Sehr gut gelegene Unterkunft. Alles zu Fuß zu erreichen. Zimmer für zwei Nächte ok für länger viel zu klein . Sehr sehr laut bei geöffnetem Fenster. Parkmöglichkeiten gegenüber für 17€ den Tag bei der Jugendherbergen.

Booked as part of a Christmas gift for my wife, including a gig in nearby Mulheim. Was pleasantly impressed by the reception from the owner Lutz, immediately able to advise us on where locally is good to eat and how to best get to the gig venue. I am full of praise for this establishment. My wife was also happy 😊)

Stayed here during a business trip to Cologne - room was fresh, clean and comfortable. Host was very helpful. Would stay there again if visiting Cologne. Very central for the exhibition centre I was visiting and lots of local eateries/coffee shops.

Only spent one night here but it was just right. The locations is super convenient. By train, it's one street over walking out of the Cologne Deutz train station. It's also a neat walk across the bridge full of lover's padlocks to the cathedral and main shopping area. We drove and upon arrival, the owner hopped in the car to show me a close by parking garage, 12€ per day.
He pointed out favorite restaurants plus a famous one a few doors down from his hotel. Political types will want to ask about the story behind this one.

The hotel was fine and very clean. The breakfast was just right. It is a typical European continental so just set expectations. We really enjoyed. The best part of our stay was the friendliness of the owner and his information.

Hotel Merlin was the perfect hotel for me. I came for a business conference in the Kolnmesse and stayed 3 nights there. It's only 6 minutes walk from there and 3 minutes walk to the train station. The staff were great, super kind and helpful. Lot of very good restaurants are next to the hotel. I very much recommend Hotel Merlin and will defiantly stay there again next time :)

Stayed at this hotel for business. What a lovely little find, great location for the Messe and also an easy walk across the Rhine to the cathedral (20mins). Very clean and comfortable, the owners made me feel very welcome. Recommend.

I have stayed at this hotel quite a few times when I attend a trade show in Koln. It's very close to the Messe fairgrounds and close to public transportation to quickly get to the town centre.The rooms are small, but efficient and clean. Breakfast is great, The owners are very nice and attentive.

I stayed at the Merlin hotel on 14th July for one night. There was a large festival on that in Cologne and I was fortunate to get the last room available in the hotel (I made the reservation via phone and spoke to the owner directly). The owner pointed out to me that the only room left was a small single room only with the toilet just outside my room accessible via a separate key. That was fine for me since I only needed it for the night. I arrived at the hotel by car and the owner greeted me and got into my car to try and direct me towards a good parking space since most of the car parks would be taken up by the festival. In the end we had to go for a park house since all his usual 'secret' parking spots were taken. That was no problem for me but I thought great service by the owner who was anxious to find me a good parking spot. The hotel is very clean and primarily caters for business travellers who visit some of the professional fairs in Cologne (as the owner explained to me). My room was very clean, comfortable single bed, very clean shower cabin, actually much better than I expected. The toilet itself was also spotless. You get a free mineral water and the mini bar is very reasonable priced, with soft drinks at Euro 1 and a large bottle of beer at Euro 2. I did not use of it but definitely great value for money.

I made the reservation including breakfast. The breakfast room was relatively small but perfectly adequate for the size of the hotel. The owner prepared the breakfast himself and it was very good (good coffee, fresh bread rolls, cheese, ham, juice, muesli, etc.).

The hotel is in a very quiet side street but at a great location just a few minutes walk to the City centre. Perfect for me.

The owner is a very friendly and professional host and I left very pleased with my stay.

I can definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for good value for money and your focus is on clean, good quality accommodation.

Looking at the hotel from the outside, nothing indicated what lies behind its walls. The building is just a plain box; nothing special. After crossing the entrance door I was warmly welcomed by the hotel owner, who was eager to give me any information about the hotel, the area, the places of interest, etc.

The room was on the top floor, and I was impressed by its cleanliness and tidiness; small but cute, nicely decorated. There was a loaded mini-bar, a flat-screen TV and all other furniture someone expects to find in a decent room.

The breakfast was marvelous; great variety, fresh stuff. As a highlight, there were everyday freshly-baked bread rolls, made by the owner himself.

The hotel is a few minutes walk away from a train station, thus making access to it very easy. In the surrounding area there are a lot of places one can have a walk, something to eat or drink, or even do some shopping. The city centre and the Old City are about 30 minutes away across the river.

All in all, the experience staying at this hotel was very pleasant and I would definitely recommend it.

First "Many thanks" to the hotel owners. They waited for us til late at night, because we landed at 1 o'clock a.m. Nice and comfortable rooms. Fresh and delicious food. Friendly atmosphere. Close to the fair and to the old town, near to the train station. Perfect location for business and leisure and at the same time very peaceful place. We think this was the best one we ever stayed at.
