Masseria Calderisi

Had such a lovely experience staying at Masseria Calderisi. The staff was extremely helpful and the room was kept clean throughout the stay. We also enjoyed the cooking class and visiting Calderisi Mare (private beach).

We stayed 3 nights at this fabulous location and could have stayed for longer. The location is beautiful and the grounds are well manicured. The decor throughout was tasteful and fit the setting well. Staff are clearly well trained and friendly and we got great service throughout our stay. The Masseria is well located for day trips and is close to Savelletri which boasts some good fish restaurants. The food was delicious during our stay. Utilised the spa once for a massage which was very good. Thoroughly recommend this sophisticated hotel.

This property is exceptional. I can’t find a single flaw. The location amongst the ancient olive trees is magical.

I don't want to write this because writing this means acceptance that I am currently no longer there. Alas, Masseria Calderisi was simply put one of the best places I've ever stayed. The thoughtfulness and beauty in every detail on the property. The 'I can't really describe it in any meaningful way' deliciousness of every meal. The great and friendly staff whose warmth and service make it easy to feel as if you've lived there for months or years rather than days. The location is also perfect as a jumping off point for any and all Puglia adventures. Honestly, I can't recommend this place enough, although I might bite my tongue and keep the "secret" so that there is availability when we inevitably go back!

This excruciatingly beautiful property is absolutely worth an extended stay if you are planning a couples or family trip to Puglia. It’s in a peaceful setting away from the busy towns but close enough to explore and other area restaurants.

The pool is a perfect temperature and beautifully designed with plenty of lounge chairs, and a fantastic restaurant and bar. The beach club is private to the hotel and club members (hotel guests cannot reserve chairs; you will get chairs but they may be several rows back from the shore). The beach is clean and water is clear; waves would be fun for kids. The food at the hotel and beach club is fresh and delicious (fresh oriechiette!).

Service is excellent as well. You can communicate with the staff via WhatsApp and they respond immediately.

Rooms are beautifully designed but my only complaint is the bed is extremely firm. The bathroom and shower feel like a spa. Our room has a nice garden and living room.

I would absolutely return and bring my children next time (kids under 11 are not permitted in August).

Outstanding experience , spectacular food and service as well as the environment. Only 24 rooms, very calm and beatiful place. Close to the main beach clubs and restaurants. Its beach club is very good too.

This was our second summer at Masseria Calderisi and the hotel really is such a special place. The hotel is absolutely beautiful but our favourite thing is how incredibly peaceful, quiet and relaxed it is, even when at full capacity. The main restaurant is excellent, both at breakfast and dinner.

Unfortunately, the beach was not a similarly pleasant experience this year. The staff were not just unfriendly, but downright rude. If you tried to order/ask them for something they made you feel like you were disturbing them and being difficult. They have zero interest in serving guests on the beach and just sit with their phones. They consistently try to bring the wrong orders and bills to the wrong sunbeds and never seem to understand the number system. When I asked for a second towel to dry off after a swim I was told no because there were not enough towels and when they give out second towels they aren’t returned. When I said i didn’t want to lie in a wet, cold sunbed after swimming the member of staff responded ’that’s not my problem’. Aside from this being an exceptionally rude response to a completely normal request, I find it unacceptable for a 5 star hotel to not be able to offer guests towels on a beach. Further to the rude staff, lack of service and inability to meet simple requests such as an extra towel, the toilets are disgusting. There are never any paper towels, apart from on one day they were not cleaned/attended to during the entire day leaving them in awful condition. In the larger female toilet where there is a shower, there is black mould growing on the walls. Despite the beach club sharing the same name as the hotel, they could not be more different in quality, standard, cleanliness and enjoyment.

All in all, we would rate the hotel 5 stars, but the beach 2. The experiences on the beach mean that what had started to become a yearly trip to Masseria Calderisi will not continue. We will not be returning solely because of the beach club which is a shame as we absolutely love the hotel.

Our stay was beautiful in many ways—full of picturesque moments and lovely Puglian touches. While the setting and design were truly special, a few service elements left the experience feeling somewhat disjointed, especially given the price point and boutique nature of the property.
For instance, the bed was extremely firm, and we only learned at the end of our stay that it could have been softened. A small note in the room would’ve made a meaningful difference. This felt indicative of a more reactive rather than proactive approach to service.

