Sand Bar Cottage Inn

We traveled 3500 miles in 4 days. With Acadia National Park as our destination. Hoping we could make it, even if only for a few hours. At the end of our day we booked Sand Bar Inn. It was by far the BEST room we had our whole vacation! We stayed in the Southeast room, upstairs in the grey house. The room was spacious, clean and adorable! We would definitely stay again and longer!

Chris and staff went above and beyond beyond to make sure that we felt at home and had everything we could need or want for an incredible week.

Options for eating inside and out. Table service. Good food.

Always my favorite in Bar Harbor! Chris is fantastic, rooms are wonderful and you are in walking distance of everything you need in Bar Harbor. I highly recommend!

I had been traveling solo throughout NE on a 10 week adventure. My stay at Sand Bar Cottage Inn was my last - and my best - accommodation experience of the entire trip.

Yes, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are wonderful. Yes, the Cottage Inn property and location are perfection. But, it was the Innkeeper, Chris Ruk, that made this stay one of my all-time my favorite vacation experiences. Ever!

Chris is old school when it comes to service and hospitality; you feel immediately seen, valued and welcome. Chris also makes himself easily available to guests for questions, local recommendations, and just general good conversation. You never feel you are a bother, (as was my experience at another B&B in Maine).

My only regret staying at Sand Bar Cottage Inn is that I wish I had reserved a longer stay!

I was there for 4 days and 3 nights and I wish I had booked a week! It was such a joy-filled, fun, and peaceful experience, I didn’t want to leave.

I will definitely be back to stay here again!

Rooms were spacious, bed was comfortable, everything was clean and quiet. Loved the breakfast and the kind staff. We enjoyed chatting with other guests. Location was excellent, don't miss the sand bar!

Short walk to shops and harbor. Acadia National Park is a short drive as well.

Breakfast was outstanding and the afternoon tea and sweet snacks was a welcome surprise.

Room was quiet, comfortable and clean. The entire house and fireplace was so relaxing.

Our host - Chris was delightful and knew lots of history on the house and area.

Our only advice would be to go before the 1st part of November as many places in the area close for the season.

Loved, loved, loved the entire four days we were lucky enough to be in Bar Harbor AND stay at the Sand Bar Cottage! The Cottage is adorable, clean, quiet (when needed to be) and an experience in and of itself! Chris is hospitable and a wealth of information, the food each morning was delicious and the snacks in the afternoon were a welcome delight. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Sand Bar Cottage.

There's a reason this B&B is #1 in Bar Harbor - a big part of it is the manager, Chris. Not only did he make us feel welcome from the time we checked in, he found out it was our friend's birthday and made a special trip out to bring back a birthday cupcake complete with lighted candle to enjoy in "her birthday chair" by the fire! Why you should pick Sand Bar:
- Chris! and Keisha who checked us in was also great.
- The gourmet breakfast served at your table in the wonderful dining rooml! On the three days we stayed, we enjoyed a wide range of delicious, home-made dishes: fresh from the oven poppy seed and blueberry crunch bread, pumpkin muffins, quiche, frittata, breakfast sandwich and more.
- Tea time: more delicious home baked treats and special juices to go with
- The star of the show: this beautiful Victorian house, furnished with wonderful paintings and art in every room. We spent a lot of time in the living room by the fire, meeting and chatting with other guests. So homey!
- Location, location, location - a short stroll to town, in our case, through spectacular Fall foliage

Could not think of a single negative except the time it took to travel there from Texas, which of course was not this establishment's fault!

We are already planning a trip back - recommending Sand Bar to our hiking friends so that we can return and hike some more in Acadia National Park.

Beautiful and quaint Sand Bar Cottage Inn was better than fantastic. Chris Ruk, the Innkeeper, was over the top wonderful, friendly, and helpful. Every morning we were served a gourmet breakfast, and every afternoon a special treat was available at tea time. A warm fire lit the cozy main roam where we relaxed before we went out to dinner. The shops and restaurants were an easy walk away.
I can’t say enough about our experience. It was the perfect addition to our trip to Bar Harbor.

The inn was lovely with artwork throughout . The staff were warm, friendly & very helpful . Our room was very clean as was all of the inn ! The bed was very comfortable ( which can be an issue we’ve found at many facilities ) .Terrific location.

My parents and I enjoyed a fabulous weekend in Bar Harbor staying at the Sand Bar Cottage! Staying in such a wonderfully maintained vintage home with modern upgrades/amenities and the friendliest hosts felt like the perfect touch for our coastal Maine weekend. We loved feeling like we were "right at home" and couldn't get over all of the little ways that the Sand Bar Cottage team made us feel welcome & cozy. We couldn't recommend them more for your visit!
