Hyatt Place Altoona/Des Moines

The hotel is super clean, very family friendly, and the staff were amazing. I cannot say enough positive things about our experience at this particular hotel.

The hotel and hotel staff are great. Well located, friendly, comfy rooms. However on my recent stay the wireless internet didn't work at all the first night and the TV service was in and out both nights. The onsite staff is unable to troubleshoot so and their solution was for me to call their provider - which was about as frustrating and non-helpful as you would imagine that calling the cable company would be.

I didn't spend too much time in the hotel except to sleep and have breakfast, but it was clean, smelled good, and the breakfasts were good, although I would like more bacon :). When I interacted with anyone at the front desk they were very friendly and helpful. The bartender, Matthew, was so patient to deal with our rowdy group! Bed was lumpy but decent.

This was our 2nd time spending the night here at Hyatt in Des Moines and Marty at the front counter is the best!! I've never had any front desk people at hotels actually care for their job. Marty was having full blown conversations with us and making our stay much better!! We did get back and our key wouldn't work, went to the front desk and they helped us right away!! The rooms were very clean, I enjoyed my stay! The price of the room was pretty good for booking last minute aswell!! 5/5 stars for sure!!

Outstanding experience all around. Great room, very clean, and quite possibly the quietest hotel I've ever stayed at. And the price was very reasonable for this level of hotel. I will 100% be back next year.

I was disappointed with this stay-it was quite expensive as the state fair was going on. I had a number of issues from not being able to find my reservation without calling the hotel directly, we had to park very far away from the actual building, I could not find anyone to check us in at first and then there was no key for the room. She stated the key programmer was down again and she could let me in and slide a key under the door later....never saw a key and felt trapped because I did not want to trust I could find someone to help me get back in if I ran to the car for the things I forgot...not to mention the car was forever away. Contacted the company on their chat line and was offered points....no one wants to stay where their safety and privacy are not valued....

Lovely hotel. Ne, clean and very pet friendly. Really enjoyed our stay. Large pet area, which was ideal for us. Beautiful room and good breakfast. Overall a very good stay.

We love to make a weekend out of our ISF trip, and this was our 4th year now staying overnight at a hotel..we’ve had some trial and errors the last 3 times but THIS year we found the winner! Hyatt Place was truly everything it claimed to be and more! Main uses of the room of course is to sleep and shower, so why does it really matter where we stay?! The location was super convenient and comfortable being near the outlet mall, there’s a variety of places to eat real close by, it took us no time at all to get to the fairgrounds, and their cleaning crew is truly top tier! We’ve stayed a different place each year and sadly did not have great experiences, but the Hyatt stole our hearts only adding to a trip we look forward to every year! We would highly recommend them to all, you won’t be disappointed! (already booking for 2026) Thank you so much, and we’ll see you next time!

No microwave? No outlets on both sides of a king size bed.

The hotel looks brand new, super clean, we loved that it had hardwood (faux) floors rather than carpet. Its location is across from the outlets and there are restaurants within walking distance.

Excellent location- pool was perfect, staff were helpful, food choices were geat, room was gorgeous and well designed

Staff was super friendly and the hotel was modern. The manager even called me the day of our stay because they had to switch our room type. Everything was clean and very little noise from other rooms or the hallway. Breakfast was great and hot, even though we got to breakfast pretty late. Pool was nice and well kept, and they even had a hot tub, which most Hyatt places I’ve stayed at do not. Wonderful experience, would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Water is too soft in the shower other than that we had a pleasant stay. Great breakfast, Gym & Pool. We stayed 3 times in the hotel.
