Perfect Paro Getaway
Pros:

Blissfully Quiet and Serene Stay. Excellent Hospitality. Very accommodating for every request you make. Surprisingly close to Paro airport. The heated pool is a perfect place to bond with family or reconnect with yourself. Indian food needs some improvement.

Beautiful Accommodation in a Beautiful Setting
Pros:

This hotel is set in a spectacular setting and is also well located. The villa we stayed in was huge. In addition to spacious dining areas there was a large bathroom and also a massage room. We had spectacular views and we also easily spotted birds and animals (including jackals early in the morning). We had our own butler who looked after our every need and buggied us from our villa whenever we wanted and to wherever we were headed. She was extremely accommodating. The food was exceptionally good...fresh ingredients with excellent presentation.

Wonderful seven nights in Bhutan
Pros:

Uma Paro is lovely. We did the 7 night COMO highlights of Bhutan package and found it very good.

The absolute stand out was our guide Tshering Dorji who was the best guide we’ve ever had on our travels - the perfect balance of deep knowledge, humour, patience and meeting all of our needs. He was amazing and along with our excellent driver Namgey looked after us brilliantly. While we broadly had an itinerary we shaped in as we went and added and subtracted according to what we wanted to do - all without any issue.

COMO does really great food. Healthy; much sourced from their own gardens, options that are Bhutanese, western and Indian. And delicious. Head Chef Tshering was amazing and was wonderful to meet too. If you’re into food, it’s worth coming to COMO just for this.

Beyond that staff were great - all of them. From managers to wait staff in the restaurants. We were looked after and accommodated in many ways. We enjoyed the spa treatments at both COMO sites though Nema at COMO Punakha was one of the best masseuses we’ve ever had (she is amazing!).

Everything ran smoothly, from booking with the reservations team in advance, sorting visas and our actual trip.

The trip is pricey and while COMO may be less than other hotel chains it still charges premium prices - on a global level. And we felt that the hotel just wasn’t up to the standard we’d have expected. A bit dated, needing a touch of TLC. But when you’re paying well over $1000 a night for a room it should blow you away. And it didn’t.

Still; we had a brilliant time. If you pick COMO enjoy the food. And ask for Tshering as your guide. He’s amazing!

Stunning Hotel, But $1,600 Went Missing During Night Service
Pros:

COMO Uma Paro is visually breathtaking and serene — but sadly, my stay was overshadowed by a deeply unsettling experience.

$1,600 in cash disappeared from my room following the hotel’s night turndown service. I reported the incident immediately. The hotel responded with a polite but vague internal investigation, ultimately stating there was “no evidence of theft.” At no point was I asked for a formal statement, nor were external authorities involved.

This isn’t about the money. It’s about the absence of real accountability — a fundamental failure for a property that positions itself as a leader in luxury hospitality.

I write this not with anger, but with clarity: future guests should be aware that while COMO Uma Paro offers peace and beauty, that calm exterior may not extend to how they handle serious security concerns.

We felt like royalty! Beautiful property and stay.
Pros:

Spectacular property, beautiful pool, wonderful staff. The pictures don't do justice - our room was bright, modern, and the size of a large apartment complete with kitchen, living room, bedroom, and massive bedroom. The restaurant was wonderful and we returned to eat there again on our last night even though we weren't staying at the resort. Everyone went out of our way to make our stay perfect and we felt like royalty.

Sweeping Views of the Paro valley from our very comfortable room
Pros:

Como Uma Paro was a good choice. The hotel itself is set high above the Paro valley - with views of the very difficult approach into Paro International Airport ( don’t worry, there’s no noise pollution from the few daily incoming flights).
The rooms are on the smaller side but very stylish and well appointed.
The restaurant is the show stopper with wood stoves and an overall stunning design.
Service was excellent. The menu in the restaurant changes every 2 days - we were unlucky that the menu was static for the 2 nights we were there.
The food is good - but not excellent.
The bar at the hotel looks like an afterthought and really needs “something” to make it more cosy and appealing but the pomegranate cosmo’s were very tasty!
Do make time for an archery lesson - they’re included and we had so much fun learning the Bhutanese National sport with a longbow. This was a definite highlight!
Would we stay again- pretty sure we would.

Nice hotel and spa
Pros:

A nice hotel in the Paro valley before for the airport and the hike up to the Tigers Nest. Would recommend the rooms with the lovely valley views and small balconies. There is an extensive spa there that we didn’t use but did use their lovely swimming pool large.

Good food and service in their restaurant usually. However our one issue was that despite them saying breakfast starts at 6.30, even when we pre-ordered our breakfast the night before for 6.30 it didn’t happen and the drinks and simple breakfast didn’t arrive until 6.50 when we were due to meet our guide at 7. Considering most people stay there for that Tigers Nest hike and the guides suggest starting early to help avoiding the heat it’s very disappointing that the hotel are not actually geared up for that.

A wonderful stay
Pros:

We took whole package from Como covering Uma and Punakha. Our guide was Wangda and our driver was Tsering. Our guide and driver really made our stay memorable. I wouldn't want to spoil all their caring touches but rest assured we appreciated the thoughtful surprises like the full meal "picnic" lunch by the river and the fresh juices during our hikes.

The food in Como and also during the tours were good. We looked forward to breakfast and dinner. The lady at the restaurant, Tema(?) at Como Uma was really so warm and kind.

The rooms were cozy and very clean. The staff were sincerely very helpful.

Great luxurious stay near the airport
Pros:

Wonderful luxury hotel close to the airport, great to end the trip. It has everything you expect from a luxury stay. Great staff, great service and we had a one bedroom villa which was large and private. Our butler Karma was excellent. This is our first experience with COMO hotels and we look forward to trying their other properties.

