Pros:

We came for our wedding night and got a room upgrade to a petite suite which was much appreciated. Also had complimentary champagne and drink cards on arrival.
Overall the hotel is a really interesting space, not generic luxury at all. The hotel bars, cafes, and restaurants are all really lively and feel great to spend time in. They have a real neighborhood feel.

Cons:

This is a 5 star hotel on a 2 star street. It's a wide street that's pretty noisy and ugly. Not much they can do about it though. To be clear, the location is fantastic for accessibility to other parts of Manhattan, but the block is unpleasant.
