everthing about the Seiryu exceeded our expectations
Nothing
The location was fabulous and the facilities were first class!
Ingress and egress were different at times but that was because it was so close to the tourist attractions

I loved the library dining room and the breakfast was yummy - we loved the traditional offerings - they were delicious
The restaurants were not as good as eating out in town
The room was comfortable and large with big windows, well equipped. Lots of light, roof top and pagoda views, modern and serene room. The bathroom is big, great hot water pressure, wonderful amenities constantly replenished. Loved the wood tooth brushes, combs, and hair brushes. Very sweet to send up to the room nonalcoholic Chardonnay for a birthday—was delicious.
Guests should be told to wear the indoor slippers provided by the hotel because the carpets have dirt stains. The third sofa bed was smaller than expected. Non dairy milk or creamer should be provided for the coffee machine.
excellent service and amazing property
Wonderful Cultural experiences included
Hotel is phenomenal, new and good design that respects the old school. The staff were fantastic, and super helpful. Excellent location. The best hotel we stayed in in Japan
nothing - it's amazing!
it was one of the best hotels we stayed in in Japan! Very modern and renovated with respect to the old building
I think what is missing is a spa/wellness center!
Our 3rd visit to the hotel. We love staying here. Nice room, good location, and very helpful staff :)
Nothing
Fabulous location in heart of Gion close to the main temples. A very special location and property. Rooms of good size, super comfortable and well equipped. Lounge is a real benefit and staff there super helpful and accommodating of all. Also events put on for guests. Check out was a good experience with a super helpful staff member; breakfast box was good!
The restaurants - required booking well in advance. This even included breakfast on one day (was over new year holiday). We therefore missed out on the sushi restaurant. Benoit - food was mixed and we didn’t feel very welcome (comparing to eating at another Gion hotel restaurant where we were warmly welcomed as walk-ins!). Paying an 11,000 yen cover charge to sit and eat in the largely empty indoor bar area as residents felt over the top. Bar menu also limited. Steak was good though. All these things could have been made clear in advance or at check in but weren’t.
Location, building
Continental breakfast was just okay. But the traditional Japanese Michelin breakfast was amazing. Kids struggled to find something they liked.
Very luxurious experience. Hotel was close to 2 historic UNESCO sites and lots of tourist shopping. The "guest lounge" concept was impressive and I enjoyed many champagnes there with finger food.
Far from "normal" restaurants - need a 20 minute brisk walk, which is not always recommended in winter with little kids and an old parent.
Guests have access to the guest lounge, and there are also several convenient stores nearby for a quick breakfast option.
Can’t think of anything.
