Hotel Playamaro

Do not book this hotel!!!!
I have travelled to a lot of places and this is not good.
Why?
The online check in is absolutely terrible.
They do not clean rooms or even fresh towels.
If you return after midnight you have to have a code to get in and that after an hour checking in was not given to us.
If you go no reception and online only then be online!!!
There are better options in Maro.

We spent a week at the PlayaMaro Hotel and absolutely loved it! The hotel has a rustic charm , a little old-fashioned, but full of character. The staff were wonderful, so friendly and welcoming. The location is perfect, safe, and right in the beautiful village of Maro. Food was tasty, and the atmosphere felt authentically Spanish. A great choice if you’re looking for genuine hospitality and a true taste of Spain.

Ha destacar la atención de todo el personal, un trato excepcional. La habitación confortable y cómoda. A tener en cuenta que los desayunos podrían tener algo más de variedad, porque es escaso la verdad. Y de nuevo repetir desde el personal de limpieza, mantenimiento y camareros un trato increíble.

No había recepción presencial, por lo que nos enviaron toda la información por mail y whatsApp. No venía la información del horario del desayuno, lo que sería importante a añadir. Por lo demás bien. Ha sido un sitio agradable.

We didn't expect much for the price and were pleased with the size of room and ammenities. Nice little kitchen. Toilet and shower ok. Good air conditioning but not in bedroom. We brought a fan with us. Convenient for beach and taxis available to Nerja for less than 10 euros. However, we had no fresh towels all week. No clothes horse to dry clothes. Pool is grotty with clumps of hair from drain. Bar below is awful for evening meals. Parking is difficult too. We did enjoy our stay. Just accept basic conditions.

El alojamiento está bien, lo único q no me gustó era q no disponía de ningún tendedero y cuando llegas de la playa vendría bien para toallas y bañadores.
El parking muy concurrido y poco sitio para aparcar.

I stayed at this hotel in Nerja, and while the location is convenient and close to Nerja Cueva, that’s where the positives end. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone.

The hotel falls drastically short on the most basic hospitality standards. The cleanliness was absolutely unacceptable - rooms were not properly cleaned, and hygiene standards were far below what any guest should expect. The overall comfort level was extremely poor, making it difficult to relax or get a good night’s sleep.

Despite the decent location that offers easy access to local attractions, the fundamental issues with cleanliness, comfort, and hygiene make this hotel unsuitable for any traveler. These are not minor inconveniences but serious deficiencies that significantly impact the guest experience.

I would strongly advise looking for alternative accommodation in the area. There are certainly better options available that maintain proper standards of cleanliness and comfort. Save yourself the disappointment and choose elsewhere.

A la llegada faltaba una cama, la habitación estaba sucia, tuvimos que barrer nosotros, polvo sobre los enseres, me cobraron la estancia doble, el cubo de la limpieza estaba todo el día en el pasillo con el agua negra,etc.

Good location for the beaches at Maro and quieter than Nerja. Maro village is nice and we had good evening meals there. The pueblo needs to crack down on the very obvious drug dealing in the streets.
Our rooms were nice with a generous balcony. It was clean. But
-you need to take your own things for making coffee _ there is a hob and a microwave
-when we turned the air con, the fuse blew.
_the front door had been left wide open one afternoon when we got back. We were unable to close it after us.
We were there off season. Hopefully things are better organised during high season. If so, it would be avery nice place to stay.

