Pros:

We did not stay. The location was fake. It is not at the stated address by the Safari park but 2 miles away in an urban part of town, We literally just walked away and rebooked elsewhere, we could not bear to remain there and found a better hotel in a place that was actually by the safari park. These guys are fake, we walked out in less than half an hour disgusted by dishonesty and facilities. Do not stay here.

My favorite hotel in Nairobi
Pros:

I have been going to this hotel with groups of tourists since 2007 and it is my favorite hotel in Nairobi. Here I feel at home, it’s safe, clean, the food is delicious, the prices are consistently low, and most importantly, the staff is always very friendly and ready to help.

The Staff Attitude!!
Pros:

Checked in late around midnight, reception was closed and the lady had to be called. She arrived with an attitude like we were disturbing her peace. No information about the property and had to find everything by ourselves. Only the breakfast lady was friendly.

The location is really great but for 40$ we expected better, the rooms are literally rusted and toilet seats brown ( can be easily cleaned by clorox or any bleaching liquids). The corridors and public areas look much better than inside rooms. Maybe we were not given the usual attention and service because we are locals, but it wasn’t a free stay !!

Am concerned as a local about the picture the property portray to tourists and foreigners. Step up please. Thanks.

Pros:

It's a very handy place to stay in especially when I have to travel out to the airport at night. The staff are friendly and food is great. I love the branded soaps and lotions in the bathrooms. Mosquitoes are a wee too many but nets are available. It's not in a very quiet vicinity considering there's a bar on the ground floor.

Good value accommodation in Nairobi for those on a budget
Pros:

Rooms are clean, although basic. Location is good in terms of access to a nearby shopping mall, Wilson Airport and Nairobi National Park, but be aware you are only a few hundred yards from Kibera. Remarkable quiet location, very secure. Food is only average. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

Good value
Pros:

Don't be put off by the location - although it appears to be in the middle of a 'strange' area, this is a super place to stay if you are on a budget, but still want the luxury of a decent room, en-site facilities, food and WiFi. A short walk across Langata Road is a modern shopping complex, and Carnivores Restaurant is a short walk away.

Average but they can do better
Pros:

Been here several times for weekend one night visits.
Rooms are average good and clean.
Had an issue with the shower once and they fixed it immediately I reported.
Some rooms a bit small depending on your choice rather depending on your budget.
Breakfast is ok, can do better.
Management needs to improve on the professionalism of their establishment.
Wifi is ok, you need to get the password at the reception.
Security is good.
Left my cologne in the room one time and called them later in the day to inquire, to my surprise it had been found and was kept safely. This is a very positive thing indeed that you don't find in many establishments.
Overall, with a bit of professional approach, could be a better place.

Nice and pleasant place
Pros:

Was travelling on a budget and had a pleasant stay at Jupiter which is well located; close to the Carnivore, the Nairobi National Park, the airport, Giraffe Centre, Mamba village (crocodile farm)...to name but a few.
In a nutshell, so many places to visit nearby both for adults and children.

The rooms are very clean and neat! We always came back to a welcoming room.

Free Wi-fi; excellent connection especially at the restaurant and bar area. You may want to ask the management to book you in a room with the best connection though.

Great staff! Very friendly and helpful at all times. Talk to the manager, a nice and warm lady, who made sure that those little details were taken care of to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Good security and generator back up in the event of black-outs.

We stayed at Jupiter for 2 weeks !!! And, understandably, we'll definately check in again on our next visit to Nairobi!

Good place, Great location, Reasonably priced for business travel
Pros:

I stayed at Jupiter twice - once for one night on 15th March 2014 and second time for three nights from 21st - 24th March 2014. First time I reached very late in the night from India, however the chef was gracious to offer me a chicken sandwich with a drink for dinner. The hospitality was appreciated.

Since I did not select the hotel, I was not expecting a very small and cramped room. I was booked in a standard single room, but I guess that is norm there. So if you book a similar room, expect a bed occupying almost 75% of the room, a huge mosquito net, TV screen peering from behind the mosquito net and a small rack and table occupying 15% of the room and remaining 10% is required for the door to open. You may use this space to place your chair if you do not wish to sit on the bed. The room does not have a table where you can place your laptop to work. The bed is the only alternate.

The bathroom is nice. The overhead instant geysers for hot water are what I found as the de-facto standard in budget hotels in Kenya. The room was clean. Every hotel in Kenya will give you a slipper for using in the bathroom, which was new to me. But it was good.

The TV does not have too many channels and being a foreigner to the country, I could not relate to most of the channels except the sports channel.

The food in the restaurant was good and tasty. If you could request the chef you may be able to get the meal adjusted to your taste. But if you really like to get a feel of the local cuisine, the food is just right for it.