Restaurant was good. Breakfast was good. The spa and indoor swimming pool were beautiful. The grounds were private and beautifully manicured with the friendly local dogs that come to visit daily.

This was the first luxury category resort in Bhutan (read “oldest”). As some of the reviewers have noted, it is a bit “tired” and could do with a refresh. But it didn’t take away from the wonderful stay and staff.

Nice view over the Paro Vallex
Pros:

Nice view over the Paro Valley but very old and run down dark rooms. Not up to Bhutanese standard. Staff is very nice and friendly and very helpful, food is ok and nothing special. But we celebrated an important birthday there for one of my clients and they went out of their way to make this a very special event. Nice place but needs an upgrade!!!

Kind staff makes Como a top choice in Paro
Pros:

Lovely simple accommodations in the main hotel. The staff and their willingness to accommodate all needs truly make this hotel the best option in Paro for the upper end luxury options. We loved our meals and time at the hotel

Can’t recommend enough.

Hillside Hotel.
Pros:

Located a 10 minute drive from airport and town . In wooded position
Pleasant welcome.
Main foyer and seating area is quite nice, as is the bar.
We had a mountain view room that is to 4 star standard, just. The view however is fantastic.
On entering the room the drains smelled bad. Housekeeping sorted it out. Condition of the room is good. Comfy bed.
The restaurant is a bit chaotic. Young and inexperienced staff mostly.
For a couple of nights it does the job. I can't put my finger on it, but neither of us were that keen on this hotel.

Underwhelming Stay at COMO Paro: Not Worth the Price
Pros:

I stayed at the COMO Uma Paro hotel for two nights and was quite disappointed with the experience. The rooms in the main part of the hotel felt worn and outdated, and unfortunately, it did not feel worth the price we paid. Perhaps the individual cottages offer a different experience.

On a positive note, the food was good, though not exceptional.

Excellent accommodation, food and staff
Pros:

Thank you GM James and team for caring for us so well. We hope to be back and loved meeting everyone.

1. Dorje our butler was outstanding – whatever you pay her you should triple as she is so valuable:)
2. Sangay and Namgay the drivers and guide - outstanding
3. The restaurant was good = we love organic produce and service was excellent
4. The villa was spacious and comfortable
5. The grounds are lovely
6. The spa area needs some work in our opinion, including installation of ice bath/s – heat/cold therapy is huge and ice baths are a brilliant way to quickly recover from trekking/hiking. You have plenty of space.
7. We recommend more gym equipment like foam rollers, stretch bands and other portable items and a rowing machine
9. Yoga was really disappointing – it was like a calisthenics class with the instructor speaking in a loud voice and did not focus on the breath and stretching in harmony. I also felt that clients could be injured due to the lack of guidance and doing repeated single and double leg lifts which are not advisable for people with back pain
10. The massages were not up to the standard we normally see at Como – Shambhala massages average and the abayanga was disappointing.

Anyway, it's certainly worth staying:)

Absolute luxury
Pros:

WOW. What else can you say?

Arrived after a long day of sightseeing and was informed that all members of our group had been upgraded to a villa.

The villas a free standing buildings on the grounds away from the hotel, and they take you to them in a golf buggy so you don't have to walk.

The villas are HUGE! I couldn't believe this whole space was just for me. You get a lounge room, huge bathroom with claw foot bath and separate shower and toilet, a bedroom with a king sized bed and your own massage room! There is also a small butlers pantry for the use of the butler attached to your villa. One of my favorite things was actually that there is a space in the bathroom for your luggage so you don't have to mess up your sleeping space with your suitcase. You can really spread out your belongings and hang stuff up and there's room for more than one bag.

The resort is high on a hill and the view from the bath is amazing.

Had dinner at the restaurant one night and it was lovely as well as drinks at the bar. The staff were also really friendly and helpful.

They also have an archery range so you can try Bhutan's national sport which I thought was really cool.

The only thing with this place, and it's not a complaint just something to be aware of, is that it's really far out of town. It's not walkable to get into Paro so you will need to catch a taxi - I think they may have a shuttle, but don't quote me on that.

I did manage to have a look at the hotel rooms, which to be honest are a bit plain and dated for the price being charged (the villas most certainly are not at all). They have a pool and the spa looks nice too, but didn't have time to try either of these.

The only small problem I had was it took far too long for them to get the luggage to our rooms. We had been hiking and then rafting that day and had a short turn around at the hotel to get changed before attending a business dinner in Paro. It came time to leave and my luggage still had not arrived. I was still damp, sweaty and quite a mess and there was no way I could go out like that, especially to a business function. My luggage eventually arrived and I was forced to have the quickest shower of my life and run (couldn't wait for the buggy) to reception to meet my group and guide - I wasn't even the last one to arrive. Overall, it was a small thing that was annoying, but didn't really taint my experience of what was otherwise an absolutely wonderful stay.

Exactly what we wanted!
Pros:

We made a decision to upgrade our itinerary right before we left home and I’m so glad we did. The beautiful setting up the mountain from the town of Paro was a respite of complete comfort with an outstanding staff. Khara and Kuenga at the desk were kind and very helpful as was the sweet woman in the gift shop. Jigme, in the restaurant, couldn't be more warm and attentive. I’m sorry I don’t have all of the names of everyone who made us feel so welcomed and cared for. It was hard to beat the incredible meals, the lovely pool, spa and yoga classes. Also, my son thoroughly enjoyed the ability to play archery and darts on property.
After hiking during the day, there was nothing like coming back to the peaceful and quiet setting of Uma Como Paro with a staff that went out of their way to care for every need. It was hard to leave!
