This was purely a spiritual quest visit, and although I had travelled with my mother for 3 days and 2 nights, we managed to cover all the key areas of Amritsar, including seeing the evening parade at the India/Pakistan border, really felt proud of my heritage. The Golden Temple was worth it, especially seeking spiritual blessings, and it was easy to navigate and find despite the nearly 2-hour wait to go to the main temple. Understanding the history of the Jallianwala Bagh and the massacre involved was eye-opening, and you couldn't help but shed a tear or two. We also went to a few temples en enroute to the India/Pakistan border, especially the birthplace of Lord Raam's twin children, "Luv & Kush," and the rishi who wrote the epic tale of "Ramayan". Overall, we had maximised our trip to Amritsar; next time, we will visit for a day. My mother also made some friends at the hotel who were from the Philippines and Los Angeles, and we really enjoyed getting to know them. It was also good to see the farmlands of Punjab as you really get a sense of India through the farm lands, just like the movies.
What was dissapointing on day 1 was that we had ordered some food because our flight to Amritsar was late, so we had to eat dinner very late, which left us with a lot of leftovers. Another issue we had was that the overnight food, which we wanted to be reheated, didn't arrive until a couple of hours later, and this was after leaving for the Golden Temple, which was dissapointing. Also, the toilet flush was not working, and we had to use extra towels; the TV was not working either.