In case you are an Indian and prefer Indian food, there are a couple of very good places near this hotel. There are some shopping malls within walking distance of this hotel. There is the MP Shah hospital which offers excellent vegetarian Indian buffet lunch for a manageable price of 700 KSH and it is very close to the Jupiter hotel.

The breakfast spread is very limited and extremely standard - bread, butter eggs and cereal. One flavor or juice or tea and coffee. I am sure this could be better.

Also another suggestion is that you can get simple things like toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitary napkins and prepaid phone recharge coupons at the hotel. They will even give you a bill for it!!

Overall I think this a decent place for business travel and for short stays. Long stays could become boring since the hotel does not have open spaces or ground or even a lounge to spend time outside of your room.

Good Value
Pros:

Stayed one night in Feb 14 after flight from UK. Hotel arranged our transfer from airport very efficiently . We arrived at around 11 pm so did not eat but the friendly staff opened the bar so we could get a much needed beer, breakfast was OK. We were a group of 8 and between us had booked standard executive double and executive twin rooms. All were clean, showers worked and size wise were as described, the standard being small but great as a single room. The hotel is close to the airport and for a short stay was excellent value for Nairobi. We had a problem with our payment but this was identified by the management who were extremely helpful in trying to resolve the matter despite the difficulties created by Barclaycard.

One night was enough
Pros:

We had flown in from Kigali and were expecting same standards as Kigali's Golf Hills residence but we were disappointed. I was with my wife and 10 year old son. On arrival being tired we went to a crammed room with 2 beds, we asked for room service which arrived cold and unpleasant.
The showers were the dangerous electrical shower heads, that were working not working at all, the water was cold and it also reached a point when the water stopped altogether.
We went for breakfast at around 9 and found little variety to choose from.
This hotel is good for back packers and young travellers but not good for a family.

Good hotel, pocket-friendly
Pros:

I stayed in Jupiter Guest Resort for 2 nights earlier this month (Jan '14) and the front desk staff were nice, the food was good, and the bill is pocket friendly :). The only glitch in my stay was presence of lots of mosquitoes, in spite of mosquito nets provided round the bed.

The environment is clean, Wifi is fast, and the basics are there (running water, TV, towel, etc). As with most other hotels I've stayed in (both budget and luxury hotels), there's no music channel on the TV cable service :(.

I'd recommend it for short-stay travellers.

Good Clean Accomodations for Good Price
Pros:

My wife and I stayed at Jupiter Guest Resort in Langata in May 2012 and again in May 2013. We enjoyed our stay both times. The room was very clean and comfortable, with a desk for our internet use. The free Wi-Fi was a plus, and it worked well. Gertrude the manager was extremely helpful, even arranging to send our delayed baggage on to our next destination in Nairobi by hotel taxi. We also recommended this hotel to another visitor to Kenya who reported a good experience. Jupiter Guest Resort is the best value for a Nairobi hotel we have found. We change from our previous Nairobi hotel for several years because it became too expensive for our budget. We enjoyed Jupiter, which had a clientele of Kenyan and International guests. We highly recommend this hotel.

A little too expensive for its worth!
Pros:

I have stayed in this Guest house twice. The first time we paid a relatively normal price for Nairobi though of course it is just a basic Guest house compared to its price value. This year, when we stayed there, the prices were way much higher! We got a double deluxe room for three nights of which we were required to pay upon arrival, otherwise no rooms, no keys! Hotel policy. The staff were relatively helpful, though in my opinion it was because my friend was a bit demanding. Either way they did not advise us well. Upon paying upfront for the three nights, they offered us no advise regarding cancellation policies etc (Okay well, we assumed they were not aware or just did not bother to share such vital infos in case of such eventualities). In the end, we had to cancel our stay at the Guest house. Of course, they offered us no refund (Hotel policy again). In the end, we paid for an extra day which we did not use. Alternatively we were given an alternate of "transferring" the extra day to another visit within 4 weeks!! Super, we were both leaving the country so in the end, our money just went out of the window!....
The room was clean but we did not understand why the toilets had no toilet brush?? VERY ANNOYING.
Howrever, the breakfast was okay and the WiFi connection was great. The dining area is well lit and lovely. The pub at the corner side was also Ok. I think the location is good! Very near Langata rd and accessible to Giraffe centre, KWS Safari walk, Carnivore; a shopping center across the road and the local pubs: Rafikiz and Off road. I dont know if that qualifies it to be so damn pricey??

We stayed there four times on our Kenya trip
Pros:

It felt like going home each time we went back there - a total of eight nights. All of the staff were helpful and friendly - security, front desk and restaurant. The rooms are fairly basic, but better than we were offered in other places. The shower worked and the beds comfortable, with the wifi usually operational.

