Location
Outlet and usb outlets on either side of the bed did not work . Thermostat stayed at 72 even tho we set it at 67. The gym floor was extremely slippery so whatever they are using to clean it, was not the appropriate cleaner for that floor (we heard others comment about the floor as well ) the women’s restroom near the gym was full of bugs that were coming from the drain (they were on the walls , toilet, mirror and in the sink . Definitely not a 655.00 a night facility !
We booked a suite with Hilton Honors points. Checked in and were told we could not have the room we booked due to HVAC issues. After three hours we were put into regular room and told we would be moved after the HVAC issues were resolved. The next day after multiple complaints to the front desk we got into our room later that day. By the way, the Boston Celtics were staying at the hotel that weekend and checked out right before we got into the suite we booked.
We received a letter upon check out promising our points back within a few days.
Nine months later after multiple emails and calls no resolution.
Ian Fleming, Director of Operations of the Daxton promised by email a resolution by the following week, that was over a month ago.
Send another request on Monday still no response!
I am a Diamond reserve member and this is unacceptable.
Hilton and Daxton customer service is terrible and not focused on the customer at all.
My next step is Better Business Bureau.
Chatgpt recommends it for me with a couple of other hotels
The rooms were unexpectedly very dirty.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The property is beautiful, with impressive artwork throughout.
Check-in was quick and easy with the digital key. The hotel was spotless, our room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and the staff was friendly and welcoming.
We also appreciated the complimentary pantry on each floor, stocked with bottled water, soft drinks, snacks, chips and light bites.
Valet parking is $40 per night, or you can use the 24-hour parking garage behind the Daxton for $10 overnight self-parking (no in-and-out privileges).
The happy hour was a great value, featuring half-price cocktails and appetizers. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.
The Daxton hotel in downtown Birmingham has very friendly staff. My husband and I live in the community and we walk by a couple days a week and we are always greeted by the valet/door staff, especially Jacob B and Gabe S. Our dog loves to go there for a homemade dog biscuit, made on site! If dogs could talk, he would say how delicious the biscuits are!
Wow! What an absolute delight of a hotel right in the middle of downtown Birmingham.
What a fun, artsy, quirky upscale hotel full of unique touches. The lobby is packed with energy and art and was buzzing when we checked in.
We were warmly welcomed with sparkling wine, nice touch!
Our Junior Suite overlooked the Main Street and was absolutely quiet and spacious and one of the most stylish rooms I’ve had anywhere in a long time. Great bed, solid room amenities including a nice coffee maker, free snack and drink pantry down the hall and climate controls that worked great.
Totally a perfect stay, friendly staff that kept engaging with us throughout.
Highly recommended 100/100!
I had a great experience staying at the Daxton Hotel. The person who checked me in was extremely helpful when my reservation did not initially appear in the system, and he honored the same rate without any issues. The valet staff, especially Ethan and Lane, went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. Since this was my first time renting an electric vehicle, they took the time to help me understand how everything worked, charged the vehicle for me, and even provided helpful directions and travel advice for my trip to Ohio. Their professionalism, kindness, and willingness to help truly made a difference in my stay.
Very, very noisy and crowded. Service was excellent. Food okay. Expensive.
Great stay! Ethan was especially willing to go above and beyond for our entire stay. Fantastic!
Eli was incredibly helpful and kind! He went above and beyond by fixing my broken belt buckle, which I truly appreciated. His attitude was polite, professional, and genuinely caring. Great service!
The Daxton is a beautiful, modern hotel in a prime area of Birmingham. The staff were friendly and responsive. To get to the level of service on par with the Ritz, Four Seasons, etc, the following issues need to be addressed:
1. When a guest lists 4 ppl on their reservation, ensure there are 4 sets of bath towels. If there are children, ask what time you would like the sofa bed made at check-in so guests don't have to call to request it.
2. Toilet paper and tissue box refills should be checked every cleaning and replenished as noted.
3. Room keys are constantly deactivated. This is frustrating and caused us to make multiple trips to the front desk.
4. A microwave should be placed in the pantry of every floor to make it convenient vs calling to have one brought to the room. They should also be cleaned between guests, as the microwave we received was disgusting.
5. Lastly, the pantry on each floor should offer plastic cutlery in addition to cups, as they provide yogurt/granola, tea, etc but not spoons were available.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay, loved the breakfast and would stay here again in the future.
Ethan in valet is great! Recommend this hotel if you’re traveling with a dog and or baby! We had both.
We previously stayed at the Daxton Hotel and had a positive experience, spending over $1,900 during a prior visit. Based on that, we chose to book again through Amex Travel for March 6–8.
Unfortunately, due to severe weather, our travel plans completely fell apart. Our original flight was changed, then canceled. We rebooked on another airline for over $800 out of pocket, only to have that flight delayed for hours and ultimately canceled as well. We never made it to Detroit.
We contacted Amex Travel immediately from the airport, and they informed us that the hotel was unwilling to fully waive the stay, instead requiring payment for one night. Even the Amex representative noted this was unusual given the circumstances.
What was most disappointing is that despite being repeat guests and clearly unable to travel due to weather, the hotel did not demonstrate flexibility or understanding. Ultimately, we were charged for a stay we never used and never had the ability to attend.
While Amex later assisted in partially resolving the issue, the experience with the hotel’s policy and lack of accommodation was extremely discouraging.
We had planned to continue staying here during future trips to Detroit, but this experience has changed that. I would strongly encourage future guests to understand the hotel’s policies, as there appears to be little consideration for circumstances outside of a guest’s control.
Valet service was excellent! Eli took care of my car and had a great attitude that I loved! Excited to return!
The Daxton allowed bar guests to charge their drinks to my room. We never went to the bar but have wine bottles and other drinks charged to our account. I get that mistakes happen, but after notifying the hotel it has been days and we have no resolution. They don't reply to their listed emails. They can't help over the phone. They always say they need a specific manager to "investigate" but that manager rarely seems to be in and never gets around to this. In the meantime, they've charged me already and don't seem to care at all.
This is supposed to be a high end hotel. If you screw up and overcharge someone, make it a priority to fix and don't be so obviously dismissive.
The rooms are nice but low to the ground so expect noise.
The Daxton Hotel is the epitome of luxury. I stay was perfect. The hotel was gorgeous and the staff was very attentive. In particular, Ethan in the valet was particularly excellent.
I would highly recommend
We always enjoy staying at this hotel. The service is excellent. Madam, the restaurant, is excellent. From the front desk, servers, bartender, management, etc, all are welcoming, very considerate and always accommodating. Thank you!!!