Similarly, when we asked for restaurant recommendations, we were handed a lengthy list without any offer to help narrow it down or assist with reservations. At a place with such a personalized feel, even a simple follow-up—"Would you like help choosing or booking something?"—would have gone a long way.

The Beach Club lunch setup was another example. We were told no reservations were needed, but later learned that while chairs are first-come, lunch tables do require booking. If a guest is taking the 11 a.m. shuttle to the beach, it seems reasonable to proactively offer lunch reservations as part of the planning.

Lastly, on one night the main restaurant was closed for a street food event. While it was a fun concept, it was the only dining option on-site, and there was no alternative offered for guests who may have preferred a quieter or more traditional meal.

Of course, we understand and appreciate the intention behind a “quiet luxury” experience, but at this level, a bit more thoughtfulness and anticipation of guest needs would elevate the stay immensely. With such a limited number of rooms, the opportunity for truly personalized service is there—and we hope this feedback helps bring that potential to life.

We stayed at Masseria Calderisi for just one night during our travels through Puglia and completely fell in love. It’s the perfect place for a couple looking for a blend of modern comfort and local charm.

The design is beautifully contemporary, with warm touches of Puglian style throughout. We loved having aperitivo and dinner on the terrace, the food was fantastic, and the setting couldn’t be more relaxed. Their beach club has the same laid-back vibe, with great food and plenty of space to unwind.

The gym is small but has everything you need, and the pool is full-size, perfect for us for a real swim.

Even with just one night, this place left a lasting impression. We’ll definitely be back.

Very good Hotel, large rooms, great shower and bathroom, quiet pool and wonderfull restaurant. Since there are few rooms, you have the feeling of belonging there with no people screaming, walking around in frenetic way etc. Very nice beach club. I strong recommend as alternative from bigger places near by.

Beginning with the positives...

Beautiful buildings dating back to the 1600s that have been redone. Spacious rooms with large showers. There is a pool area overlooking the olive groves with a small restaurant to grab lunch and cocktails. Maria was lovely!

Breakfast takes place outside and there are many fresh items to choose from - pastries, fresh juices, raw honey, yogurt, etc. You can order eggs. The coffee was very good and very strong - much better than a typical americano.

It is important to note that this property is not lush, as pictures might suggest. The only green is near the pool and olive groves. The rest of the property is very arid and there is white dirt everywhere, which will cover everything you own. Not the hotel's fault - just a note.

The hotel does utilize WhatsApp and can help you book restaurant reservations, which was helpful. Valet parking is a nice convenience.

After staying at this hotel for $1,500 / night, I have notes.

- First, the hotel utilizes a water filtration system for their drinking water, so they are able to provide you with glass water bottles that they reuse (yay!), except they will charge you 5 euro for every single bottle. At the rate they charge, that is egregious.

- The AC unit in the room was not strong enough. July was HOT and it could not cool the room down.

- There is a beach club down the road that you can visit via shuttle. The club itself is quite large with odd sections of seating - there is always a DJ playing and the food is very okay. Food ends at 2:30pm every day, which was unreasonable. Asking for extra towels was an issue. The staff are not friendly.

Note: The day you check out, you can use the pool and beach club but you cannot have chairs on the beach unless you want to pay 65 euro (after already paying 1,500 / night). There are no private showers available. No late check out.

This hotel does not warrant 5 stars given the service level, the water bottle robbery and overall inflexibility.

Beautiful setting, food is fabulous but the staff is what makes this place special especially Mimmo!! He greeted us with a warm smile every day and made sure we were enjoying our stay. The beach club is also fun and has great people watching..

From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed—the reception team greeted us outside as we pulled into the masseria, a very special touch that set the tone for the rest of our stay.

Most of all, the service was impeccable. Your team made us feel genuinely cared for throughout our visit. Every interaction was warm, thoughtful, and professional.

A particular highlight was dinner at La Corte—an unforgettable culinary experience. The atmosphere, the flavors, and the service all came together to create a truly magical evening. The dining staff was especially friendly and informative, taking the time to explain the different types of fish from the Mediterranean, which made the meal even more meaningful and enjoyable.
