Definitely the people were the best in the hotel! Super welcoming and kind.
I loved their approach to water savings, bespoke rooms, and additional experiences we were offered
The bedroom and bathroom was lovely, I liked that they provided bug spray, and bathroom products and beach towels. Gaby was very friendly and sweet when checking in. The breakfast was nice too!
Not having proper wall/door did feel a little insecure and you could hear the wind, ocean very loudly all night, as well as the very clear conversations and intimacies of people both in the neighbouring rooms and walking past the terrace as there was no separation between that and the stairwell other than some plants. The pool was also extremely dirty, not just a few flies floating on the surface - this would be expected in a jungle, but the water was thick with floating particles and generally really disappointing, as the ocean was quite big waves so I was looking forward to relaxing pool swims, but I went in once and immediately regretted it. Also the location was a little remote, perhaps fine if in a couple but solo it was rather isolating and not much going on in this town at all. Alan seemed to take offence that I didn’t feel comfortable to walk to the next town after dark on my own, when I simply asked for info about taxis, he dismissed my question repeatedly, insisting he could “guarantee it was safe to walk”. Which was irrelevant and not what I was asking, I didn’t mention safety or insult the area or anything, I was simply asking for information about transport and it was an incredibly frustrating exchange with an unnecessarily condescending and dismissive attitude from him. Made me uncomfortable, I checked out a day early and they did not ask me if I needed assistance with booking taxi to my next destination or anything, which is not the end of the world, I figured it out on my own, but that’s an element of consideration I would offer my guests.
The rooms were nice and cosy. I like the focus on the environment
The breakfast was nice and the staff were helpful and very serviceminded
The rooms were without any protection against sound
everything was so wonderful. Thank you Gabriela for being a lovely host :) We would love to come back.
Beautiful location, close to the beach, beautiful architecture and interiors, the shower is amazing
There was no way to make coffee in your own room, the breakfast was just ok
Alan and Gaby were great hosts. Monte Uzulu is perfect located in walking distance to the beach and restaurants.
This is a very unique place. Other than most of the new developments in San Agustinillo this place respects nature and its surroundings. It’s not invasive at all. I love the architecture and all the Mexican details about it.
We visited Monte Uzulu in February. It is located in a middle of San Agustinillo town, close to the beach. The property is surrounded by trees and is quiet. The room is small and simple, but it is well-designed and is sufficient for two people. The balcony is a great feature, overlooking trees and ocean. We enjoyed the breakfast served in an outside dining area. They also provide organic hair and skin products as they are environmentally conscious. The owner, Alan was very helpful providing the information on places to visit, and arranging taxi service. We highly recommend Uzulu.
Nothing we didn’t like here. Some people so commented about the access from the street, but we had no issues.
El acceso a la propiedad es terrible, no tienen estacionamiento y te cobran por llevarte a estacionar a otro lado y no lo tienes claro hasta que ya no puedes hacer nada
Lovely rooms, with the option to sleep with the sound of the ocean still around. A bit up hill, away from the street life. Great team, nice welcoming team, all great if you want hang around in this little quiet hippie like town …we enjoyed it
Good to know that it is close to other hotels and the way you have to close your eyes for a lot of ugliness. But, being up there it is nice, a bit new age atmosphere, like the whole village breaths :-) all good
