Had dinner at Mulberry Street Tavern recently. Not my first time, definitely not my last. Food was amazing. So was the drinks (had Sweater weather) So glad they brought back the scotch eggs, but with a twist! I sat at the bar, both Branka and Connor were delightful, but I must give a massive shout out to the cooks. Dante, Alex, and Jesus. Without their hard work, the food would not be as wonderful.

We stay at a lot of hotels and this one unfortunately fell very short on what we are used to at a 4 star hotel.

First of all, there is no valet or anyone to help with your luggage. I have never stayed at a 4 star hotel that doesn't offer either of these things. The parking garage they have you use is very close by, but still super inconvenient because there are very few places to park out front for unloading.

I really dislike when there is no coffee pot in the room. You had to go downstairs every morning and get it in the lobby. I just find this super inconvenient. Personal preference.

The rooms are small and you can hear everything through the walls. One evening a group of people (who we are pretty sure weren't even guests of the hotel, but there is no security or key required on the elevator, so anyone can get in), stood outside our room and were loudly talking and partying for over an hour. The room phone didn't work, so we couldn't even call the front desk.

The major "we will never stay here again" thing for us, was how unsafe we felt. The general area of the hotel has so many homeless people around it. We couldn't walk outside at any point in the day, without coming in contact with aggressive behavior and feeling very unsafe. There is a quick shop next door and crowds of rowdy people gather outside of it from morning to night.

We stay about 50 to 60 nights in hotels a year, and this was by far one of the worst 4 star experiences we have had, let alone the most unsafe we have felt. It's really a shame, because the hotel has potential, but with no security, valet, or what felt like regard of guests' safety, I could not recommend for anyone to stay here.

Andrea did a great job as our waitress at the Mulberry Street Tavern! She should run this place and they are lucky to have her. Put her in charge of training all your wait staff!

Excellent experience! We had a very late check in but Bri greeted us and made us feel very welcomed. Brooklyn and Nora in reception were very friendly and professional - enthusiastically told the story behind the hotel and showed us around. Restaurants and bar also top notch. Stayed for two nights.

Had snacks at the bar. Food and drinks were delicious. Loved our bartenders, Connor and Branka! Helped us ring in the holiday spirit while visiting Des Moines.

Nora genuinely made my day and more than lived up to expectations. I was tired of the same stale coffee shops around town and asked a friend for a recommendation. He said, “Try the coffee shop in the Autograph Hotel—it’s quiet and actually does coffee well.” Given that he’s the former owner of DSM Brew, I took it seriously.

Walked in, ordered a coffee and an amazing Danish, and honestly? Nora was the bright spot of my day. Great energy, great coffee, great pastry. I’ll be back.

This is our second time staying at the Surety. We love this boutique hotel and prefer it to the other Marriotts in town. Conner, the bartender is fantastic, great service and drinks! Highly recommend staying at the hotel and visiting the bar and restaurant!

Excellent food & Service!! And an exceptional bartender with Red hair Amanda!! Energetic! Constantly smiles! Her character really shines!! Beautiful inside and out!! Thank you! Drinks were perfectly made!!

Another stop on our unexpected snow storm trip… and- as much as we wanted to get home- the Surety was hard to leave!
The architectural details are terrific- marble, original wood, tile work that elevates the wide hallways, high ceilings and rooms. The interior staircase (when’s the last time you could use a hotel staircase without feeling a little creepy?!) is just gorgeous and a boon for our elevator-fearing bulldog.
Room was well appointed with excellent bedding, gorgeous wood floors and good view of the Courthouse.
Dinner at Mulberry Street was a fabulous surprise - beautifully prepared bison rib eye, roasted garlic and solid cocktails. Connor is great.
Only wish would be an in room coffee pot, but trip down the lovely staircase to the lobby was just fine.

Our hotel stay was magnificent. We were snowed in and enjoyed some Netflix and chill time as a couple. Connor at the bar was so great. We had a wonderful bacon cheeseburger and pear arugula salad for dinner. Very nice and relaxing stay.

This is our second time staying at this establishment. Love the Mulberry Bar. The drinks, food and staff are amazing. Last night Amanda and Branca were fantastic! The rooms are spacious , clean with a cool, retro vibe. Highly recommend.
