Nice facilities, polite personel and very, VERY nice location.
Pool rules were inconsistent and even though a signed proclaimed that we could swim after 19.00 the personel insisted that we couldn't. Also what is with the rules not allowing for kids to have fun in the pool!? No diving, splashing og having fun. Anyways, we had fun anyways and the personel did not inforce it.
The morning buffet was so and so and no single piece of cheese was present. Okay, fine. Do as the locals, but funny enough there was some limited options that I didn't expect. Also goes to the coffee machine that was broken 3 out of 4 days.
Same goes for the café at the reception which boasted an impressive menu of coffees and smoothies put couldn't deliver on them all for several days in a row.
The rooms were nice but you could see that the cleaning personal was under pressure to finish as there were lint and dirt in the corners.
We stayed at the secret con dao for 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. The room was exceptionally clean, spacious, and well-equipped with everything we needed.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is very cozy and welcoming. The service was prompt, and our waiter was very attentive, making excellent recommendations. Prices are very reasonable for the high quality of food and service provided.
Highly recommend visiting if you are in the area. Make sure to book a table in advance!

The location was excellent, the pool area was spacious and relaxing. There were always available loungers, the music and general ambience created a peaceful environment. The staff were well polite and well-intentioned. The breakfast offering was broad and set us up well for the day, and the Sunset lounge was a great space with helpful staff.
Unfortunately we experienced a series of issues, starting with the non-arrival of our (paid for) shuttle bus at the airport. Throughout our stay the staff, whilst polite, we felt were under-trained. They often had to be prompted to replenish the breakfast bar, pool towels, room towels, in room coffee, and to serve us for our evening meal (which was also unable to supply us water with our meal).
Cleanliness could have been better with glasses not removed from our room for several days, and common areas, such as the sunset lounge, sometimes in need of a mop up.
Finally, although off the hotel grounds, our room overlooked a sports field which, every other night, featured a coach with a mega-phone and loud music for roughly two hours. This distracted from our ability to relax at the end of the day.
I stayed at The Secret Resort on Con Dao from April 10th to April 13th, and this was honestly one of the worst hotel experiences of my life.
It already went wrong from the very first moment. We were waiting in line to check in, and when it was finally our turn, I started speaking to the receptionist. Out of nowhere, a Vietnamese man cut in front of me and began talking to her. Instead of correcting him or asking him to wait, the receptionist completely ignored us and helped him instead. Even after I clearly pointed out that it was our turn, she continued speaking to him in Vietnamese as if we didn’t exist.
After finally checking in, we were told our room wasn’t ready. We decided to wait by the pool. One of my friends asked a staff member for an ashtray, and we were told smoking wasn’t allowed anywhere in the hotel. Fine. Then we tried to order drinks, and she told us we had to go to the bar ourselves. She walked away.
Moments later, a Vietnamese family sitting next to us spoke to the same staff member. Suddenly, she was smiling, laughing, bringing them drinks, giving them an ashtray, and even presenting them with a bill, right there at their seats. When we confronted her about the obvious double standard, she suddenly “didn’t speak English anymore” and walked away.
When our room was finally ready, things got even worse.
The room was absolutely disgusting. There was visible mold around the sink. The shower had yellow stains that looked like urine residue. There were stains all over the bathroom. And to top it off, there were cockroaches in the room.
We immediately went back to complain, but the hotel staff completely ignored us. No solution, no apology; nothing. This continued throughout our entire stay. Even the simplest requests, like asking for ice or an extra towel, were ignored as if we were invisible.
I don’t know if this treatment was because we are not Vietnamese, or because I am Black, but I have never felt so disrespected and unwelcome anywhere in my life. The difference in how we were treated compared to local guests was painfully obvious.
This was not just bad service, this felt like discrimination.
Avoid this place at all costs. What should have been a relaxing stay turned into a frustrating, humiliating experience. I would never come back here again.
Even Rosa Parks got a better treatment than what I’ve experienced at this hotel!
Secret Côn Đảo Resort enjoys a very good location and offers a beautiful, tranquil setting. The serenity of the resort is truly remarkable, and the staff are kind, professional, and attentive
The bed was very comfortable. The staff is doing their best to meet your expectations. The breakfast is wonderful with many options. The pool area is great, fresh towels all day to have in the pool. The cleaning of your room during the afternoon also it is an additional part that makes you feel comfy!
We had choose the Full Board option (Breakfast - Lunch & Dinner). They have set menus for 2 people and they are only 4 for lunch and 3 for dinner. Very bad organized as first of all you have to choose the same with the other person, the quantity is very small, not even the salads are in buffett and if you are staying for a week as we did we have the same dinner for 5 days in the row as the other 2 options were pasta. Do not expect buffet options for lunch and dinner. Also no free water available. The sunset bar has great drinks but the person who served us both times looks very ungry and disturbed with the clients. He was the only person who was like in a 'bad' mood.
