This did have basic service that you would expect with a 3 star hotel. We were a party of 6, with 3 rooms reserved for 3 nights. Granted, we were some of the last visitors for the season, just prior to closure, but I literally had to go begging coffee refills for the mornings, and the tea was not replenished. I finally located some at the front desk--since housekeeping was unable to locate. Also, had to beg for Kleenex--after the dispenser was left empty for two days.
The daily housekeeping service was a huge disappointment. The rooms were not made up until after 5:45 pm. The first day, I had just pulled the covers up on the bed in our room and the bed was then not freshly made that day.
The lobby was continually packed with visitors, and difficult to even find a place to sit. People were either waiting for a room, or had checked out and were waiting for a later flight. At any rate, it made the public areas very uninviting.
This property is so beautiful. We didn't want to go off the property most of the time. So much to see and do. The food was great as well. Can't wait to return.
Great facility, clean, well maintained, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful and comfy lobby for relaxing, meeting with your group etc
The room was very nice for where we were. We ate the $25 breakfast buffet one morning. Cold eggs. Couldn’t get cream for coffee. Biscuits and gravy had no sausage. The bed was not good for my husbands back. Overall ok
Having a frig would be nice.
The stay was excellent. I would have water in the rooms on arrival. Everything was coordinated excellent.
Food was so so. There was quick pick up at the airport. The room was large. Most staff are extremely friendly but front desk staff seemed confused
Bar staff was rude and at one point refused service. Wait staff brought salad and main course at same time, and then blamed it on me. The food overall was terrible.
Great place to stay with beautiful views of the Chena River.
Such a beautiful property.
Property in Fairbanks is conveniently located in the quiet area by a river but with quick and easy access to the road and downtown
Checkin was extremely confusing for a pre-cruise stay that was booked through Expedia. At first staff told us that we would have to check out of our room after 1 night on the Expedia reservation, and then check into an identical room the next day as part of our Cruise package. When we arrived late at night there were 2 front desk staff, 1 helping another customer, and another who was doing nothing staring off into space. It was 1:30am and we just needed to get our daughter to sleep.
The bathroom was filthy. Debris under the counter, dirty countertop, and disgusting buildup of hair etc in the crevices on the floor. Apparently the cleaning staff doesn’t close the bathroom door when they clean or maybe they just don’t care.
The b’fast buffet was poorly stocked and overpriced. Pavol snapped at me when I asked for butter, because I was unreasonable to expect the common butter dish shouldn’t have other food included (bits of bread, jam etc). Spoke to the Supv about his nasty attitude, but she just made excuses for him.
Nothing much to do at this property other than the super-touristy excursions. If this is the start of your trip - good news, it gets better. If it’s the last stop, bad taste to end on.
We had a golf excursion. The golf course (to call it that is a stretch) is poorly maintained and managed. We were told to leave after two holes due to lightening. Offered a partial refund, but still wrangling with Princess/vendor to get it. $300 for 2 holes of golf on a subpar facility is a rip off!
Good note - the burger in the bar is great. Donald is the best server!
1. In July open the windows and turn on the fan they provide in the closet.
2. Bring money to eat. Expensive breakfast.
3. Bar/lounge closes at 11 pm.
4. They must allow homeless to sleep in the hospitality room. For we saw a half a dozen people with sheets and blankets sleeping.
5. No microwave and refrigerator.
Very close to airport. Dated furniture and no drinking cups or lotion. Shower while hot was a mist type. Not an issue but not a relaxing shower.
Wonderful lobby and nice gift store.
Decor from the 80’s, no soap for sink, no cups, misty shower.
The room was large. Nice lobby and gift shop.
This was one of the nicer Princess Lodges. The rooms were a nice size, love the location on the river. And the outside is keep well. There are a few short walking paths as well. The downside is the restaurant. It is way over priced and the quality of the food wasn't as good as the other Princess Lodges.
This is probably one of the worst places to stay. If you are on Holland America or Princess cruises they force you to stay. First, the bathrooms have not been cleaned in a long time. They have hair and dirt in the bathroom that is awful. Second, their manager apparently don’t care because we called down and the only response was they would take care of it. We were here for two days and they didn’t. Also, don’t bother to eat in either restaurant. Open table has a 2.9 rating out of 5 which is not good but it is actually worse than that. The meals were all overcooked and the server and manger kept arguing right in front of us. Needless to say the service was super slow. Oh and the bed bugs were out as well on the second night.
We stayed 4 nights and found the room was ok. No fridge, and a small coffee machine with powded milk as the only option. Service at restaurants and bars was terrible. We either waited a long time for either food or drinks or even someone to serve us, and there were plenty of staff standing around. We asked for a glass of wine and the staff member told us we couldn't have one as they would have to open a bottle!
Princess really need to pick their game up.
Overall we had a nice stay, it was just the service was bad when you have limited options to dine at.
A great setting on the edge of Fairbanks
