Our stay at NIPPONIA was magical. First, the place is delightful, the team is very nice and friendly, it feels like you’re being received by friends or family, whilst keeping your privacy completely. The meals were probably some of the 3 bests I’ve had in Japan after having lived here for two years. It was different and researched whilst still being wholehearted and delicious, my favorite type of cuisine. Everything is cooked with ingredients from the village/region, and it’s such a wonderful way to explore farm to table Japanese cuisine. It was a perfect stay in paradise for a weekend, and I couldn’t recommend it enough. The place is also amazingly pretty, the onsen is very nice, and gazing at the stars in front of a bonfire after having had amazing food and drinks is the best thing in the world ! Note that they do offer a free pick up from otsuki station so you don’t need a car to come.
The serenity of the place, the warm and friendly staff who make you feel like you are having the special experience that you are, the next level food and I mean next level - literally blew me away the quality of the cooking and ingredients made all the better by much of it being locally sourced, not to mention the sake journey they took me on! One of the most memorable experiences I have had in a long time, and one I will cherish forever, it’s really that good.
There is nothing not to like!
Beautiful hotel with historical character and modern comforts. The staff were exceptional--they offered us a free shuttle service to and from the train station, greeted us with tea and local sweets, and were very helpful, kind, and friendly throughout our stay. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and full of local fish, game, and vegetables. The room included free passes to the local onsen (a short walk away in town), and it was our favorite onsen that we went to while in Japan. We were also able to use the e-bikes from the hotel to explore more of town and went hiking from the nearby trailhead.
The chef at the hotel's restaurant gave us the best meals of our lives. The drive to the property and the surroundings are absolutely beautiful, and it's super easy to get around the village once you're there, whether by foot or by e-bikes provided by the hotel. The rooms are super clean and comfortable with incredible baths, and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly.
Nothing, everything was perfect.
Very charming 150 years old house restaured and turned into four guests rooms. Quite unique to be staying in a house so old yet restaured with so much perfection. The room is huge and beautiful, the attention to detail incredible even by Japanese standards.
Food, particularly at diner was really something, real fine dining with local products and very original recepies.
Small things: was a pitty that the local onsen closed at 6pm (and that we weren't told beforehand).
We could also do without the wake up music at 7am, especially if you book a 8:30 breakfast.
The food was absolutely amazing! The service and attention to detail was outstanding. We stayed for two nights, and were treated like royalty. Takuma, our server at dinner, was professional and warm. He did a great job explaining the different courses, and was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends!
A reading light in our room would have been nice. It was a little dark as we arrived in November.
Our stay at Nipponia Kosuge Village was nothing short of dreamy. I plan to come back to Japan specifically to stay at this residence again.
If you appreciate design, the architecture, landscape, and interiors are absolutely superior. It was incredibly peaceful to be in such a quiet town. We had the Garden View suite- absolutely worth every penny. For the price, the value of our experience was beyond.
What really made our experience magical was the attention to detail and warmth of the staff. They thought of every detail, almost to the point of knowing what we needed before we did. The quality of the food was INCREDIBLE. We got to try Fujinosuke- a cross between Rainbow Trout and King Salmon- the breakfast also blew us away. They also went the extra mile and asked if I wanted a special fruit plate since I was celebrating my birthday- definitely go for this if it is an option!
I could go on for a long time about every detail but I encourage anyone to book this if they are looking for an unforgettable experience.
Thank you to the staff, especially Saho-San, Takuma-San, and Kaoruko-San, and Chef Owa at Nipponia Kosuge Village!
No notes
Well maintained and run by friendly locals. Room was very spacious. Dinner was fine dining showcasing fresh local ingredients including the beverages. Breakfast was delicious too.
Due to the design of the room, the beds were on the loft and it was steep to climb.
