The room was a lovely Art-Deco inspired room. It was small, but had lovely aesthetics.
No refrigerator, and It was on the 6th floor, and the windows were opened with NO SCREENS ! I immediately locked the windows upon arrival. There was a COCKROACH in the bathroom on the wall. I photographed it. The real problem is this: I was told by the Hotel to park in front of the hotel, in-order to check in, and bring up my luggage. They had ONE PARKING SPACE white zoned that the OWNER of the Hotel and Deli was parked in, so I was forced to park behind the owner’s vehicle where HE had placed 2 Orange cones to block the white zone ! I had followed the Hotel’s directions, and I got as close to the cones as I could. I was still MORE THAN 18 inches away from the curb. All because of the very INCONSIDERATE OWNER OF THE BUILDING was taking up the ONE PARKING SPACE that I needed to check in, before moving my car to the parking structure. No free or included parking here. I got as close to the curb as I could, And I still, after only 15 minutes — (edited to add, - how exactly did the owner know that I parked there for “32 minutes" ? Did he have a stop watch ? If he was so attentive to the time frame, then why did he not help me, as I was one of his customers ?) It makes me wonder if he somehow benefits from people getting tickets, - or something like that. I GOT A BIG FAT PARKING TICKET ! HE BLOCKED THE CURB WITH CONES, in front of his own building, making it impossible for HIS Customers to check in. Is it even LEGAL for the Owner of the Hotel to block Geary Blvd’s White Zones, - with Traffic cones ? Now, I have to wait 90 days to see if SFMTA will side with me on this ticket issue. The owner saw ALL of this happening, and he did not lift a finger to help me! I would NEVER stay here again. So, be very careful if you book this hotel, if you do drive into the city. Also, I refuse to eat at his restaurant, - David’s Deli, for the same reason. Perhaps Mr. Touchstone Hotel should go back to business school, and take the class : Customer Service, - 101.
Excellent service from the staff. Comfortable room.
Staff.
Parking!
I think the rooms were very cozy and old school in a good way. I am from out of town and was worried this would be a dingy hotel, but I was pleasantly surprised. I really think we got our money's worth. Friendly staff as well.
I wonder if they will ever add mini-fridges. We wanted to save some food for later. One of my friends got the impression the staff may not always be on the same page about policies a little bit, but not the end of the world.
Location
For this price, this is not the best option.
I’m glad we only stayed here for one night. The curtains had yellow stains, and the walls were dirty. Overall, the hotel felt old and unclean, bad smell.
The soundproofing was very poor. Starting around 7 a.m., I couldn’t sleep because I could clearly hear footsteps from the room above.
When my friend checked in, her room had neither electricity nor running water. The staff did change her room, but it was still an unpleasant experience.
If you have a large vehicle, be aware that you’ll pay significantly more for parking. The parking price listed online was different from what we were charged. Because we had a 7-seater vehicle, we had to pay a higher parking fee, which was not clearly disclosed in advance.
Everything very clean, simple, old style, good bed. Great location, but noise from shouting on street at night penetrated up, echoing off buildings
Need cup to drink water or coffee. Need tea bags.
The room was cleaned everyday.
It is a very old building with very small rooms. The rooms are much smaller than shown on the pictures.
The room provides hardly any noise insulation, it is therefore very loud, although my room was not even facing the street.
Workers were pleasant and polite
The location could be dangerous during night hours
