires climbing a lot of stairs. It completely makes sense in order to get that amazing view at least from the upper rooms, but not gonna lie, it is quite a workout! Also, the bathroom could use a few tweaks; the shower didn't have a curtain, so the whole floor would get wet, and the lighting was a bit too dim to see clearly in the mirror.
As an FYI, there is no AC (though there is a fan), as the rooms have an open-air concept. Personally, I loved this! It really adds to the charm, and falling asleep listening to the waves and birds was wonderful. I would definitely come back!
Definitely the people were the best in the hotel! Super welcoming and kind.
I loved their approach to water savings, bespoke rooms, and additional experiences we were offered
The bedroom and bathroom was lovely, I liked that they provided bug spray, and bathroom products and beach towels. Gaby was very friendly and sweet when checking in. The breakfast was nice too!
Not having proper wall/door did feel a little insecure and you could hear the wind, ocean very loudly all night, as well as the very clear conversations and intimacies of people both in the neighbouring rooms and walking past the terrace as there was no separation between that and the stairwell other than some plants. The pool was also extremely dirty, not just a few flies floating on the surface - this would be expected in a jungle, but the water was thick with floating particles and generally really disappointing, as the ocean was quite big waves so I was looking forward to relaxing pool swims, but I went in once and immediately regretted it. Also the location was a little remote, perhaps fine if in a couple but solo it was rather isolating and not much going on in this town at all. Alan seemed to take offence that I didn’t feel comfortable to walk to the next town after dark on my own, when I simply asked for info about taxis, he dismissed my question repeatedly, insisting he could “guarantee it was safe to walk”. Which was irrelevant and not what I was asking, I didn’t mention safety or insult the area or anything, I was simply asking for information about transport and it was an incredibly frustrating exchange with an unnecessarily condescending and dismissive attitude from him. Made me uncomfortable, I checked out a day early and they did not ask me if I needed assistance with booking taxi to my next destination or anything, which is not the end of the world, I figured it out on my own, but that’s an element of consideration I would offer my guests.
The rooms were nice and cosy. I like the focus on the environment
The breakfast was nice and the staff were helpful and very serviceminded
The rooms were without any protection against sound
everything was so wonderful. Thank you Gabriela for being a lovely host :) We would love to come back.
Beautiful location, close to the beach, beautiful architecture and interiors, the shower is amazing
There was no way to make coffee in your own room, the breakfast was just ok
Alan and Gaby were great hosts. Monte Uzulu is perfect located in walking distance to the beach and restaurants.
This is a very unique place. Other than most of the new developments in San Agustinillo this place respects nature and its surroundings. It’s not invasive at all. I love the architecture and all the Mexican details about it.
