A welcome stop that exceeded my expectation
Pros:

Reception was friendly and helpful. The dinner menu was excellent and the food very good. The room was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was well organised and the choices good. I enjoyed my overnight stay and would stay longer with pleasure.

In general it was the perfect stay however the establishment is old and there are a lot of stairs so if there are mobility issues make sure the Inn knows when booking.

Cons:

An old pub with a good bar and restaurant. Rooms are comfortable but small.
Pros:

The hotel is comfortable and the food is good.

Cons:

The stairs with heavy luggage and no one to help you up or down with it. The bathroom was very small and tight and the shower over the bath awkward to climb in and out of. Sadly the village has no other amenities or points of interest anymore. (just one small corner shop) so no where interesting to walk to without a car.

Great stay in wonderful building
Pros:

Wonderful old building which has been sympathetically refurbished and extended to provide a great hotel and fantastic restaurant. Convenient location just off the A1M makes a great overnight stay on long journey as well as a good base to explore the region. I must applaud the staff who were all cheerful, friendly and extremely helpful. Although the room was small, the facilities were excellent including coffee machine, quality radio, heated bathroom mirror and tasteful furnishings.

Cons:

My wife's gluten free toast was a bit soggy, otherwise all was perfect.

A lovely night away - great experience!
Pros:

We booked a dog-friendly room, of which there are 3, and were given a garden room with access to the lawned area in case the dog needed to go out in the night.
The room was well furnished and very comfortable, and the toiletries were amazing!
We didn't stay for breakfast but dined in the restaurant the previous night. Food was excellent. A good range of dishes.

Cons:

Nothing.
