If you want to be near Singasari temple, Safira Family residence is the way to go!
Pros:

One of the few places nearby Singasari Temple to stay... so one might be ready to settle on less than nice.. But Safira Family Residence was quite nice.
Since it was a bit more basic than maybe some westerners would be used to, even after I booked the owners messaged me explaining they didn't have AC, and the bathroom was shared.. and if we wanted to we could cancel, no problem. But, since none of this was a problem (while E Java IS rather hot and so AC might sound like a necessity, Singahasari is higher up, and therefore cooler, and the fan was more than adequate).
Also, although not just out of the city, but out of Singasari town, there were plenty of nearby restaurants and convenience stores, etc...
