A traditional hotel
Pros:

Breakfast was good and dinner was superb. Had a 'local' atmosphere and slightly old-fashioned layout a world away from premier inns.

Cons:

Nothing really

Friendly hotel in a quiet location
Pros:

The main public areas and food were good and the staff were very helpful and friendly

Cons:

The decor of our room was in need of improvement, for example paint coming off the door frame and the carpet looked grubby with a stain in one place. This was not what we expected of a 4 star hotel.

Stylish countryside retreat worth that bit extra without breaking the bank.
Pros:

Lovely traditional stylish country pub hotel. Room stylishly appointed to lift it above standard rooms. Very comfy bed, Loved the pillows and the dimmer switch on the lights. Lovely quiet location. Nice complimentary toiletries everything looked clean and in good order. Friendly host, good food. We will definitely stay again when in this area. great location for Penrith and exploring the northern Lakes.

Cons:

the room was compact compared to some we have stayed in, but you could easily get around the bed at all sides and it was pointed out there was a ground floor conservatory for guests to use should we wish for a sofa/large comfy chairs to sit.