Not as advertised on Expedia web site. No cafeteria or restaurant

This place is the most disgusting hotel ever the photos that are online hotel booking platforms are so far from the truth of this rundown outdated place. Definitely catfished.. I had booked a mini break with 2 of my friends in nerja. We were looking forward to a relaxing holiday instead we were left in tears and stress. This hotel had no reception open no support from anyone. There is no restaurant or pool bar no where to get even a glass of water. The rooms were filthy and definitely not fit for any human to stay in. We had to fork out for alternative accommodation. We were left totally disappointed and stressed that ruined our stay in nerja. This place should not be on any hotel booking platform. Photos included of what we actually were expected to stay in

Where to start? Check in was less than smooth. It required multiple WhatsApp messages and phone calls. If you decide to stay here and don’t have WhatsApp, download before going!
We knew it was off season so were prepared for fewer amenities, no biggie for us.
The hotel itself is a throw back in time. Some might feel nostalgia going back to a simpler era. Quaint even.
We booked a 2 bed with a kitchenette. The beds were ok but not somewhere you’d like to curl up in and sip your morning coffee. That’s probably a good thing because you couldn’t make coffee in the room!
We overlooked the fact that the room was dirty and that there were cigarette butts out on the spacious balcony, because the balcony was probably the highlight of the room.
As it was off season and unusually cool, we tried putting the heat on to take the edge off. Unfortunately, that blew a breaker which meant no heat, no tv (not that you go to Spain for the tv), and no power to what passed for a kitchenette. Quick call to the people we spoke with to check us in and we’re assured a technician would be out. Two days later they said the technician had been. Unfortunately all they did was flip the breaker so when we turned the heat on, we immediately lost it again! We spent the time there with no heat or ability to use the kitchen.
We love this area and charmed by the old Spanish decor. But….if you want a comfortable and relaxing stay, it’s NOT here!

This would have been a fabulous hotel in 1980… sadly it has declined and not been updated… the photographs are long out of date. The kitchen and dining table were dirty, the fixtures and fittings were dated and the decaying dead bird on the balcony sort of summed our stay up.

Excellent location in a beautiful village

I BEG THE BRITISH NOT TO BOOK THIS HOTEL with on the beach. They don't like complaints, and I've reported our room not being cleaned for 5 days now, do not fall for there false advertisements that there's a pool to the restaurant being open when it's not, on the beach and the hotel do not care, they expect us british people to live in filth. I ain't no scruff. Enjoy the pictures and I hope it puts you off like it has with me. I will fight for the refund believe me. There scruffs and lazy.

it was okay but when I was looking for a hotel in Nerva, this one popped up. So I booked. Little did I know it was not in Nerva but in Maro, so that was a little deceiving, had to change a few things right there, was of course no way to look for something in Nerva directly, so we stayed

Wir waren vom 15.09.2024 bis Ende September in dem Hotel. Alles hat ohne Probleme funktioniert. Wir hatten eine WhatsApp-Nummer, unter der wir uns informieren konnten. Wir haben z.B. am letzten Tag um eine Verlängerung des Check out gebeten, weil wir am Abend einen Flug hatten und ohne Probleme wurde uns das gegen einen kleinen Aufpreis erlaubt. Wir erhielten einen Link und bezahlten sofort.
Der Eingang zum Hotel ist mit einem Code versehen, ebenso die Eingänge zu den Zimmern. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Terrasse (006) und wir waren wirklich sehr zufrieden. Das Parken war immer kostenlos. Strände insgesamt sehr schön, nur geht es die ganze Zeit bergab. Zum Strand von Maro kann man mit dem Auto fahren. Strände so gemütlich, und schön. Wenn jemand Ruhe mag, ist es zu empfehlen.
Nach Nerja sind es etwa 7 Minuten mit dem Auto, aber man muss lange nach einem Parkplatz suchen. Die Parkplätze sind kostenlos.
Das Einzige, was ich mir wünschte, wäre, dass die Küche besser ausgestattet wäre, aber wir haben es hinbekommen.

This property was ok. Had to move apartments because the blinds did not close in my first room, when I changed room the shower in this apartment was honestly ridiculous. Soaked the whole bathroom. Reported all the issues, nothing got sorted during my 4 night stay. There were no utensils, all of the plates and cutlery were left in the drying rack. The bottom of the bath was dirty. Didn’t go up to the pool area as I spent my time in Nerja. But other than these issues, it was ok.