We really enjoyed the breakfasts - good eggs, bacon and sausages, toast and jam plus inessentials such as fruit. The evening meals were basic but good for us - meat of your choice plus spinach and your favourite starch - other things were on the menu, but not always in the kitchen. There is an outdoor bar, but I'm not sure how that qualifies the place as a resort.

We liked the location with a short walk to a local supermarket which has a craft market on Friday to Sunday in the car park. We felt completely safe safe walking the streets in daylight but didn't try at night. You can also walk to the Carnivore Restaurant or Wilson Airport. There are the very frequent Matatus on Langata Road taking you to other shopping areas, the city centre and the elephant orphanage [125/126].

This is a budget hotel in a nice suburban location and should be treated as such. We were able to stay there and eat there [breakfast and dinner] for US$80/day for two people. You can't say that for many places in Nairobi.

I will recommend it to my daughter who is planning a trip next year and any friends who are going there.

Look elsewhere
Pros:

Worst hotel experience ever. Upon arrival we walked up to our third floor room and unpacked ...only to find that the shower did not work even after the repairman spent 30 minutes working on it. Back downstairs to ask for another room. We were given another room on the third floor where the lock was broken and the room could easily be enter. (That shower had water but ran either very hot or very cold.) Back down to the desk. We asked about an upgrade because the room was so small, no table or chairs, and where told it could cost 6000 shillings to upgrade.
Our third room was on the second floor where we spent the night in the company of two cockroaches. The sheets didn't cover the mattress so in the morning we were lying on a bare soiled mattress. There are no screen on the windows and no fan for ventilation with the windows closed..
Such problems may be common in cheap hotels but what made the Jupiter stand out was the
attitude of the staff (except for the bellboy/repair man). The woman at reception and the manager himself were surly, rude, and dishonest. (They said they had no twin bedded rooms.)
Finally the food was terrible. Dinner inedible; breakfast very poor; lunch adequate but not good.
I urge you to stay elsewhere.

They take care of everything!
Pros:

We stayed in a nice hotel near the Kenyatta Airport for 2 days, but Jupiter Guest Resort set a higher standard for just 500 KS more (5000 KS for 2 of us a night). It has big rooms, a 2’ x 4’ table to work on with my laptop, two mirrors and decent storage. The security is good! The bed and pillow are real good and the bug net excellent. They clean and change sheets and towels, etc. daily. The bathroom plumbing works well (I am comparing it to Uganda where we are staying for six months) (need to BARELY put on shower water to get it hot-if you turn it more, cold water is added.) The shower drains well and they have towel mats on the floor to help. They have thought of everything! We stayed 11 days. The included breakfast buffet is fast and especially good on Sundays. The location is a block off Longata Rd and very near the Carnavore Restaurant (Very expensive) Wilson Airport (busy with small planes that mostly take people on Safarri), Kibera slum (can see from hotel but NEVER go without local help as it is VERY dangerous), a big supermarket, and 30 minutes from town in non-rush hour traffic. There is a good pizza restaurant and a good chicken restaurant nearby on Longata Rd. The Matatu's (16 pax van taxi’s if you are a bit adventurous – when the guy taps you on the shoulder or looks at you, it is time to pay) are cheap (about $.50 US to downtown) and stop on Longata, you will need to ask someone where. Beware that different routes go different places so ask the staff before you go on a Matatu. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the food good (but takes a very long time, i.e 30 to 75 minutes). The Food Court at Galleria (about 3 miles farther away from downtown is excellent and service takes less than 15 minutes for all kinds of good food and ice cream). It only costs $.35 to get up to Galleria by Matatu (they call it gaLARia). I would definitely seek out this hotel if I come to Nairobi again. TIP: Always carry a little flashlight in case you get back in the dark. We walked between the hotel and Langata several times with no trouble but without light it is difficult. We were to leave on Aug 7 but due to the big fire at the airport stayed another day and took a bus back to Kampala. Gertrude the manager was EXREMELY helpful in setting up good seats for the bus!

Good for stopovers and if you're planning to go to Carnivore
Pros:

Within walking distance to Carnivore restaurant - but don't walk when it's dark, might be too dangerous. Staff, especially reception and their manager, were very helpful. Restaurant breakfast was good - but dinners took almost two hours to be served, and they were out of the Western based dishes - their African dishes were slightly faster. Good value for money, if you want something affordable - wifi access was great one the first visit but patchy on the second.

1 st. time great 2 time we left.
Pros:

The first time I was there good experience, excellent wi-fi. Very pleasant staff all over. Good food all over also breakfast was good. Second time was there it took 2 hours to get a meal in the restaurant. The dinner never came so we left the Jupiter. Was stopped at gate by security for unpaid bill at restaurant. After a lot of argument they finally let us out. I will not go back there ever.
